Hey Ash, this'll be good for the picture reviews in BATRACER eh? :D

Looks really cool, but it'll have a small demographic, as very few people can even watch, let alone get into F1 here.

I have yet to find a F1 game that looks any good for PS2, so this is good news to me. Just have to get my hands on a PS3.

I read on some blogs that EA did a terrible job with F1 and that the FIA got fed up with the bad game implementations out there and offered it up to Sony, effectively locking F1 out of all other platforms, but guaranteeing a better implementation.

By the way that video has been on the Ps3 website for months

1 : This should've been posted be in the PS3 forum.

2: I played the demo, and it wasn't that good.

I don't have a wheel and I don't plan to get one so I do everything from the gamepad. I got 100% on the GT4 license tests so I don't think I'm handicapped by not having a wheel. I just played the demo last night. My first impression is that it's pretty spectacular, especially with the different difficulty modes and damage. I also downloaded GTHD and found it a little underwhelming, but then, I don't have a wheel.

...And both games would be lame with a wheel because of the lack of FFB. 💡

What sucks about this game is the fact that its pretty much "outdated" already, with basically EVERY car having a different scheme, and most teams with new drivers. It would be strange to get ready to watch the Aussie GP by strapping myself into Fernando Alonso's Mild Seven Renault in the game, bang wheels with Kimi Raikonnen's Johnny Walker McLaren, and get beat by Michael Shumachers Marlboro/Vodafone Ferrari. Then turn on the race, and see Raikonnen in a Marlboro Ferrari, Alonso in a Vodafone McLaren, and Fisichella in the ING Renault.

Confused yet?

I understand your take. It doesn't bother me because I don't need it to be absolutely current. Last season's rosters are fine with me.

Same with me. I'm really looking forward to getting this and a PS3. The photoreal graphics and mind boggling weather effects will keep me racing, and keep me happy.

I got this game 4 days ago and i'm addicted. If you love F1 and realistic racing games, this is a must for you. The only problem I have with it, is that "Easy" is far too easy, and "Medium" is quite hard. It's also really hard to not crash and ruin your car so you end up restarting races often. With all that said, I love it. I'm a big fan of Career mode, which allows you to create a driver and work your way up the F1 ladder by trying out for some of the slower teams and getting either a race seat or test seat. With a test seat, if you perform well, you'll eventually move up to a race seat, which sounds annoying, but it really lets you learn the tracks. So far I've worked my way up from a Super Aguri to a Midland to a Red Bull in just over a season, and I'm having a blast.

I've been playing for four days and I really like it. I don't understand why so many panned and poopoo'ed it. I play medium and difficult mode and don't notice that much difference yet between those two. I think it's cool that you crash and you're out, something missing in GT. The physics seems to be superior to GT, also. Hopefully, GT5 will learn something from this different perspective. The pitstop procedures still have me baffled and I haven't figured out how to nail pitstops yet. It's definitely not GT Legends which is a total piece of garbage with totally unrealistically difficult to drive cars. The biggest difference between F1 and GT4 is the racing line. When you use a racing line in F1, you can really feel the difference. In GT4, it's not as close to the real thing.
Additionally, I do like the way you can outbrake AI opponents to gain advantage in the turns whereas you gain nothing on the straights without taking away all of your downforce. This part is pretty real.
