"New Cars on Sale" now in-game
Additional vehicles distributed in a new way
After the release of Gran Turismo 5, over 30 cars were released as both free-of-charge or paid DLC. From the Corvette C7 Test Prototype, to the Scion FR-S, to the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and to the Red Bull X2011 Prototype, the hottest new cars were added to the line-up and made available to everyone via download from the PlayStation®Store.
Gran Turismo 6 will contain approximately 1200 cars at time of release, and more and more cars are planned to be added thereafter. Unlike the previous title, the added cars will appear directly in the dealerships after an update, and will be available to purchase in game. You will be able to enjoy driving the newest cars right after they are released in the market.

Not too different from GT5. After the game was updated and there was new DLC, you could see the new machines in the dealership and probably buy them from there with real money.

No you couldn't Sparky. You had to go to the psn store seperately, download the file, install, enable in GT5 menu and then you got one of each model for no in game credits delivered to your garage.

But I think what is happening with GT6, (and what the OP is drawing attention to perhaps) is that you can now buy them from the dealership in that way, that maybe the purchase car button will just open the PSN store in game, rather than having to exit the game to complete the transaction.

Correct, it was announced a while ago.

I see. Never bought DLC :ouch:

The phrasing from the GT website is ambiguous (deliberately?), one could (naively, perhaps) infer that all future update content will be free of charge - if 'purchase in game' is read as in the context of actual gameplay.

Most of their info for GT6 has been rather ambiguous and full of mystery. Could be either hype or just the way they've always done things. I'm not entirely sure.

OR could this mean that all cars will be available to you, but you would have to buy them via the microtransaction account?

I would have probably purchased more DLC if I could have literally bought those cars in game with real money, without having to exit, go to the PlayStation Store and boot up GT5 again. If what @iainoflo85 is saying is true, I'll be very happy :)

Me too, if that is the case, then they certainly realise all the faffing about involved for purchasing just one car and have taken appropriate measures to reduce it.

A lot of the "free" cars we got were given out by code... I remember when one of the stealth model codes were out for a week and I got mine on the last day it would be open...

Or like @jsjakesaid said. That was kinda funny.

If they don't sound right they won't be enjoyable at all.. therefore pointless to purchase. (just an observation)

Pointless and not enjoyable to you? Yes.
Pointless and not enjoyable to me? No.

Don't omit the part where it's an opinion.

But it still appeared in the garage after the update. So it's pretty similar.

You are "omitting" the part where 75% of GT users agree with my opinion.
"75%" is an assumption. I do not include assumptions in my posts, for the most part. An opinion is still an opinion, and you should regard it as such. Don't spread opinion as if it's a fact.

On topic: I definitely hope that they allow you to go straight to the PSN store from the game. Screwing about with navigating through the store outside of GT5 was a nightmare.

The point about the DLC is it is now going to be like Forza DLC. When you buy the DLC you will now have to buy the cars in game using credits. Now longer will you get the cars sent to your garage after buying the DLC.

I don't think we can conclude this quite yet from the info we have, but if it's true...yeah that's not good.

From the GT6 home page at the very bottom.
