Well I got round to trying this today, jesus it's hard. I was just on the demo so I had the slower single seater and a couple of tracks. I could barely get the thing around a corner or brake without locking up or spinning. I've never driven a real racing car but I'm sure it can't be that hard. If it is then I would much rather have a sim not quite so hard, personally, because that wasn't fun at all.

Terrible1fi and JVM's advice is spot on. Also, the F1600 is probably the trickiest car to drive in the game because of no downforce and it's tires. Many people think the uptake on NKP would be much higher if Kunos had used another, easier car for the demo. I'm inclined to agree.

That being said, once you get to grips with it and sort out the brake bias and pressure, it becomes so much fun sliding it around and is now one of my favourite cars in the game.

The F1600, F1800, F200 and FTarget also respond very well to the "hardmode" ffb algorithm, giving the cars a better feel, and make them much more intuitive to drive.

Go into the folder "nkpro13" where the game itself "netKar_PRO_NT" is located > open the folder "cfg" > open file nkpro.ini in notepad and change the line

HARDMODE=0 to HARDMODE=1. Save and exit.

Only the 1600, 1800, 2000 and FTarget need this setting. For the other cars make sure to set it back to HARDMODE=0

Not sure if you can change it in the demo, but give it a shot. And then go out and buy the game, and get modding. You won't regret it.

Digital Majik, I would like to try modding in NetKar , can you point me in the right direction?
Particularely is there a way to add real life tracks?

What didn't you like about iRacing?
What i didn't like is that like many sims, there seems to be sometimes an invisible force that prevents you from regaining control of the car if it starts skidding, especially at low speeds. I subscribed to iRacing just for the Legend and the Mazda MX5, those are very fun cars IRL and you can push them really hard ; i just don't like the way they behave in iRacing, too twitchy. The difference with Netkar is the control over the car, in Netkar i feel i'm always in control if i react fast and precisely. Apart from that, iRacing is a great game, with great graphics and a very dedicated community... i guess it's just nor for my taste ;)

I too am really looking forward to Assetto Corsa, maybe another 6-10 months? It certainly looks promising.
The first demo should be out in september, and the full game later on this year... from what i've read many people who tried it at Gamescom say it looks pretty much finished

There are two main websites/forums that you need to know:

http://www.radiators-champ.com/

http://www.drivingitalia.net/index.html

Yes you can find lots of real tracks done very well. Radiators Springs Racing (the first link) have some very high quality tracks. Mugello, Imola and Com8's Nordschliefe conversion are musts IMO. As are texture packs for both tracks and cars (HD interiors, steering wheel, tires etc.), as they make a significant improvements to the graphics/immersion. There's also a great sound overhaul pack for the KS2 floating about.

Also don't forget, RSR have created a full addon car; the Gallardo Balboni which is great to drive.

You can get Ferrari Virtual Academy quite cheap now as the price has been reduced. Might be for a limited time only: http://www.ferrarivirtualacademy.com/game/en/download.jsp

It is the more the step in between netKar Pro and Assetto Corsa physics wise and cars are quite easy to drive and FFB is very good with HardMode on 1.

Thank you, I am totally new to modding, I went to RSR, downloaded the Gvb file, but so far I am unable to have the Gallardo appear in my Netkar menu with the other cars.

Edit: I was putting the file in the wrong folder, everything seems in order now, this is fun and easy, a brand new frontier for me.:-)

Why is this happening?

How can I have back my door (please)?

Spent most of the afternoon having amazing racing online at Netkar Pro, just wanted to share:cheers:, as I think anyone not doing Netkar right now is missing on a truly fantastic SIM , can I hear Real Simulator.
Warning, after that experience, GT5 might not be ever the same for you, LOL, you have been warned.
CSR-E and CSW user, you don't know how good your wheel is until you tried it in NetKar Pro or Assetto Corsa.:gtpflag:

Agreed, netkar Pro is 👍

My problem, I have a SRW S1 wheel and it's only 360° max. It's is nealy impossible to get the steering correctly in netkar Pro. It is overly sensitive. Only the Fiat 500 is do-able.

It's the same in AC (Assetto Corsa). Lord Kunos himself said on the AC bug forum, that you have to live with that or buy a new wheel (that's what he literally said).
