New Forza 4 Fanatec wheel (CSR-Elite)

I don't know about the t5000 as I've never used one but I do know my Porsche Turbo 911 Clubsport Edition demolishes my G27 every day of the week.

Yep! The G27 is unusable in Rally racing imo.
But the new Fanatec line looks amazing, and that looks like a analog stick (for smoother viewing angles) so I'm excited:D

The CS shifter has promise, but the cable on the bottom of the unit bothers me. My leg hits it, harder to mount, and gravity plus usability can take its toll, eventually having the cable periodically become loose and fall out.

I'll still buy it though if the 'clicking' is taken care of.

Wait someone post pics Elite vs non Elite. What are the differences?

Will I be able to buy Elite without FM stickers? I would love to see AMG Mercedes-Benz style wheel :D

The Standard CSR has an alloy wheel centre, and uses the existing base design of their other wheels, but is said to have new electronics etc..

The Elite CSR has a carbon wheel centre, and a completely new set of motors and base, it looks like to could be something well inexcess of the T500RS..

There are new CSR Pedals, which are supposed to be slightly inferior to the excellent clubsport pedals, but do allow the pedals to be easily changed between mounting styles (vertical or horizontal).

As for the FM badging, it looks like a standard kind of round badge, I'm just guessing that will easily unclip, and with some double sided sticky tape and an AMG badge, you could sort that out!

I wonder if the CSR will be fully GT5 compatible, remember when the G27 came out the shifter didn't function fully with GT5:P? I'm really trying to find the best wheel for me that will suit both my GT5 and Forza gaming should I choose to buy Forza. I'd also like them to be compatible with my G25 pedals which I know the Fanatec GT2 is, so really need that same question answered for the CSR.

Not sure I agree, the only solution to being a purist is to have interchangeable wheels, and a collection that encompasses every car you want to drive?

Or did you mean you have a real Honda car and would feel cheap having anything non-Honda in your house?

Either way, I think it's just you ;)

(All meant light heartedly.. :))

Hahahaha come on Phil, you are being so extreme! I will have to become a car thief then hahaha.
I will put a Porsche sticker on my Hyundai's steering wheel, to stop thinking like that 👍

Correction the G27 shifter did work in GT5P. It was the paddles that were disengaged because you couldn't disengaged the H-shifter like you could with the G25 or Fanatec wheel. (Ferrari Challenge was another game in which if the game detected a H shifter it disengaged the paddles) I see no reason why you couldn't use CSR in Gt5 since it using a load cell and pots.

Well, lets say you will get the CSR Elite + Shifter (standard?) + CSR pedals for 700 (USD/EURO).
The T500 (without shifterm which I understand people never use when it comes to real competition) goes for 450 (Euro atleast).
Thats around 250e difference.
I just decided on a T500 and NOW this.
Well, I think I'm gonna get the T500 anyways, 700 is out of my range.

Note the interview with some guy from Fanatec(starts at 9:43). This interview would make me very unsure about doing business with this company.

I think the uncertainty regarding customer service is a bigger deal. The CEO being "E3 Punchy" and having a little fun in the interview doesn't bother me at all. My guess is he barely slept all week. It's just silly fun. The Codies seemed to enjoy it too.

I thought he acted like a clown. I want clear info when I see an interview not someone clowning around. It was just that when she asked certain questions he totally avoided them like what you said about the concern over people not getting their wheels. Thats not something to act silly about. Its not often that I find video interviews with people from Fanatec. They may want to take them a bit more seriously. This may be why orders are being lost and whatnot. They don't take things seriously enough.

I bought a GT2 last winter.

Got my wheel and started playing with it. Then it developed a problem (it would not power up immediately) and I mentionned it to Fanatec with an email. 3 days later I got an answer stating they were sending a new wheel.

Got that one 5 days later and :ouch: it was DOA. Same problem; it would not power up. So I email them again and they actualy asked what I wanted to do. I chose to send the wheel for repair so I shipped it to them and got it back within 10 days. It has been working fine since and they paid for all the shipping.

Bottom line for me is: Its not fun to have to wait for them to sort it out but they were always quick to answer my requests and these thing are SOOOOO nice to play with, really a good step above Logitech wheels. I ended up very, very happy with Fanatec product and service. 👍

Woohoo!!! I just got more hours at the second job. More moolah being set aside for one of these.

Aiming at an Elite (estimated $700) but will settle for a CSR setup.

Anyone catch this?

:embarrassed:

Here is more info about the Fanatec wheel.

Sense of humour failure? That 'some guy' was Thomas the CEO giving an hilarious interview as 'Mr T' the Fanatec insider who was giving out the new info without the knowledge of Thomas or Fanatec. Hence the black rectangle across his eyes to hide his identity. If you can't see it was all a tongue in cheek joke then I'm not sure there is any hope for you.

