NEW EXPLOIT - Tyre "healing" without stopping

Hopefully people are going to be capable of refraining from exploiting this till it's fixed.
Tire wear are my favorite races :(

Can someone get this to PD asap

I've just started a private lobby at Dragon Trail in the Mercedes GT3. Pressing the options button on the DS4 didn't change the tyre wear but when I pressed on the options button in the pause menu in game it did heal the tyres. I'll try and upload the before and after ASAP

That's just crazy. How in the world do people find this stuff. I log on just to play normal and don't go looking for ways to get an advantage. But for those that do the odds of finding something like this is not in your favor as there literally thousands of different combinations of buttons to push. Just makes you wonder what eles is out there nobody has found yet.

I've had a few tire wear races where I will catch some car up that has its hazzards on going slow, then it will suddenly shoot off again and leave me for dust in the corners. I recall seeing that player before, so it may have been the same guy each time.

I had thought how nice someone was for putting their hazzards on while they served a time penalty.

EDIT : giving him the benefit of doubt, he could have gone for a quick toilet break, or pressed the button by accident.
I often press the pause button by mistake when I'm trying to change the fuel setting!

Never had the good fortune of the tyres being refreshed though.....

How can people do this and feel any form of self worth? Absolutely pathetic. The grip bug could have almost been defended as an issue of which a player wasn't aware, but this is the lowest of the low - somebody has found it out and has been exploiting it, to the extent they've been actively hiding it!

Can be done in 2-3 seconds if you scroll across to 'Options' in the pause menu fast enough and then press exit as soon as you see the tyre bar go fully white again.

wow that bug! raced many times with you and him, he must have found out recently. no point in doing those daily races anymore, man the only fun races are daily races c. i raced with him in the campionship season 13, race 1 on suzuka, didn`t notice anything strange.

Happened to me last night, 2nd place, penultimate lap guy goes past me like i'm cruising, 2 secs a lap quicker, lead crashes out. Thought it was a glitch, didn't think anymore about, till i saw OP. :-(

watch tires carefully

Lmao, I mean it's kinda hilarious that something that simple causes such a huge bug that can potentially ruin online gameplay. The first person who discovered this probably did it by accident. I'm actually surprised it took this long to surface.

But the grip bug, now this....PD needs to get this **** under control.

At least we know some people on here can get this into the hands of PD and hopefully PD responds fast by taking the tire wear race's offline until this can be patched. Because the longer its allowed to stay running in Sport Mode the more innocent people will be cheated.

Well I hope you are all going through your replays now, I know I will be. Shame I haven't saved every race.

Maybe the OP can include this text to remind people...

This is baaaaad

I'm done racing any races with tire wear.

There's one person in particular who is quite often on the US leaderboards who seems to gain an abnormal amount of time in the pits. I'm talking around ~8seconds or so. I couldn't figure it out at the time, even with saving fuel that seems to be a big net gain, but now with this coming to light I bet he isn't even changing tires. Unfortunately I don't believe I have any of those replays saved so I can't confirm 100%.

Remember not to name and shame anyone on gtp :indiff: we don't want any unnecessary bans for fellow gtpers :)

Also raced him many times and chatted on PSN with and others from his tag. Always thought him and they were pretty straight.

He might have just discovered it and is still testing it out. He had no problem tell the OP how he did it so don't crucify the man just yet. Seems to me someone really dishonest wouldn't just give up that kind of information.

I can't imagine anyone in a racing group would dare share this with their team, I know I would kick someone out of my team if they even suggested we use this.
Or I would resign from the team and spread the word if I was the minority.

^^ Thanks, I need reminding that the world isn't all bad.

Just checked and he was back in the midfield in that race so couldn't of exploited it then (or if he did it didn't seem to do him any good). Looks like he won his manufacturers race at Kyoto so maybe worth checking that replay if anyone was in his race then.

This is bad, but what wont help is making a thread about it because now potentially thousands more people know about it and you can be sure many will use it. Perhaps (and nothing against the OPs information to the community) a moderator or admin could delete this thread in its entirity.

No problem

I try to give everyone the chance to explain themselves and not judge before knowing all the facts.
Unfortunately I just watched the OP video in full this time, the 'guy' was discovering and researching it the whole race several times to take the lead.

IMO I retract my benefit of doubt and take benefit of the video evidence.
