Oh yea that sounds right. I figured with the new spoiler they were just going to go all out and change everything. I liked the Wing, but the spoiler just looks so right.

Some pics from today's open test at Charlotte with spoilers
(...)

Doesn't look as bad as I'd thought. Now we need to wait for a "high speed reverse" test to see if it flies.

I'm betting it still does, just look at that huge empty hole after the rear bumper. It fills up like a baloon when they get spun round :(

I would assume they had JPM running the wing at one point to see how speeds compared?

What I heard was that they were testing how different the car would react with the same suspension setup when switching from the wing to the spoiler. Montoya liked the spoiler better, but as 01GTP pointed out it wasn't much of a difference.

I don't think Monty ever used the rear spolier did he?

Think he came in when the wing was introduced

His rookie year was in '07 when they ran both the COT and the "old" car.

i actually didn't realise that

I knew he had left Formula one in the middle of 2007 to come over to NASCAR but I thought he came in after the COT when that was introduced at Bristol if I remember.

But when this gets brought in for Martinsville in a couple of days, it will actually be my first 'spoiler' race so you could say I will lose by 'spoiler virginity' lol

If I recall correctley

JPM left F1 in July 2006, ran some ARCA/Remax Races at Talladega and Iowa in the 4 car for Ganassi in October, then 4 races in the Busch (now Nationwide) series (Memphis, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead), then made it to the Cup series in time for the season finale at Homestead.

2007 was the first year of the COT running at a few races. JPM ran the full Cup schedule, and the first 12 races of the Busch series. He got the rookie of the year award in '07.

Just heard on Race Hub that NASCAR could be switching to fuel injection as early as next year.

Interesting, we might be closer to getting our second Japanese Manufacterer in Nascar then first thought.

Dammit, good car for JPM with last qually slot.. and it gets rained out... so we gotta start 22nd? That freakin sucks.

Let me give some Hindu love in this post. Narain Karthikeyan started his first-ever NASCAR race at Martinsville for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He started 11th and finished 13. I'll tell you what. For a former Formula 1 racer trying NASCAR, that's not bad, and especially when you make your first start at Martinsville.

I still have to warm up to the looks. Not only did they add the spoiler, they lowered the rear skirts.
I thought so, just wasn't sure. I do wonder what effect this will have on rear end downforce in conjunction with the spoiler. I also kinda question why they choose a short track to debut this seeing as historically, they never yield any visible differences.

So now the car looks like it has this tiny nose, and a huge butt.

Just the way I like my women :sly:

I tell you what, that really isn't bad at all. He did a lot better than Piquet in his first race!

Possibly see Narain in Sprint Cup?

Race is tomorrow on fox.

I don't think the spoilers look any better really, Perhaps it will grow on me, they just look like trucks lol.

Didn't nascar first run the wing, or just the COT its self at M-Ville? Is it the place to debut new aero parts or something?

They debuted at Bristol

I'll be working too but will be recording the race on the DVR.

I will be missing the live radio communications though. bummer
