The current deal being offered is a 49/51 split, that's about as good as they are going to get. Both sides need to just agree and move on.

Now? We all focus on the NHL and hope we have an NBA season next year. :(

At least you guys have NHL, down under only thing we got decent going on at the moment is cricket and our NBL :lol:

MORE games canceled. This time, up to December 15. So about 26.3% of the 2011-2012 season will been canceled. Might as well kill off the whole season, or is there still even SOME hope of having ANY kind of season?

I highly doubt it because they can't come to a simple agreement.

Some YouTube comment makers are saying that this is simply about NBA players wanting more money (or being money hungry) as to why there is this decertificiation. Here is one comment about one video on the NBA lockout:

"The players are lazy scumbags who are essentially demanding reparations for slavery. They're doing all of this aggressive posturing to get a few extra hundred thousand on their paychecks, and when push came to shove, they'd rather sue to get money than earn it."

And here is another:

"Greedy b:censored:es. But the fans are the only reason this is happening. That's right we spend hundreds of dollars one one game, jerseys, 20.00 beers. And some where along the way we made 100,000,000.00 for a single player, just to win a championship ok. So unless you boycott your getting just what you deserve. I gave up on baseball in 94 and never looked back. I will do he same with the NBA!"

It just gives you some different perspective of how a number of people see something like this NBA lockout.

What do YOU want for Christmas? Well, THIS JUST IN...

...if what you want for Christmas is a 2011-2012 NBA season, you just might get your wish! There's a tentative agreement to begin this season on Christmas Day with a 66-game season. Good news is that we're getting an NBA season. I hope this deal all gets complete so I can finally see some NBA action for this season.

Excited, much? Or do you think this deal will pull through?

[UPDATE] With this schedule in place, Free Agency and Training Camp both begin on December 9th while the regular season starts on December 25 (Christmas). That day will have three big matches as part of a tripleheader:

* Celtics at Knicks
* Heat at Mavericks (DAL = defending champs)
* Bulls at Lakers

All these games will either be on ESPN or ABC. Here's the Yahoo! Sports piece on the NBA Lockout coming to an end: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...F?slug=aw-wojnarowski_nba_lockout_ends-112611

Back to basketball!

Hooray! Let's see who kept hard at work during the lockout and who slacked off.

I guess the real question will come down to all the different movers and shakers in Free Agency. Some of the NBA players overseas may have to honor their contract to the foreign teams they are playing for. I think it's going to be a real mess with certain players playing here in the US and then those overseas.

Free Agency begins December 9th with this current schedule. My Rockets still need a certifiable big man, or just need to work with what we have. I was still pleased we managed a winning season despite the losing woes we've endured last year. Of course, starting your season at the Lakers (of all teams) is NOT a good way to start a season. I think we also had a bunch of brutal back-to-back games that the Rockets just didn't seem all that ready for.

So what would be my motivation for my Rockets? Simple- one of Texas' three teams won the NBA Championship... and it wasn't the Rockets. Are you going to be this state's worst NBA team yet again, or can you take it to teams like the Spurs and (defending champion) Mavericks?

Should be a great 2011-2012 season, even if shortened!

There's a few guys in China who will have to stay there, European holiday'ers can come back. Mills only just left the Australian NBL a week or two ago to play in China, which I guess means he's stuck in China now when he could have returned to the NBA had he stayed here in Australia.:ouch:

The good news on all of this is that both sides have actually agreed to something so we can see some NBA 'ball. With a shortened season, the real challenge would be to try to win more games early and really establish yourself in short order. You got a 66-game schedule compared to the 82-game schedule. Winning 50+ games is going to be very difficult unless you have a run like that 72-game winning Chicago Bulls team of the '90s.

We'll have to see who can adapt quickly and win consistently.

Christmas Day now has two more games on the card. Here's the Christmas schedule to start this season (new additions in italics):

* Celtics at Knicks
* Heat at Mavericks
* Bulls at Lakers
* Magic at Thunder
* Clippers at Warriors

So are you ready for FIVE games for Christmas? To quote ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption," we got BALL DAY and BALL NIGHT on Christmas! Glad NBA hoops isn't dead for 2011-2012.

Dear Santa,

Thank you.

-NBA Fans.

Here, here...I wasn't going to celebrate until the schedule was posted!

Bring on the Mavs.

I think it will be a bit more crucial for teams to get off to a great start with fewer games. You usually have about four games against each of your divisional opponents. Those tie-breakers and such could be crucial come playoff time. What do you think will be the challenge with a shorter schedule?

I think for teams like my Raptors it'll be harder to find their new identity in time to salvage a decent season, so it goes for anyone who is on the rebuild.

Word has it that there are still discussions going for Chris Paul (CP3) to be traded from New Orleans to the Los Angeles Lakers. Considering the Lakers' issues, this could be a good upgrade for the Lakers.

My Rockets' NBA schedule was released last night. We have two Preseason games, both against the San Antonio Spurs. Not sure if the game on December 17th will be in Houston or in San Antonio. Our regular season starts at the Orlando Magic (I already see us 0-1) on December 26th. The Rockets' home opener will be a Thursday night game on December 29th.

I am still glad this season isn't a lost cause.

Howard to the Lakers makes far more sense and it is also much more plausible. The Clippers actually look more likely to get CP3 with Eric Bledsoe, Chris Kaman, and Al-Farouq Aminu in a package, but NOLA wants DeAndre Jordan and Eric Gordon.

It'll be interesting to see how these things shake out.

Chris Paul has reportedly been traded to the Lakers in a three team deal. The deal would include the Rockets getting Pau Gasol and the Hornets getting Lamar Odom from the Lakers. Hornets would also get Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and future draft choice from the Rockets.

Au contraire, cullenand... According to ESPN just now, the Chris Paul deal to the Lakers has reportedly hit a snag, and is doubtful to happen. CP3's staying put in NOLA for now.

All I can say is, WOW

Yeah as a NOH fan I'm sort of unhappy that CP3 will be going in a few years but inevitably it was gonna happen. But dammit we we're gonna get a pretty decent trade from him, I wouldn't mind K-Mart, Scola and Odom over at the Hornets.

Well... today is Free Agency. Time to see what teams will be dealing their players in preparation for the upcoming season. I still think my Rockets need a real big man to fill up the inside like when Yao Ming for playing for us. The wheeling and dealing will happen now, as if it didn't already with the *attempted* Chris Paul trade.

Sad news if you're a Trail Blazers fan (I know only one on GTPlanet)- due to degenerative knees, Brandon Roy retired from the NBA. He was a hell of a player, and I was even forced to watch that NBA commercial when Brandon Roy beat my Rockets on a buzzer-beating, game-winning three I saw on a Thursday night game in Portland. I wish 27-year old Brandon Roy all the best.

I have really enjoyed watching the Blazers over the past few seasons. Imagine how good the Blazers would be if not for Oden and Roy being injured so often. I'm going to really miss watching Roy play. He was easily one of my favorite players in the league.

Caron Butler chooses to join the Clippers despite offers from Mavs, Spurs, and Nets. Have the Clippers become a "destination franchise?"
