Not in the US - they hold, which is odd since nobody has one. Maybe that's why.

Great "Goat" Duke. Is it a 389 tri-power?
Well, no, but thanks anyway. It's a long and somewhat bitter story.

1) It's not a GTO. My father bought it new for my mother in the fall of 1966 and gave it to her for Christmas. He was looking at GTOs, but:

2) my oldest sister coincidentally turned 16 that same year, and Dad chickened out when it came to the possibility of turning her loose in a GTO.

3) So he opted for the 326/2bbl/2-speed LeMans. A boulevard cruiser, not a muscle car.

4) Long about 1976 someone gave him, free for nothing, a 1968 GTO convertible, which he fixed all up and gave to the aforementioned eldest sister, who had thus cheated me out of my future GTO not once but twice...

5) Pontiac discontinued the 389 and the multi-carb setups in 1966, so it would have been a 400/4bbl anyway. Not that I would have cared.

Anyway, thanks! It needs another good dose of TLC but it is fun to own, slow as it is.

Aren't they all 2 seaters? There's certainly no room in the back for passengers in the Elan or MR-Spider. MR2 mk2 maybe, but I think the engine's there... :D

How about a Lotus Elan, or are those really rare and expensive?
Well, how 'bout that they're not really that available on this side of the pond? ;)

MR2 or MRS?...
Look at the thread title, bud: Usable back seat. :P

[edit]: Whoops, looks like I got treed!

I thought that everyone uses the trunk as a seat? My dad does it when my aunt comes over :odd: :P...

I forgot who I was talking to. I wouldnt have said elan if I knew. I was getting desperate. We've named alot of convertables.

Ever tried using the boot (no idea what a "trunk" is... :D) of a mk2 MR2? I dread to think what it's like in the even-smaller MR-Spider - especially once you factor in the roof storage... :D

I hear the Aston Martin DB7 Volate has decent rear seats... :D

Its that big empty space at the rear end of front engined cars. People usually put things in it. Like luggage, drugs, illeagal/smuggled weapons, tied up people, dead people, etc...

My kids are neither tied up nor dead, though that's been a near thing recently. So they need actual seats with seatbelts, breatheable air, etc.

Thanks for all the replies! The C70 looks to be best on paper; now I have to find one close enough by to go look at. Cheers!
