How do I get assigned to a division for the WRS?

Newb question that I haven't found a definitive answer to yet...

I'd like to race this week, but don't know what division I'd be in (I can take a good guess).

TIA for any help.

When you run your Qual Race, and submit your time to CFM, he assigns you to a Division by the time you give for that race. This information can be requested in a PM after your qualify, so you can see what all the qualifing times were.

You do not need to wait on this though to race the WRS race. Submit your Qual time, then move on to the current race at hand.

Thanks Tele.

Appreciate it.

Since there are alot of new drivers starting now that GT4 has been released, I thought it would be a good idea to make this thread a general Q&A thread for any questions anyone may have. Maybe it will save me answering some PM's too.:)

Q)I want to join what do i do?
A)First you race the qualifier, which everyone must do before they compete in the WRS. You do the qualifier then you get placed in a division. No times are to be discused in the OLR section

Q) Is it too late to enter?
A) The GT3 qualifier was the same for the entire 2 years the GT3 WRS ran (104 weeks). Expect the GT4 qualifier to stay the same and stay open until GT5 WRS.

Q) I have a division now what do i do?
A) Once you have yourself a division you can compete in the competition each week (hence Weekly Race Series) You can enter a week at any time as long as you submit before the deadline (Tuesday April 19th, 8:00am EST (Tuesday 1:00pm GMT) If it is past the deadline, you can wait for the next week to be posted, which happens not long after the deadline.

Q) How can i change division?
A) In your division you can go up or down depending on your performance against the rest of your division. Also if you request to go up and you think your ready to compete against the higher division then it is ok to ask CFM if you can.

Q) What do i include in my submission each week?
A) PM CFM your final time/ division/ name

If you have any other questions don’t be afraid to ask, but I suggest you check out the WRS archive to see how the GT3 races where run and to see what types of combos we ran. In total, WRS organized 106 Official races, spread over 2 years and 2 weeks.

Boombexus started it all, then Kent took over at week 53 and now CFM is the man at gt4 week 2.

Also check out the Rules

Hi, sorry if this is not in the right thread but I have a few questions about the DFP and the fast guys using it in the races :

1. What setting do you use on the wheel (60% or 100% Force Feedback) ?
2. What settings in the Options screen (Simulation/Professional/Amateur) ? Are there any other settings ? Sorry not in front of GT4 at the moment.
3. Does the DFP default to 900% when you start the game ?

Thanks !

am i a fast guy?

i use the DFP though.

Power assits = on
Active assit = off
force feed back = strong
GT Force = simulation

hope that helps :)

Hi small chips :)

Yes you are faster than me, so you are fast ! And in Div. 1 ! So obviously you can drive just a little bit ... just joking haha.

Thanks for the info, will try and improve with your settings, mine was on Professional setting ... does simulation make such a big difference ?

apparently that setting makes no difference for the Driving Force Pro (900degree), only for the Driving Force (blue one), But i just put it on sim anyway lol

I'm not too sure about that ... as it's under the DFP setting right ? I have also heard that, but like alot of those type of questions, nothing has been proved or has it ...

well it says so in the manual as well, but like i said i run sim just in case

If you read the scrolling text in the DFP options, it says the steering type is disabled when you use the DFP, so pro, sim, am, makes no difference.

BTW, I'm using the same setts as Small_Fryz.👍

hey i was just wondering, what level of difficulty are you DFP players using?

theres amatuer, professional and simulation i think?

i just noticed mine is on amatuer but am thinking of putting it to simulation?

Doubt I'll ever place high enough for my time to come into question, but how would I go about saving/submitting my lap times (to prove they are legit)?

EDIT: Nevermind I found the thread, sorry :)

Yes, it only makes a difference if you are using the old regular Driving Force wheel. (aka the blue non-900 degrees one). In GT3 the setting did make a nice difference when using the DFP, and I found the Simualtion setting to be the best one for me.

Hi,

Off topic again sorry ... but if someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated :

As I am a senior member on the GTP forum, how do I go up to another "level" of member, or has this been taken away ? Is it still no. of posts ? I know when I joined I could only select avatars from the webpage, not my own ... ?

it goes up by as you post more, though once you have 500 posts i think you can have your own

I searched for threads about this but couldn't find any, so I just have to ask (even tho I'm pretty sure it has been discussed before).

Can ppl with PAL and NTSC versions of the game compete against each other ?

Is it fair ?

I don't mean to whine or upset anyone, I'm just wondering.

hey guys, i just have a question regarding cars and tracks we will be using in the series. If i remember correctly all the tracks aren't available and a large number of the cars aren't. will we need to unlock certain cars and tracks so we can race the in the WRS?

Correct, this weeks you must unlock in GT Mode, think someone said it was day 281. There are threads on here about save games with all tracks / cars unlocked if you have a Max Drive to transfer it over, and for some a second memory card so you don't mess with your game information.

I don't know if many peope will agree with me, but I'm just gunna put it out there.

Can there be different divisions between the 3 Divisions of the WRS?

Such as:

WRS Div. 1 - DFP
WRS Div. 1 - DS2

WRS Div. 2 - DFP
WRS Div. 2 - DS2

WRS Div. 3 - DFP
WRS Div. 3 - DS2

Do you think it would be more fair if there was a divison between people with Driving Force Pro's and Dual Shock 2 users?

I think it would be a little bit more fair, and the competition might be even closer.

Maybe we can post comments or even vote about this?

I'm not trying to split it up, but I don't wanna spend $150 for a driving wheel for the only video game I own. I'm not trying to be cheap but I don't think it's worth it; I know many of you will say it's worth it because you have better control over the car or the game feels ten times better..

Well i dont think its really worth it to split it up. Many people in the GT3 WRS never had a wheel.

But i can see where your coming from, DS2 has the potential to be just as fast as a DFP, it is impossible to get any faster times, however on most combos it is a little easier on the DFP.

You dont have to spend lots of money, you can just get the DF (blue wheel) if you like. If the divisions get split up whats stopping the top guys submitting a DS2 and DFP time?. The top guys are only a few tenths slower on DS2, some may even be just as fast. Not all Combos we run in WRS will be easier with the DFP.

There is no difference at all.

If i had the ablity to perform exact same runs I would get the same times on either PAL or NTSC.

But can you be 100% sure about that statement Dion? why would a PAL user who has PAL & NTSC GT4 run the NTSC when they obviously have the choice to run both 💡

PD done it before and it's not impossible for them to do it again :dopey:

I dont quite get what you mean Ron.

I dont have NTSC version, but from what ive seen in my OLR experience (not as long as yours :P) is that it makes no difference what version you run.

Im sure you have both NTSC and PAL so maybe your the better person to ask

It's a little off topic but:

I have the NTSC (CHN) version and when I tried out this week's WRS (Evo MR), I noticed that the rules stated +20% ps, or 386ps. But when I went for tuneup, +20% came out to be something like 39x ps, maybe even 4xx. So I switched to the NTSC JPN GT4, same numbers.

Does anyone has the same issue?
