Hear that, guys: GTPlanet is a major influence on features in the game. So, keep those ideas coming for GT6. I mean, we got damage, weather, changing day and night...

We've had a Livery Editor thread for ages, hows that for influence?

Not complaining but with such hugely megagargantunormouranausaurus rex features, you would think copy pasting a few decals would be childs play. Still eager to see the return of R mods though maybe that will quell the desire for a full-on editor.

I cant wait to tear this bad boy up.

Yes, we have the return of Racing Mods which is something we've wanted since they disappeared in GT3. But, Kaz mentioned that their won't be a livery editor for GT5, but it IS something they're looking into, so maybe as a DLC or for GT6.

I remember Kaz saying in an interview that standard cars were easier for them due to just having less work to do to bring them up to GT5 quality or something along those lines so it doesn't surprise me to see this, really.

Excited and... well waiting like everyone else :P

I want to read it

What?

Yeah I'd take some of the claims with a pinch of salt... Polyphony already showed us what the standard cars look like, they could have meant in terms of detail other than visual, in which case it's true. (i.e. damage)
There's some good solid new info in there though.

Yeah the thing is PSM3 magazine wouldn't have had any more access to the game than anyone else at this point, and with that in mind can it be argued that they are stating information that is highly likely rather than fact?

Thanks for all the info, it just made me even more excited about the game! All those little details! The standard cars being more detailed than GT5P cars juste made me excited even more. I thought these cars would be a bit under the quality of GT5P, but now that they are "confirmed" to be of better quality, it's just even better! Give me the game already! :D

Yes, it most certainly can.......and will. This is GTP, afterall......

We've seen what standard cars look like already. So being told they are more detailed than prologue means nothing. They still look poor in comparison IMO.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting engine stalls at all. This news puts GT5 in the rank of PC sims. Incredible, absolutely incredible..

No livery editor :/

"In a 24 hour race, the sky's hue changes slowly fades to black and back without any animations. Stunning"
What does that mean???

The only video of standard cars was very old. From June I think. That proves nothing about how they will look in the final game. We will find out soon anyway......I hope.

DO WANT!

The only thing he could have done better is a livery editor... but considering how easy it would be, maybe he'll patch it in later? The game was supposed to be released next week, after all.

I hope you can do time-based online & offline races, anywhere from 20 minutes to 24-48 :dopey: hours. Maybe even set what cars and mods can be used! When you can make your own endurance races, replayability goes way up.

And the first details on Standard Cars..."More detailed than anything in Prologue". So, think of the cars in GT5P as a crappy version of the Standard cars...and if that's the Standard cars, then the Premiums will be even more awesome. But it sounds like you won't have to worry about a drastic difference when racing standard and premium models together. Sounds like the only way you'll be able to tell the two levels apart is that the Standard models will have blacked out windows.

well, thinking about it, the whole "Standard cars will be more detailed then GT5P's cars" , if you drive the Nissan GTR in GT5P you can tell that the car is way more detailed then for example a Renault Clio V6. Or the Ferrari California, much more detailed then a BMW Z4...

I know it has been confirmed that there wont be Cockpit view for standard cars, but i just cant believe it...

It's an official video, after 5 years I doubt they are suddenly changed in a few months.

I wonder if we will have a "start engine" button/button combination!
That would be wonderful.

I thought of that possibility many times. One way of doing this is to first change the way we reverse the cars. Instead of using triangle, just use the L2 button to put the car in reverse gear. Leaving the triangle button for the ignition.

I'm a little sceptical about the information of the standard cars. I'm certain they'll look great but nothing like GT5 prologue cars.

It means there won't be a single animation that takes the ambient light from bright to dark. The ambient light will fade so slowly that you won't be able to see the change taking place instantly.

Cars
Of the roughly 1000 cars in GT5, about 800 are standard models. Mostly brought over from GTPSP, they're shiny, HD and still more detailed than any vehicle in Prologue. These vehicles only suffer scrapes and scratches, but it's crash consequences that matter. A trip to the gravel trap - or worse, the metal railings - in any car could prove race ending. Think broken gearboxes, brake failures and even engine stalls. All cars regardless of type have fully functioning front reverse lights, horns and get dirty during races.

I can forsee the pundits for the anti-standard car committee lining up with a scientific hypothesis on why the Standard cars will still suck.

Outstanding.

You don't know when that video was made. Like I said, time will tell. Plus there is already another thread to complain about how bad you think standard cars are:sly:

After this I should have stopped reading.
Standard cars are not much more than mostly unchanged models from GT4. Everyone can see this by visiting www.gran-turismo.com .
