New Car sounds a must?

No, it would be nice to see these radical improvements in the future that Kaz has been hinting at, but I've coped just fine for the last 15 years so it's not gonna be a game changer for me if they're almost the same as GT5.

Yes, we do need new engine sounds and according to gtplanet news it seems that it very much did improve.

Would it improve the game? Absolutely, but I don't think they're a must to enjoy it.

Yes, I'm not playing a game where the cars sound like they recorded a bunch of pissed off bees.

Hopefully these new sounds we are going to get are a real improvement. Sounds are low on the list for me, but they do really help with immersion of the game. I sometimes think even better sound could enhance our perception of speed. Think about when people drive fast electric cars. Almost every time the first thing the talk about is the lack of sound, but how weird it is because the speed is still there. We have become accustomed to it. Speed and sound go together nicely.

I think the perception of speed problem lies with the lack of motion blur and no increased wind/road noise etc.

Yes, Sound is one of the 3 main pilars that constitute the core gameplay and in the case of a ''simulator'', physics and sounds count a lot more towards immersion than graphics. Some people might be able to cope with the current sounds but that doesn't make any less true that they MUST be improved. PD are in the bussiness for our money and it's their job to deliver, it's not like a charity where we can give them hall passes and such.

I agree those two things would help. I also think a nice aggressive engine/exhaust note help too. Think about when you see a slow Honda in real life with a nice exhaust. It could be going awfully slow, but if you didn't see it you might think it were a rocket ship.

This for me is the biggest indication of an improvement in this area

The AMG sports exhaust system with eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end provides a powerful accompaniment whenever the car accelerates, and ensures an unrivaled motorsports sound experience.

For fans of Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-AMG sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8′s love of high engine speeds.

I am awaiting to hear the results of this and what it means for GT as a whole with eager anticipation

Ahem. GT as a whole? It's one car:confused:

Sorry should clarify GT as a whole being the Gran Turismo series for 6 onwards.

To me it's an indication that if MB are doing this for the game then they maybe using what Kaz has advised PD have been working on in relation to the improved car sounds

Or maybe they've played the game and know what a bangup job they've done with engine sounds:ouch: so far and wanted to avoid the embarassment of their beautiful turbo V8 sounding like a muffled V6:lol:

Well my dumb self preordered anyway, knowing full well that sound would probably be the same as GT5--so no, redoing those clearly isn't a must for me.

Newly recorded engine sounds are a 'very nice to have,' but one that I personally believe that GT6 won't ever be seeing. They'd have to track down every car--some of which no longer exist or are hard to get hold of (for example the Furai). Maybe they'll work on better 3d surround, or generic tire/wind/gear/intake noise to place around the old engine sounds. Sure that's a bit like putting lipstick on a pig--but it's still an improvement.
