Mostly in the title really. I've been travelling about so much lately that it's become more and more clear that I need to make a change. The good keyboard bit is important too. Bad keyboards annoy the hell out of me.

I need something that can easily be carried for extended periods (up to two hours, and I'm puny so that's a big ask).

My current ancient machine has a 2.2 GHz dual core processor and 4 Gb of RAM so I'd preferably like something which is a step up from that.

My price limit is probably about £700 / 900€.

Probably would need a bit more information.

1. When you say "carry for two hours" are you just carrying the laptop in your hand and that's it? No bag?
2. Do you need a keyboard with a number pad?
3. Do you need a PC or Mac for work reasons?
4. What size screen?

I have a bag I can carry it in. It's just every gram saved is a slightly less sore shoulder in the evening.

I don't particularly need a num pad. If it really becomes an issue I can get a USB keyboard, but I doubt it will.

I don't need a Mac. Nothing against them, but I'd rather have something with Windows and perhaps Linux as well.

Screen size is less of an issue than weight, but I'm thinking 33-36 centimetres / 13-14 inches.

You should pop onto PC Specialist; for £700 you can get a very solid laptop custom built for you ^^

If you want I can try out a possible build in a while and see what kind of price I can get. i assume you want a 13.3 or 15 inch screen, right?