You know when someone says something or does something so embarrassing that you don't even want to acknowledge it happened lest you feel embarrassed too? zr1chris fell into that category. I was hoping people wouldn't say anything and act as if it wasn't even posted but I guess you couldn't help it PzR, could you Slim? You put the spotlight on the gorilla in the room. LOL

Saw the vid last night. I like Thomas's approach with this being Mr. T, wearing a fake mustache and some funky looking glasses. I'd rather have someone human than some robotic PR prick being PC about what he says.

Some stuff was new to me while others not so much. He did hold back on a lot. Seems that shifter is almost there and he might not have launched it as they might be waiting on Thrustmaster to release theirs for the t500rs.

I went from wanting the CSR and drooling over the CSR Elite to wanting the CSR Elite. And now there's that F1 wheel which... well... I WANT TO KNOW MORE INFO ON!!
Decisions!!

I think that shifter IS there. I could swear during the clips of people driving I caught a glimpse of the shifter connected to one of those rigs.

Actually I thought what he did was just stupid. I dont care who he is. The hire up the ranks in the company he is just makes it worse. The guy is a clown. Act professional for crying out loud. She asked a serious question about whats up with some people not getting their wheels and he made a complete mockery out of it. I'm sure the people that ordered their wheels months ago and still haven't received it don't think it was funny. Grow up dude and take some things seriously.

You completely and utterly missed the whole point of the interview. I reckon it must have sailed at 747 cruising altitude above your head. I'll help you though. It was a totally set up interview both parties knew exactly what was going on, in fact Thomas was staying with ISR guys whilst at E3. If you don't get it then you really need to see a Doc for your complete loss of your sense of humour.

Maybe it would have helped if this wasn't the first interview I have seen with him. It didn't make for a good first impression, that's for sure. I have plenty of sense of humor but I still think he should have taken the question about people not getting their wheels a little more seriously since that is a serious matter.

Fair enough and he needs to address that, but that video was not really the forum for it. He has stated his concerns of improving support and ordering on his blog.

ISR had a conventional past interview with Thomas. He also posts product demos and previews from time to time in his YouTube channel. I believe it's Fanatec1.

....went to change underwear.... I WANT F1 WHEEL NOW!!!

It looks awesome doesn't it?

I'm still sticking with the CSR... The new wheel loosely reminds me of a steering wheel that I'd find in a DTM car or a GTS sort of vehicle. Key Word "LOOSELY". I intend on getting my 900º on once all is said and done. It would be a bit difficult with a F1 wheel. But that is my preference. I hope Fanatec applies that sort of treatment to a round wheel (or one with the flat spot on the bottom).

Also... A quick release? Was that on the back of the carbon fiber Elite wheel too?

Man the only dude that could handle that kinda wheel with 900 degrees is this guy....

.... and even he had help.

New info from Thomas's blog.

In the latest episode of inside simracing, Darin talked to a strange guy who shared some secrets from our hidden laboratories.

After showing pictures of the new ClubSport shifter it came even worse as Paul Jeal of Codemasters jumped into the picture and showed one of the new rims of the ClubSport wheel. (I will not forget that, Paul!)

This leak is unacceptable and I will find this guy no matter what it takes.

This situation is now forcing us to unveil more official information sooner as planned so you can expect more details about the clubSport Shifter and ClubSport wheel soon.

In order to avoid the confusion created by this interview I would like to point out that there will be a CSR elite wheel and a ClubSport wheel. The development is not finished yet and we want to implement as many features as possible from the suggestions made by this community.

But it looks like we can take care of almost anything you asked for .

So looks like that F1 rim fits on a completely new base, the Clubsport Wheel, and that there will be other rims that are compatible with it.👍

Thanks for the update.

If this wheel is not available in time for the release of Forza 4 I think I will be going with the GT2. Unfortunately, this is looking like the case.

Its the agony that is E3 and similar shows. You see something good but then have to wait months or years until it gets to the market. Its summer, and the CSR ELITE isn't going to be out for some time... so I just plunked down the cash for the Fanatec GT2 wheel, Clubsport pedals and shifter. If, when the elite comes out, it is 'all that' and there is an F1 style (ie shape/size correct) then I'll be picking that one up next year, and the GT2 wheel rotates into the 'for guests' position.

I like the idea of interchangable wheels with quick release... so one can pop on a GT2 wheel when driving Forza, then pop on an F1 wheel when driving F1 2011. One can dream.

Looks like I need to start saving up some money.

That thing looks incredible, but does anyone know if it'll fit on a Playseat like this one?
Playseats.jpg

I have same Playseats, it fits... in some ways.

I have the GT3RS V2 with Clubsport pedals. and normal 6 speed shifter.

1. I had to drill holes for the wheel itself to be mounted, no big deal really.
2. Clubsport pedals are too big so I had to use a metal/aloy plate to make it bigger and mount the peddals, easy fix, you can do it with some plywood.
3. shifter is hard to mount, so had to create a lil wooden box to fit with the shifter extender you see in the picture.

Well if you have the tools, its easy way to fit everything, but its a great setup to have.

Seems new shifter might have better mounting points over old plastic one.
