Neutral gear

In gt7, some cars like the porsche turbo '81 have a neutral gear when pressing the clutch on a g29/g920. Some other cars don’t have that like the old sambabus. Why do only some cars have it? And also i am thinking about buying an h shifter and if i buy it, will i be able to go into neutral when pressing the clutch, because that wouldnt make any sense.
Thanks

I don't know if this will help.....but I'm using a g923 with an H shifter. I find that the paddle shifters are the primary
and what I use next will take over. If I go with the shifter, it's like an auto clutch. I can shift without using the clutch
pedal. Doing this, there is no neutral. Now when I go from the paddles and use the clutch pedal...I get neutral.
I haven't noticed if it works that way for all the cars. I'm not sure if the H shifter makes a difference or if it's just
the sequence that is used.

If you use the clutch with a shifter attached, you have to use the shifter properly, and there is a neutral state, as well as a missed gear state. As soon as you use the paddles the shifter defaults back to clutchless shifts until you use the clutch again.

This is all dependent on whether the car actually has a manual gearbox. If you've fitted the top racing gearbox, it'll be clutchless all the time.

As far as I know, it's only with a shifter fitted, and a manual transmission in the car, that you can actually stall.

I use the T-GT and TH8A but I assume it's the same mechanic for all.

This. With the racing manual gearbox, you actually need to use the clutch when shifting on the H shifter, and you can put it in neutral like in a normal car.

I don't know about stock cars, probably the same thing, depends what gearbox is fitted from the factory.

I have an H patter shifter for my Logi set (Pro wheel but still use the OE G29 pedals). I really like the extra engagement using the shifter, especially on cars in the game that are indeed a true manual. Also, some of the older cars it's much more picky on getting the shifts done correctly and slowly enough (787B for example), which makes sense as the technology in the transmission of cars back then pales in comparison to today.

GT7 does a really good job of incorporating this, IMO. Every time you put in the clutch, the HUD will show an N rather than the gear. And it's legit, as in you can be cruising at 100mph, put in the clutch while still having the shifter in 4th gear, pin the throttle and the revs will bounce off the limiter while you continue to coast; obviously this mimics real life. No one would ever really do that but what this mechanic allows is for more realistic heel-toe downshifts. You can also skip gears as well (5th to 3rd, for example).

And, it's hella fun. Especially when you take a cammed ZR1 to the ring! You can see the N pop up in the HUD in between every shift, both up and down.

I can't speak for all of the cars in the game, but I'd venture to guess if you have a clutch pedal (which G29 pedals do) then just pushing it in will yield a N within the HUD. Admittedly, I don't use it often as you can only use it in 1P mode as they've been programed out of Sport Mode, which is a bummer.

For a skill in driving which is getting more and more lost in each generation, it's cool to see it's able to be used in GT7. Personally, I love stick shift; every car I've ever owned has had three pedals to this day. But, likely the next won't as they're just being phased out of existence (at least here in the states). :(

I get it now, thanks so much.

Thats probably why. It didn’t work fir the cars i had a racing transmission for.

Thanks for writing such a long reply. Really helpful. Thanks!

No, if it's in gear it'll still show that gear when the clutch is pressed. You gave to take it out of gear to get a N.
