Okay, the online community I belong to is creating a racing event and I want to be competitive in it. I need to know a great car and tune/setup to use for these races -> they will be a mix of all the tracks.

So far the most limiting rule is the car must be 400 horsepower or less. No restrictions on tires. I was thinking of using a Subaru Imprezza or Mitsubishi Evo Lancer.

What do you guys think?

I think these are the best options with tunes of this forum:

Honda Civix Type R Turbo tuned by RKM Motorsport's: 392HP
Honda NSX-R 3rd Anniversary by RKM Motorsport’s: 393HP
Mazda Atenza 23RS by RKM Motorsport’s: 385HP
Mazda RX-7 R400 by RKM Motorsport’s: 397HP

Perhaps I choose the NSX (I have it and it is great) or the RX-7, but I don't have the Mazda.

I have loocked at other garages but I haven't found tunes between 380 and 400.
The tunes are in the RKM Motorsport's Garage, they are fantastic tuners!

I was actually looking at those tunes and I was leaning towards the Mazda RX-7. Thanks for the post. I am a noob at all this tuning in GT. I didn't do too much tuning in GT3 or GT5P. I am definitely getting into the tuning options in GT5 but I get so lost with all those options.

Anybody seen a good tune for a Focus ST?

96 Lotus Elise RM. I think fully tuned its less than 350bhp, full downforce adjustment and full suspension mod. Right now I have one left at ~170 bhp and its plenty fast enough for most of the races...

This car is for online races with the community I belong to. The Elise sounds like a great car for the small twisty tracks but I wonder about the overall power on the longer tracks.

The 111R RM is even more of a beast. I think it gets around 320 HP when fully broken in... it tears cars up on any track with a straightaway anywhere less than about 1/2 mile?

If you end up picking up one of the Elise's and RM-ing it, perform the racing modification BEFORE doing any other mods to it. It doesn't make sense to buy upgrades that it's going to have to re-buy for the RM.

And don't forget to oil change when you first get in.

The RM-ed NSX 91 is also a beast. Lion's Den Performance has a GREAT tune for the NSX RM on page 5. It has 422 HP broken in, so maybe you get a sport intake and exhaust to lower it a little. (Don't forget that you can remove any mod and/or downgrade but rigidity, engine staging, and weight changing.

They are great tunes but I think if you can have an Evo or STI tuned by those guys it will beat the lot. It's already seriously fast, stock, especially if you get a good chassis under it. But you certainly can't go wrong with either of the tunes mentioned:)

Tooo many choices - lol...

I probably prefer a AWD just because I have more confidence in myself driving those, but I might tune either the NSX or Mazda and give it a chance. I will have to look at the costs of the cars, race mods, etc.... I have limited time to create this baby and get used to it. Unfortunately, I have to work and don't have a lot of time for GT5 (or any gaming).

'91 NSX RM. Fully tuned, it makes 418Hp, but if you reset it to the Standard ECU, it'll make 396Hp. It's quick through the first 3 gears, and can grip very well.

As I said, it's a great car and I already posted a link to LDP for the tune.

I do like the NSX cars as well. Tough choice. I probably only have the time to fully upgrade 1 car... So many choices/options. I will have to see if any of the cars mentioned can be used in my current A/B spec game. I just finished Amateur in A-Spec (not working on Professional Races) and in B-Spec, just now starting into the Amateur races.

Cars like Elise and such is all about using the abundance in grip in the corners. With it tuned to 300+ bhp you shouldn't have problem keeping up with the cars on the straight if they are also limited to less than 400....should be a win-win scenario....

Short wheelbase though might get hairy, careful with that throttle...

I am a big fan of the s2k's THEY ARE light, handle great, and have smooth powe once they are up in the rpms, look for an amuse one in used car lot, AMUSE R1 2004

I just tuned a Nissan Silvia S15(racing modification).
Fully tuned the car has 374 hp and it drives like a charm.

lol, so many cars that when fully tuned drive like a dream... There is no way I can buy/tune all these cars to figure out which on will work the best for me.

I do appreciate all the advice/help you guys are giving me. I just have a lot of work to do in GT5 and little time (due to work) to actually do it all.

Thanks again, and please keep the advice coming. I am reading all the posts (and taking notes) for when I get back to GT5.

I was thinking of one of the race version S2000 as well. They are quite nimble and quick. They can take a bit to get used to if you're used to awd, however. The AMUSE one looks good, and I think you can win one as well. Another nice one is the SEMA one you can win or the S2000 Le Mans car from the used car lot.

What courses are you running? Can you adjust settings between courses? Small twisty will be better off in a different car than say a long straights course.

There will be 2 races a week. The tracks are not picked and I would imagine there would be very limited time for tweaks between races on that night. I have about 2 weeks to get my car(s) ready. Not a lot of time considering I still have to work and Holiday time with the family.

how about Caterham Seven Fireblade 02

254HP with a Super Charger. well under the limit but at 369kg its got a good power to weight ratio at 1.43kg per HP
it can be found as well for around 45k, with mods its relatively pretty cheap maybe another 70~k or so

Caterham won't be fast enough in the straights. I would personally opt for the NSX, it just grips and then some more. Excellent car!

The STi '02 has been a decent runner and I've only had that at 344hp with some driveline mods (clutch, flywheel, driveshafts) added for the intermediate rally stages which I crushed by a huge margin!! With 400hp, some suspension tuning, LSD tuning and an aero package would make it an absolute track monster.

A lot of the other suggestions have also been suggested like the RX7, NSX, S2K and most of the JDM stable (include 300ZX, 350Z, S14/S15, etc.). I'd add the older BMW's to the mix (M3, M3 CSL) as they are already quite good out of the box and can handle the extra 60 odd hp increase without any real tuning needed.

I'm not going to deny the rest of these cars, but I found a gem; the Lotus Evora. Throw some race tires or some sport softs on there, drop the weight as far as you can, and mod it to about 390ish HP and it'll handle with any supercar. I don't need race cars or super fast cars, the Evora is a charm. Fix it to the way you want it. Add the front splitter, a wing if you want, I didn't even need it. I beat Zonda's and Ferrari's with little problems. It sticks, the turn in is superb, the grip is excellent. It goes where you point it. With the right tweaks, it's as stable as any car i've driven on the game.

I think the altezza touring car which makes 399bhp and weighs bang on 1000kg sticks to the road like glue and isnt expensive to buy at all. Under 40k and needs stge 3 turbo and your done :)

I saw that car in the Lotus Dealership and wondered about it. Unfortunately I am very bad at tuning a car. Want to share how you tuned yours?

I have a Subaru Imprezza with 405kw maxed out, its a great all arround car.

So.... want to share your tune settings with us for the Subaru Imprezza? I am going to try and create 2-3 track cars. A AWD version and I just always liked the Imprezza, a FR car and the Mazda RX7 seems to fit that bill nicely and a MR car - the NSX or Lotus will be that car.

At least that it what I am thinking now. That combination of cars should be able to handle any track thrown at me - right?

.... Now I have to find the time & in-game money to do all that.
