Why is that guy using the stick to change gears ?

It's a 458. It won't have a sequential stick. It won't even have a regular manual stick.

I hope it was the G25, but it might have been the G27.
Iam really looking foreward to some propper G25 support and from the looks of the menu, you can choose your wheel quite freely. You seem to have 3 slots for wheels and each slot seems to be for several different wheels (or sets of wheels?!), but the video quality is not good enough to see it properly, though the quality is quite good.

No, it's not the G25/G27, it's the usual older driving force wheels, same ones as you will see in the GT5P and GT5 TT wheel options.

The reason for the two seperate highlighed groups is the older wheels only have 270 degree rotation and they have some different options.

I was looking forward to watching that until I noticed it was.. you gussed it.. TOKYO AGAIN!! But I just watched it anyway.

Same annoying tyres sound, huge impact at high speed and no damage at all and a senseless shifting animation.

Thanks for sharing Micxster. Nice video, some good action. I love how he got spinned out by an AI. Finally no more bumper cars, but proper collisions. It's about time.

That 458 cockpit is so good. The paddles animations are really incredible even if most people could argue that the driver moves his arms positions, I think it works really well.

The flappy paddle animation is just stupid. Anybody who has driven a car with one of these knows that you don't have to lift your hand off the wheel 'thats the whole point!'.

Pd have stuffed up there. The sad thing is, that probably took longer to design then just the driver flicking with his fingers like with the f2007 in GT5:P

Paddles shift animation... just sucks :yuck: TOTALLY unreal. I've driven a Modena F1, and there is NO WAY that you have to move all your hand to just touch the paddles. I hope that was the same build we saw months ago... :guilty:

anyone else noticed the "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III" at the upper left corner of the screen, inside the menus ... ?

kinda strange for a GT5 "demo" :P

Nothing new.
Again that senseless shift animation?

holy cow you're right! But I don't think that's a "III"...

I think the 458 italia's paddles aren't actually attached to the steering wheel (therefore they don't rotate when you turn the wheel) so therefore the driver would have to move his hand to flick the paddle if the wheel isn't aligned with the actual paddles and I'm guessing it would've been too difficult for PD to make 2 different animations for that 1 car.

Personally they don't bother me at all.. I don't know why people are fussing.. It's better than no animation.

They are patriot's and love Japan and Tokyo...

They have every right to proud of their country, but any hands on demo made for a gaming convention should raise excitement about your upcoming product...This video was a bit of "been there, done that."

Which reaction do you think they were going for?

damn, it's true. Prologue spec for sure but i can't read the number.

that cockpit view looks really, really good!
Except for the shifting movement, which still looks very hilarious.

The point of having shift paddles, is to be able to keep your hands on the wheel while shifting. PD failed big time on this one... 👎

Nice spot with the Prologue Spec heading.

Why are we fussing? Because the animation is unnatural and unrealistic. You don't have to take your hands off the wheel.

The F458 has fixed paddles on the steering colomn, although the paddles are long so in most regular steering positions you can still just flick them, in tight corners the hands will have to come off (or atleast will have to slip the hands in a new position) to use the paddles.

This is why pd has placed the hands lift as you change gears, this allows any sudden movements of the wheel to not interfer in anyway with the gearshift animation.

Cars like the Mercedes SLS that have the paddles fixed to the wheel itself don't have this problem and the hands animation looks more natural. Go watch the SLS video to see for yourself.

Only for the 458italia. Shift animations for the wrx(at least in the replays) and mercedes sls are pretty good.

it is more like a I or II, definitely not III... which is even weirder...
How about IV ;)? Nah but it doesnt make sense, they won't release a new spec for the prologue...
Sorry about the double post, I'm using the ipod now.

you can use remote control 459 lol..Yes i didnt like shifting animation. Its senseless and stiff. If i am racing it must be hot and emotional:)
