It's a little off topic but:

I have the NTSC (CHN) version and when I tried out this week's WRS (Evo MR), I noticed that the rules stated +20% ps, or 386ps. But when I went for tuneup, +20% came out to be something like 39x ps, maybe even 4xx. So I switched to the NTSC JPN GT4, same numbers.

Does anyone has the same issue?

CFM numbers are in HP, PS is a little more, so no need to worry :)

Thanks Small_Fryz, now I can give that Evo a little more ponies to tackle Autumn Ring. :)

Finally some discussion. 👍

I don't know if it has anything to do with this, but if I remember correctly there were differenses in the first GT between PAL and NTSC.
The license test times weren't the same for both versions.

I just thought maybe there are more differenses... (in GT4).

Some of the licence times and Driving Mission times are different between NTSC and PAL versions. Some are easier to beat in PAL and some are harder to beat in PAL. As far as driving dynamics both games should be virtually identical. Some people said the NTSC GT3 was easier to rally in, and personally I've always thought it not to really hold any water, but I really wouldn't know since I only have the NTSC versions of GT 1-4.

The bottom line is you can't blame the version of the game you have if you're not achieving the results you want, at least as far as I'm concerned. ;)

I've seen AMAZINGLY faster DS2 users and I tend to be quicker (in PGR2) with a controller rather than a wheel. I think if we put controllers next to times on the leaderboard, you'd probably see a fairly even split.

I don't think there's enough discrepancy between DS2 and DFP times to justify this. I mean, check the spread of users on Luxy's leaderboard.

I would say the series is still very young though for the DFP and who knows, a discrepancy may become more evident as more races go by, but at this time I'd vote no on dividing DS2 and DFP users.

Hmm, thanks for the input.

Maybe later on the in WRS we might see a pattern, and if not that's ok, but we could be able to discuss this once again if there is such a pattern.

I don't think you would see a big separation as long as there are fast drivers using each controller. It's 99% driver and maybe a small advantage to DFP users.

Not exactly a n00b, and not exactly new to racing, but I would like to know which courses are best for getting used to driving with the DFP. Thanks in advance.

Just spending time with it in general will pay off. I took about 2 months away from OLR to just run laps with all different cars every day before GT4 came out, and it really paid off for me. Each track any car has it's own quirks, so try them all.:) Should only take about 3,674,193,833 days. Or join the WRS of course, lots of practice to be had here.👍

Join the WRS, and run the nurb.

I got used to mine by running the nurb.

Question...
Are there going to be rally races in GT4 WRS? :)

Yes, but they will be rather rare compared to tarmac races. I'm all for it but I know a lot of people don't like them.:indiff:

Too bad!
BTW:Grand Canyon,best rally track ever made! 👍

Large_Fryz
it sure will take time to get use to it. :scared:

Yeah :indiff:

I think i will either run in Div3 that week with the DFP, or run in div2 and use the DS2 :dopey: 💡

Hi,
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm new to this. How would I go about proving my lap times. I have a USB flash drive to save the photos on, but how could I submit a replay, or something to prove a time.

Many Thanks,
Alex

Does anyone know whether the NTSC/US Max Drive is compatible with a NTSC/JPN PS2?

Is the JPN PS2 modded to play US games? If yes, I would guess it would work. If not, I would guess that it wont. Maybe they make a JPN version of the Max Drive? Try Play-Asia.com. Maybe someone here who has the JPN version can comment better than I can. Anyone?

I posted the question after looking at Small_Fryz's links. It was either PAL/EU or NTSC/US. So I really don't know... :boggled:

Yes my PS2 was modded to be able to play US games.

I would assume a NTSC/US Max Drive should work fine, since your PS2 plays NTSC/US games then. I guess you could pick one up and see if they would accept a return if for some reason it didn't work. I know that the Best Buy stores around here carry them, along with some game shops.

hi I am new and have ran 2 races and honestly I am discuraged because it seems to that is is impossible for me to run the time you guys run. I think it might be my settings or the equipment I have. I ran the qualifing race an first race with and Madcatz mc2 steering wheel then switched to the hand controller and I Picked up about 4 seconds a lap doing that. I see a bunch of you are using wheels that are much faster than me which do you think I should use a controller or a wheel? I would also like anytips you guys could give me and the rest of the back markers.

Wich one do you prefer?I use DS2 because I don't have a wheel and I'm happy with it! 👍

As one can see in the stats on the races each week, every division has their drivers with wheels (DF or DFP or whatever) and without ... I don't think a wheel will make you faster or slower than a DS2 (for the 1st while slower !) ... I think some tracks/cars suit the wheel better and others not ... like last week I posted my best time with the EVO round Autumn Ring with the DS2, not the DFP ...

It takes time to match your own lap times with the DS2, with the wheel ... but once one gets used to the wheel, I don't think many will still play with the DS2, it's just not so realistic and fun !

I use the DS2 still. I used a steering wheel once back in GT1 but didn't like it. Of course, that was when I disliked the game *GASPERS!*. I wouldn't believe it if it weren't me.

I want to get a DFP2, but they're roughly 100 USD!!! Too expensive for me. Sorry. I'd love to have one, though. ...Anyone willing to part with one...?

hi !
I'm new here, in this genius site.

I hope you can help me with some questions:

- how can we race together on the net, with GT4, when they say the game can't go online at the internet???
-and how?
- must I have computer to connect the PS2 to?
- and have to joined this genius happening!!!
