Why oh why does no one share anything on this forum apart from a few people?!

Anyway...i was having a play around with Photoshop and i created a new Action set. Nothing special but i was aiming for something abit more arty. I wasn't trying to replicate the look of a hand crafted masterpiece, just something that looks a bit different after some tweaking.

This isn't the best set but have a go and see what you can create. I'm sure you can all produce better pictures than i have from using it!

Here are a few examples of what this action does...

As with all actions, they can make a picture look great or make a picture look awful so bare in mind that results WILL vary!

If you use this action and you create something good, please share it so we can see it.

You can download the action below.

That aston shot about made me fall out of my chair. wow, I am literally speechless.

Guess I need to go sift through all pages of your gallery. Are you using the cutout filter on some of those actions? looks cool!

Dig the cool toned action too.

Yeah that looks good mate. 👍

Since you aprove, I used Softglow (all on maximum) and then Colour Balance-> Cyan-> everything (Shadows, Midtones and Highlits on 8.)

I'm still planning to do a video tutorial on how I edit my pictures, but I didn't have the time and am still not sure if people actually want to see it.

Anyway, nice stuff again lee!

I'd love to see how you edit your stuff mate 👍

Love the contrast in that picture, Jiggins; thanks for sharing your action with the community, too, Lee! 👍 👍

So does anyone have an requests regarding Tutorials, Photoshop/GIMP Brushes, Actions or whatever?

I'm sure between us all we could come up with something.

Is this any good? I toned down some of the effects, and I see that the curbing almost intersects with the roofline, but I had to choose between that, and showing the sandtrap behind the car. I think the shadows underneath the car are too dark, but I like the amount of contrast everywhere else...:scared: I'm thinking of turning this photo into a banner, hence the large whitespace at the top. Any suggestions for improving? Should I add or subtract anything to make this better? This is a great action by the way, thanks for sharing! 👍

It has been a while, but I thought I would bring out a nice and simple action file for CS5+ (it might work with lower, so you might have to give it a try), it contains 3 actions:

A Sharpening action (Not noticeable as a thumbnail but full-size it is):
Before and after.

A Contrast Fixer (Doesn't work too well on most dark photos):
Before and after.

And an action which does both in one:
Corvette C7 before and after.
Evo VIII before and after.
Gallardo before and after.
HEP G37 before and after.

The action is right here.

I hope this can help some of you and bring some decent results! Cheers for looking!

Nice set of actions. Good work and thanks for sharing.

A good rain tutorial, also when your working with perspective
Hopefully someone will do one...could you elaborate on what you want from the tutorial?

In light (ahem) of your latest dreamy offering Lee, how about a small tutorial on how to add light effects?
Oooooo, i may get round to doing one. It's quite easy really, that last rally shot i done didn't take long.

I'll see what i can do when i get the time. 👍

Nvrmind on the perspective, I just need a good rain tutorial

Ok, after seeing Garrett's brilliant tutorial on, Controlling the Lights at Red Bull Hangar, it reminded me of a simple RGB technique i use.

Basically, it uses RGB layers that correct the colour exposure of an image. By that i mean you could have a picture of a great looking car and when you look at the image on your computer, the colours can look a little bit washed out or you could have a bright red that looks great but the rest of the image colours aren't as good looking as the red.

You can correct all of that by utilising layers, curves, levels, saturation and so on but using the action i've attached below, it will fix the colours and give your image a bit or a polish for you without trying to fix all the seperate colours one by one.

Sometimes you can try and correct the green of the grass or whatever and you will see that can often lead to problems with the yellow in the image and so on, so this action can help fix the colours in some pictures automatically.

I've also included my quick and easy Cinematic actions to add that movie look to your picture. So once you've got a picture you're happy with, run one of the Cinematic actions and let it do it's thing then you can adjust the layers to taste, chances are they WILL need adjusting as i've left the effects pretty strong.

Now as always, these actions will work great on one image and will ruin another so you will have to experiment with the layers to get the best results.

I used Photoshop CS6 to create the actions and i'm sure they'll work in most of the older Photoshops but i can't promise anything.

Sorry to all you GIMP users, i don't have it so i can't create a simlar action for you guys :nervous::ill:

Anyway, here are a few examples of what the action will do...feel free to use it or abuse it...or, just ignore it completely!

------------------------------------------------------

This Aston image already looked alright, but the RGB action balanced out the colours exposure and added a more polished finish even though it's a subtle polish!:

------------------------------------------------------

Up in the Eiger mountains now, the RGB effect is a great way to equalize those colour values so they're all in the same range. You can see the slight improvement in the grass as well as how the sun is hitting the mountain behind, again it's a subtle change but the image is a lot more harmonious:

irv1.jpg

after
d1uo.jpg

------------------------------------------------------

Another very subtle change here but you can see how it's added alot of distance to the mountains behind by correcting the exposures of the misty effect:

after
2iv5.jpg

------------------------------------------------------

This Lambo at Madrid ended up looking alot more "Real" after using the action, It slightly desauturated the image as well as giving it a slight lightening effect. As you can see the sky is a bit less blue and the trees have lost a bit of the overly green cast to them...again, subtle!

before
qvkw.jpg

after
u9d5.jpg

------------------------------------------------------

Here you can see how the RGB action has corrected the greenery but left the rest of the photo the way it was as the other colours were ok:

after

------------------------------------------------------

This one is a good example of how this action can "Fix" alot of pictures.

You can see how the sky has an odd blue glow to it in the first picture but as you can see below, the action has improved the sky but left the car's blue paint work intact and slightly corrected the yellowy/green grass but left the yellowy/green headlights their correct colour...clever stuff!

before
7r7u.jpg

after
95iu.jpg

------------------------------------------------------

This is another great example of how this action fixes the colours from the game.

You can see in th first picture that there is a very very slight green cast to the whole picture and the water going off into the distance is pretty much the same value as the water in the foreground. The action has removed a bit of the green colour cast without affecting the colour of the car and it's made the distant water abit lighter, as it should be!:

after

------------------------------------------------------

This next one shows how the action can correct the values of the colours as well as improving the exposure of any colours that remains a little flat, i've increased the saturation to show how the action keeps the exposure spot on, not any one colour is more prominent then the others.

you can see how it's corrected the silver on the car to be the correct level to the rest of the image as it looked a bit flat in the first one.

Now here are a few of the shots from above that i've added the Cinematic action too...

------------------------------------------------------

Ok ok ok, so many of you who have made it this far must be thinking, i can't see much difference in those examples?!

Well, i'm afraid that the RGB action isn't a sexy effect. It won't make your photos look a million dollars but what it does give you is a good platform to start with but correcting as many of the washed out colours as it can without you having to go through each colour and correct them individually which can be a nightmare.

However, remember that you don't have anything to lose, if you don't like the result just don't use it, there have been many pictures i've ran the action on and it hasn't looked good, but it's also made many images look alot better before i've actually got down to editing them properly.

So don't expect a miracle, think of the RGB action as an auto colour repairer...the cinematic actions are just for fun.

Remeber, these actions will need to be tweaked to the image you're using so experimant with them, use them, discard them, love them or hate them...just have fun creating brilliant images anyway you can!

👍👍

This thread has taught me everything about making a picture awesome. So happy to see another action. :D I'll edit in/post some results after I've had time to process this through.

Works like a charm!
