I havnt played iRacing.. its expensive right ? From the reviews I have seen on the web Netkar rates very highly in regards to physics and lack of things you wouldnt have in real life... the 1.1 demo is free and gives you a Formula ford and a few tracks, you can even race online in the demo... Car selection (even in the full version) is limited to open wheelers only so some less than hardcore simmers would be put off by this.

Id be interested to hear how it compares to iRacing if you want to download it and let us know ?

Comparison of Race Sims... pretty damn good !! Though only lists Netkar v1.0

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_racing_simulators

On the face of the above, there are a some areas iRacing falls down in that would be considered important for some.

NetKarPro v1.1_Beta demo in 3D (anaglyph)

To be able to watch this screenshot in 3-D, you will need an anaglyph glasses.
It's easy to make. Get a glasses frame and some red and cyan cellophane and make this:

Damn will need some glasses.. I saw that on the RSC forum but it would be nice to know if its just a screen grab created like that... or something they are developing for actual in game play.... that would be pretty cool...old school but still cool

I've got nKPro v1.1 beta 2/3. And it's 👍

After some time with the demo(and setting up my wheel properly) I can honestly say netkar is truly something special. I really don't want to start any iracing vs. netkar discussions, but I will admit it's right there if not just trailing behind in the physics department. The f1600 just feels so alive and natural and really reacts to subtle input and setup changes. Once you get used to it your just throttle steering and in this sort of semi-drift through corners. Fun.

I'll probably unlock the full v1.1 in time. For now enjoying just hotlapping and working with setup. I wonder is it possible to use the telemetry analyzer in demo?

Unlock the full version.. The extra tracks and few extra cars make it really worth the effort.

I cant recall if the analyzer works in the demo, sorry, but you can install the AIM stuff for free anyway so it wont cost you anything to test it.

Which one has the best physics; nerKarPro 1.1 or iRacing?

When it comes to feel, Force feedback and that little extra something, Netkar Pro v1.1 3/3 is way better than iRacing IMO

Plenty of tracks, but they need to add more cars. The Abarth feels good - nice FWD physics, but how about some normal FR cars? And some AI too

Anyone else get and I got a "this website has been blocked" page. Apparently Google found a trojan on there.

Just tried out the latest demo - and my word, it's fun but challenging. The problem is, you have to rely on your eyes as the only sense available to tell you how hard you're braking (too hard will snap you off the track).

It's difficult to perfect it without being able to actually feel the forces at work.

reduce the braking force in the setup menu, I use 30 so it doesn't lock up as easily and about 78% ratio so the rear doesn't lock up first

And don't brake hard in turns, light single seaters don't like that
Plus step on the clutch if you have one, as the engine braking when you brake with clutch in will throw the car off balance in the lower gears, 1-2 especially. Otherwise left foot brake and keep a little gas on

Thanks for the tips - will try it out later. Don't have a clutch though, using a Logitech DF EX.

Have you licensed yours? I'm really impressed with it, but want to know how active the multiplayer community is as I can see it getting a little tired without some competition involved eventually.

Nope, still on demo mode. There is not enough content to entice me, as much as I love the feel and physics. There are hardly any online games being run, and without AI and more normal cars.

Well the physics have certainly changed!

The tyres now have much more bite, and you can actually catch slides and drift the car in the demo 👍
before it felt more like the 370z in the GT5 Time Trial ;)

Nice and driveable even with a Logitech dual stick control pad

Just updated to 1.1 myself, and the performance is utterly awful!

With the same settings in LFS, I'm getting 70-80FPS whilst hot-lapping. In nKP, it's nothing more than a slide show. If you ride the curb, it's slows down altogether and the next screen refresh has you in the nearest wall :-/

Wow, cannot get my head around that one!

might be some issue with your system
when I installed it, I skipped all the Direct X and extras since I already have all the latest versions of them

I have a Pentium 4, 3.2ghzm, ie ancient and slow, and it runs smooth as butter

Yeah, you're probably right. I've not read any other reports of this happening.

My system is quite old:
3.2 P4 HT
2GB RAM
X800XT

I've always had an issue with CPU temps, which have not improved even after installing some additional cooling.

I was surprised with the comparison though with LFS, as the difference is quite noticable. With 8 or so cars in LFS on-line, I do drop to 30FPS or so, but hot-lapping is much better.

It's probably your video card, it's way ancient! :)

Upgraded to a Nvida 7900GT many years back and it can still run most current games, overclocked. In LFS I can get over 60fps even with AI and other cars.
It has SM3.0 which your card lacks, which might be the problem

You should pickup the last and fastest AGP video card from ATI. It's about 50% faster than my card.
Should be dirt cheap 2nd hand now

I believe the ATI 3870 was the last, fastest AGP card. 3870, 3850 and 4670 in that order
Even an 3850 would be enough

Thanks for your advice.

My card is actually an X1950 with 512MB, with latest Catalyst drivers: should this run nKP smoothly?

Replaced the X800XT ages ago! Forgot about that :-/

I am mindful of "thread-jacking" here, but information on an appropriate card is hopefully helpful to others too.

Ahhh that should be fine then, thought you still had an X800xt :)

maybe try and download the latest Direct X, that's all I can think of

Just a quick bump to say that I downloaded the latest patch today, which has improved the performance by a considerable margin. With the same graphic settings as before, I am now getting between 35-60 FPS with the 500 on Newbury. Would be nice to have a constant >50 FPS, but this update has at least made the sim drivable again.

I am liking the 500, but suffering quite badly with under-steer (probably my poor driving). One thing worth a mention in nKP is the Motec display: it really is very cool indeed!

If anyone else was having performance problems, I would very much recommend updating with the latest patch.

I recently purchased nkpro after playing the demo for a while, and im loving it. But I have not had many good races online, due to the fact that there is usually only one other person in the race.

So im just wondering if any of you guys would like to organise a some races in the future? Ive looked at the leagues for nkpro, and they look too serious and confusing. The racedeparment racing club looks good, however their next race is being held at 20:00 GMT, which is in the morning for me in Australia and I need to go to school.

Anyone up for some races?

Hi Brad,

I'm in Melbourne Aus and have the same issues. I'm also signed up on RaceDepartment but finding it hard to join any club events because of the race times. It'd be nice if there was a lobby system where you could just create a race and jump in with friends instead of always being league/club servers with no one on them...

NKPro has the best handling of all the sims imo, I just wish I could do more with it!

Can't wait for the three new cars (KS2 - GP2 equivalent, Osella and another non-open wheeler), the wet weather racing and the new tracks (especially Mugello).

If you don't have all the extra tracks/skins added, get them here:

Hey,

I dont have a gt legends cd, so i cant get oschersleben, barcelona, donnington, and some others. Ive got most of them though.
