Every NFS since Carbon had similar car lists because they just reuse car models. Shift to TR is more so. The games between those have like the same cars.
Most likely the games made by Black Box because I doubt that Slighty Mad Studious or Criterion would do that.

No, they clearly shared car models. The visuals of the cars are different but they are all still the same shared reused models.

Also idk why people always think BB is bad. The only game they made that was crap was Undercover & that was mostly due to EA's rush it out policy.

You generally can't just take a 3D model from one game and plop it into another, even if they share some assets (which they certainly do) the models still have to be completely rebuilt for each game. Of course they're going to have the same cars and EA is going to get as much as they can out of them, that's what they've been contracted to use. There's only so much they can do, it might look like the same model but that's because there's already a specific design in place that they have to follow.

It's still honestly the same basic mesh. It's not hard to throw it around from game to game. Modders do it all the time with games & so do the devs.

As me and AOS- discussed a while back, Because all the cool kids hate Black Box.

This one? I'm not blind but I don't remember seeing that car in the footage.

It's in at 3:36. The Ariel takes it down. It's hard to see because the screen goes black and white but you notice the stripe on the back of it.

The only thing I could make out is the wheels and they clearly look like the ones on a 2012 Panamera.

If you continue to watch the vid, NFSMWea10, the one who got taken down by the Atom, is using a Porsche.

I'm not trolling. I'm serious I thinks it's a Daytona. The give away is the stripe. Plus they have the Shelby license. Maybe you guys are looking at the wrong car.

I don't even get how you guys made out anything- wait. I forget there's 720. Looked at it just now. Paused it and got a shot at the wheels which clearly are not the Daytona's.

See? Totally Panamera's.

^ Panamera, and wheels look the correct diameter compared to HP2010. It does seem to have a stripe just before hitting it but it could be a glitch or even the license plate lights.

In general, I believe the car model assets are sort of 'transferred' to save on modeling time.

There have however been some improvements, mostly around Prostreet. I believe that's when damage models were fully done and flaws like the RX8's lumpy seats and LP640's rear wheels were fixed.

(Wheels were later 're-broken' in UC and the Shifts though.)

I've a feeling that some of CG's models are bespoke though. MP4-12C's rear wheels look much better than Run's and Shift's for example. Maseratis and some others have new wheels too, and the up to date RX8, GT3 RS and the like.

On the topic of 'who did the modeling', I believe SMS did the cockpits from scratch and certain new exterior models like the Huayra and the 'legends' DLC cars. The cars which also later appeared in Project CARS could all be SMS modeled too.

I was sort of hoping that the lesser car count of MW meant that there was some remodeling going on. But apart from a redone visual tyre model (that looks quite good), there doesn't seem to be much improvement in the 'smoothness' of the geometry.

It appears that front and rear wheel models are directly shared to save a few polys and the associated rendering costs too when they are actually different in fitment or size. (Noticable with the XKR, GTR and the 991. Odd part was that the HP2010 GTR had properly different front and rears.)

Now that I think of it, didn't the PSP versions of UG, MW and Carbon sort of have exclusives?

(More muscle cars in UG and the Firebird in Carbon (like Run's). The normal Mazda3 in MW. Series 8 RX7 in Carbon etc.)

The iOS version is also effectively a unique game compared to the console versions like those PSP ones.

There were some rumors earlier this year that Criterion would take over the entire franchise but we never had a decent explination of that, now we do.

It was announced earlier this year that Criterion would be putting its stamp on all future Need For Speed games.
MW: Yeah, what we mean by that is, we think this is the direction that it needs to go in, and so let's have a consistent direction.

Does that mean that all future Need For Speed titles will be arcade open-world racers?
MW: Erm... I don't know. I think it's up to interpretation really. Our studio principles are fun, accessible video games that are very highly-connected and centred around friends. Whatever we make would be built around those principles. Perhaps ones we're setting here are, love the cars, have the fun, and be highly connected around Autolog. There's a whole heap of scope in there for people to be creative around but we think that this is the direction that it needs to go in. I suppose where we started with the track record, that's the voice people want to listen to.

How is EA Gothenburg involved in Need For Speed?
MW: How are they?

Yeah. We know they're hiring for work on Need For Speed, but what are they doing?
MW: They're doing other Need For Speed things.

Are they doing next year's Need For Speed?
MW: [laughs] Who knows?

You?
MW: They don't tell me things like that. [laughs]
