I don't understand why they can't just leave this REVEEENGEEEE story for Fast&Furious and make a racing game.
Those photos literally look like promo shots of The Crew lol. I fully agree about the cringe-worthy revenge story.
Microtransactions, wonky physics, and crappy story, oh my! (My predictions)
So... Business as usual then?
NFS never was about the physics! NFS always was about a fun and entertaining game to play (at least for me!)
Well if that's what NFS is meant to be about, they've failed miserably for a lot of years now. Oh, and good arcade physics are what makes for a fun and entertaining arcade game (see Driveclub).
I'm sure the following aspects will apply to Payback just fine ...
- Handling physics sponsored by I Can't Believe It's Not Butter
- Cheesy storyline and cut scenes - but don't worry to much about it, it's gonna be over much faster than you think
- Extensive customization options - for like 5 or 10 percent of the car list. The remainder will have to do with two generic wings
- Hyped to death by YouTubers that totally influcenced the quality of the game and ensured it's a good one. For real. Seriously.
- At some point, some absurd explaination will be brought up in order to enforce some kind of unneccessary technical limitation on us
- Everybody involved might notice they haven't completely been listening to the fans a few months after release, despite trying to convince everybody of it
- People will be so fed up that not even reviewers will try to sugar-coat it and give the game mediocre scores
Sorry for being such a cynic, but we've done this so many times that by now, everybody should know better and not be fooled by the trailers and pre-release hype nonsense. I want this to be good, but realistically, I just can't see that happening.
A realist! Thank you, this is exactly what I'm expecting, given what the last two NFS games were like.
This game looks awesome and people are still complaining. This game will be a lot better then NFS 2015 here are the reasons
1. Offline play and you can pause the game!
2. Better physics yes they are being improved Ghost Games confirmed this was confirmed by Ghost Games on Reddit!
3. Better handling Ben Walke one of the people who works at Ghost Games confirmed this on Twitter!
4. Bigger map
5. More cars
6. More customization
7. Better Cops
8. Day and Night Cycle
8. Weather most likely
9. Cockpit most likely
10. Offroading
11. A good story a lot of people are comparing this to Fast And Furious its fine how the story is like this there is still a lot of street racing and stuff in this game it does not hurt if they want to try something new. There are more stuff I probably did not mention but we should not complain we have not seen gameplay yet. I bet this game will be amazing trust me! Thanks everyone who agrees! And I know everyone has different opinions and its fine if you disagree just wait until EA Play on June 10 before you judge please thanks everyone!
The game looks awesome? You mean the one single pre-rendered promo video you saw looks awesome? I'm sure that video contains all the evidence in the world that Ghost are suddenly capable of making a good game /s. Seriously now though, I'm going to address this one point at a time.
1. Offline play and the ability to pause a racing game aren't exactly amazing features, they're expected.
2. Ghost games confirmed it'll have better physics? Well I'm sold! Hold on a sec... They said that about the last game, and it was absolutely terrible. I'm pretty sure if a dev have shown on more than one occasion that they don't actually understand how cars even work, they likely won't suddenly produce stellar physics.
3. This is exactly the same as point two, but worded differently... Again, Ghost saying the physics or handling is improved doesn't mean anything when they've proven they have no idea how a car is meant to handle. After reading the explanations for what each mechanical upgrade did in NFS 2015, it became instantly apparent to me that Ghost literally has nobody working for them that knows how a car works. I wouldn't be surprised if I found out nobody at Ghost has even driven a car before.
4. Bigger than what? Because it could be bigger than NFS 2015's map, and still be 5% the size of The Crew's. If the jump in map size from Rivals to 2015 is anything to go by, the map will take an extra 30 seconds to get from one side to the other.
5. This is to be expected, especially since they've completely ripped off The Crew's different car types.
6. Again, more customisation tells us nothing, since 2015 had good customisation for about 10 cars, if that, and the rest had less customisation than the mod shops in GTA: San Andreas.
7. It'd be hard to make worse cops. You can drive in a straight line in 2015 in a slow car and you'll still lose the cops without actually having to do anything.
8. This is at least progress, but if it's done as well as Ghost does everything else, it'll wind up being another joke.
8. Wait, why was there two 8s? Anyway, where do you get "weather most likely" from? Is this just a wish list now?
9. Again, you're just listing things you want in the game now. Even if cockpit view is in, I'd be willing to bet it'll have a terrible FOV, which won't be adjustable, the wheel will only turn 90 - 180 degrees, and will lag well behind the player's inputs, and I bet there'll be a ton of motion blur and head wobble that the player won't be able to turn off.
10. Off-roading is no good if the physics are as bad as the last two NFS games though. They can't program even remotely acceptable tarmac physics, so I'm not too hopeful for their off-road physics. Also, blatantly ripping off The Crew (In a whole bunch of ways) isn't something to get excited about, it just shows Ghost literally have no original ideas, or any idea what NFS fans want (considering this trailer shows they're making the opposite game the community has been asking for for years).
11. This point reads as if you work for Ghost, and are literally begging the community to be kind to this game. All you're doing is saying "C'mon guys, you haven't even seen gameplay, how can you judge it? But seriously, it's amazing, and it's got all this stuff, and I bet it's got everything we all want". Those of us doubting the game are basing our doubts on how terrible Ghost's previous games were. You're basing your optimism on nothing but your own conjecture, and the fact that Ghost employees said it'll be better lol. They're not exactly going to say "Yeah we've never made a good game before, and you can bet your arse this one will be just as bad!".
It's funny seeing people say "wait till we see gameplay", "give them a chance", "wait till you play it before judging". I literally saw exactly the same comments before NFS 2015 came out. When will everyone stop believing Ghost might one day be capable of making a competent game? They've never made even a half decent game. Literally ever. Are we just living groundhog day here? Where each time Ghost teases a new game we all go "well maybe it won't suck this time!".
