UTH on March update: https://www.ea.com/games/need-for-speed/need-for-speed-heat/news/under-the-hood-march-update

New Black Market that comes with 1 paid DLC car and a variant of an existing car is available for free (K.S. cars from last update I guess). Seems like there is some sort of challenge to complete for more rewards such as visual customization parts for your new ride, character outfits, and effects fitting the car’s theme (such as underglows).

Update will be released on March 3rd.

Might give in and buy the game with this news. I want to give it another shot.

It'll be on EA Access in a few months but games like NFS you have to buy due to licenses...

Right. In the words of Larry Foulke; "It's time."

Over the past few days, this thread has seen an argument which started out as a debate over which P1 was the fastest, and then turned into... I'm not sure what. And so I decided to drive both cars in a conclusive test to finally end this debate. My test has the means to end this hideous argument in a definitive and elegant manner. So use your imagination, my fellow racers! Picture it! Ten million tires saved at the cost of a mere million tires...!

OK, enough Ace Combat references...

I bought both the McLaren P1 and P1 GTR in NFS Heat, and set them up according to @The reaper's instructions. Both cars had their original engines, with all Ultimate+ parts, Ultimate Twin Turbos and Ultimate Nitrous (though this wasn't used in the test). They also had Drag tires, Track suspension and differentials, Elite brakes and clutches, and 7-speed transmissions. Once the cars were built, I selected four races to provide a varied and comprehensive testing environment. Each car was run three times, and the best time from the three runs were recorded. I used a DS4 controller, with automatic transmission, and no nitrous was used. Here are the results:

Yoshikazu (a tight, technical circuit that tests handling and cornering speeds):

P1: 2:56.27
P1 GTR: 2:45.55

J-Storm (a route that predominantly takes place on the highway):

P1: 3:41.39
P1 GTR: 3:38.75

Portview (a race in the docks with plenty of fast, sweeping curves):

P1: 2:07.46
P1 GTR: 2:04.81

Railway to Heaven (about as straight-a-shot as you're going to get in this game):

P1: 1:41.23
P1 GTR: 1:40.43

It is entirely possible that these results could be different according to the tires used, but I hope that this will at least put Reaper's debate to rest and allow us to get back to discussing this game (and the forthcoming update!).

Seems a bit underwhelming to only get 2 cars after all this time. Hope the price is reasonable. I hope the new vanity kits can also be bought for other cars.

Still waiting for controller configuration and also a way to sort our cars in garage. I'm up to 50 odd cars now and as far as I can tell, their order is fixed but completely random

BTW guys, I don't want to reopen a can of worms but as the person who started this whole P1 base vs GTR thing, I never said the base P1 is faster than the GTR in objective terms. Just better in terms of overall versatility and usability. As you know NFS isn't straight up circuit racing like Gran Turismo. If that's the case then yes the P1 GTR (as has already been proven) is faster. But remember we also have jumps, obstacles, offroad, traffic, cops and a whole lot of other stuff to deal with when racing. The GTR is fast but fragile. The base P1 gives up a bit of ultimate speed but has a "wider" scope in which to use it. Again, I didn't do any objective testing to prove this, just general experience from using those cars grinding rep at night.

My original post on page 67:
For my driving style it is. It's easier to drift, slightly better offroad and has higher damage resistance. Just generally more versatile overall. In fact that seems to be the case for most cars that have a more focused track counterpart. The special edition cars are cool on paper, but speedwise it's not much different from the "base" model and the handling is usually far too grippy (not to mention the lack of customisation).

Ultimately it's NFS. Whether one car is a few seconds faster than another doesn't matter. Just pick a car you like the look of and feel when driving. It's all for fun anyways. Leave the OCD laptime watching for the serious sims

Damage resistance is the exact same across all cars. Anyone saying otherwise is only experiencing a placebo effect.

Is that so? I've definitely had big crashes into buildings in the Evo X and the damage bar only takes a slight hit, and I've had small fender bender into traffic in the 180SX and the bar goes down massively. No damage reduction parts for either. If the intrinsic resistance is programmed to be equal (which it shouldn't be, how can a super lightweight hypercar be as strong as an F150), then something is wonky with the collision threshold detection.

That's because there's a bigger penalty for crashing into traffic (esp. during races) than there is in crashing into buildings. It's irrelevant of car. I've noticed the behavior you're describing on all cars.

I am really curious how much life will this dlc bring. Also a paid dlc, but you get only one car... and some vanity items. Why am I not impressed? The best part is definitely the screen shaking option. It's such a shame because this set up has so much potential. If only the Heat had better support.

I think the life of the game will depend on the black market rewards, it depends on how many challenges we are getting and how many extra customisation parts and effects lock behind it. The 1 free car and 1 paid DLC won't extend the life of the game, probably a week of players attention at best with just 2 cars.

Just wish this game, beside the cars, has weekly events, discounts, and some new routes to race on.

The Crew 2 does it with the summit. Gran Turismo does it with seasonal events (for past games) and daily races (for Sport). And some other games does the similar too.

Or simple but new exciting features like route/course maker, new garages, etc.

Dunno but right now, I'm burned out playing the game again because its just the same as when I was bought it months ago without bringing anything new to the table.

Same for me, running the same old events got stale pretty quickly, especially after leveling 2 crews to max.

It seems that the analysis of the game file revealed the theme of the black market.

Volume 1 : Made In Japan
Volume 2 : Bad to the Bone
Volume 3 : Porsche Unleashed
Volume 4 : The Italian Job
Volume 5 : Best of British

That means that the modified Defender will be in Volume 5. The Countach and Aventador should be in Volumes 2 and 4 but I have no idea on the order.

They said at UTH that variants of existing cars are cars that are added for free. DB11 Conv is probably free car.
And this car has scary spoiler options like Corvette K.S.Edition!

PS: This car has been confirmed to be free content!

So we are starting from Volume 5: Best of British then. I'm guessing the LP750 SV that was found in the game files is the planned free variant car for "Volume 4: Italian Job", maybe the K.S. Aventador kit is meant for that too.

I'm afraid of the price of McLaren F1.
Well, not real money. How much this car will do in the game. This car was like Bugatti Veyron in the 90's.
One million dollars?

Yeah... 5 dolars for one car. I think we should wait for "sale"

But i like we need to get this car with Challenges. To bad it is only 2 new cars.

Seeing as it is a paid DLC car, you should obtain it for free once you have completed this missions.

But damn, it is a pricey standalone car. :scared:

Its EA so im not shocked

I was still shocked considering this cost a whole lot more than the DLC cars in Payback and Rivals, Rivals charge about $6 for 2 car and Payback charge $2.50 per car if you buy it individually.
