I think it's perfectly reasonable that Stellar Entertainment is just remastering various Criterion-developed games, as I recall hearing that Stellar Entertainment is made up of former Criterion staff. So that means they're likely most familiar with the engine(s) used in various games by Criterion, whether it's Burnout Paradise or NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. I expect a remaster of Most Wanted 2012 could be coming in 2022, and I also would be genuinely surprised if any other NFS was remastered, let alone remade.
Besides, I'd rather leave those older games behind and build on them instead, and perhaps creating a spiritual successor that could improve on certain mechanics. I mean, some of those bodykits in Most Wanted 2005/Carbon looked terrible! But I'd really love to see a return of the territory mechanic from Carbon, especially if it were brought online, leading to emergent gameplay like in say, Planetside or MAG.
Anyway, I loved HP 2010 so much the first time around that I might get it again, but that'll depend on what gets added - like the pre-set wraps, and if they look any good. Besides, cross-play is great, and I have a friend who has an Xbox One who might get it, so we could play together in that case. I just hope the two SLR McLaren models potentially get replaced with something else, not that I think it's likely. But then again, I think the Carbon Motors E7 did get replaced with the Police Interceptor Ford Taurus, which is funny because the two cars were competitors for contracts from the police, and the Taurus won.
In the unlikely case that the two SLR McLaren models get replaced with other models, I wonder what cars would be good picks? I'd personally pick something from around that same time - late 2000s/early 2010s. Maybe the Lamborghini Aventador could be one, especially since it was already in Most Wanted 2012, and perhaps the 3rd-gen Viper SRT could make an appearance, too. But I suppose that'd also mean adding new voiceovers, too - unless they didn't bother adding one for the Interceptor Taurus.
