Lots of talk about the G25? Have you guys heard about the Fanatec 911 RS wheel? I and several more here are beta testing it and it´s well worth looking out for... https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=102017 I do have the G25 but after testing this wheel it´s sure I can´t keep racing with it. Will be the 911 RS wheel or more high end wheels. Pedals well they are better then the DFPs for sure but well they is the weak link anyway I feel but it is being worked upon.

Don´t want to bring this off topic but just as a heads up Fanatec don´t have the marketing resources like Logitech do ;).
Want to believe it or not, that 911 wheel doesn't have the build quality yet to match the G25. Its biggest upside is the wheel itself while the shifter is basically a plastic toy and the pedals aren't as much better than the ones of the DFP as you're trying to implement - especially the brake pedal is a big let down. The wheel suffers from connection troubles and even electrical problems.

The G25 on the other hand is a very proven design by now with a high quality (build quality instead of looks, that is) wheel, sturdy idiotproof pedals and a shifter that feels flimsy but is actually made out of metal when the technical parts are considered. The most common modification of the 911 wheel is to use, surprise surprise, G25 pedals. Quite a shame that such a modification necessitates blowing about $600 when the G25 can be had for $250.

At the moment there isn't a better bang for the buck wheel than the G25. The situation may change in the future but we're living this day.

The clutch on the G25 is nice but I didn't care if it had a H gate & why is it separate from the wheel?
One big reason is to give RHD people a chance to have the shifter on the correct side. About the mounting problems, how about the same table on which the wheel is bolted on?

OK I didn't think about the RHD thing but as for the mounting, I don't use a table!

That's what I can get away with when you consider the Girlfriend factor!
When I build a standalone home theater I can get away with a better setup.

My DFP is wore out so I will get the DFGT wheel.
I like the adjustments on the wheel, GT5 is supposed to have variable weather & I can sure see the need for adjusting brake bias & traction control there as well as when the fuel level changes & when the tires start wearing out.

That's great if you have a playseat or other dedicated chair but for most people it's just something else you have to figure out how to mount solidly.

Like I said I'll get it because my current wheel is wore out but I'll hope for a higher quality wheel to be introduced with the full GT5 launch.

I find myself in a similar situation; I could buy a G25 but am still using the DFP because it's more practical to bring close to the sofa mounted on a gameframe. It's sad this new wheel doesn't have better pedals though, so I think I'll wait a while to make up my mind.

Also, I agree with most of the negative views on the looks of the new GT wheel but I think it's probably a very good wheel, much better than the DFP if not par with the G25; if it "only" costs $150 it's most likely because of the lack of metal pedals with clutch, H shifter, leader, etc. of the G25, as well as now being marketed to a much wider public with much larger sales expected..

Anyway, we'll have to wait for some credible hands-on reviews

I would agree that the G25 is more of a hassle to set up because of the separate shifter, however, it does allow flexibility in the positioning.

The new wheel seems like an acceptable upgrade to the DFP, but clearly the G25 remains an upgrade to the DFGT wheel. Gives you a choice of $100 - $150 - $250, which seems fair enough.

I love my G25 & even without a functioning H-shifter/clutch it is worth the extra money IMO, especially if you're going to put several hundred hours into racing.

¿Tahiti Maze dude?

Well, as we have seen on the video it pauses the game. I thought those hotkeys could be for changes while driving on straight line on a 24 hours endurance race just because for example you may change the brakes on a weather change. But no... my idea was wrong.. I've seen it pauses the game screen to it's just as accesible as form a Dual Shock 3, a G25 or any other controller or wheel. So... I do not see then any reason to buy this wheel (well, maybe the price... but that's not enough for me if for a bit more I get aluminium gears and brilliant pedals). That's just my point of view after wath the video.

Anyway.. about which cars could accept those configs... keep in mind that 90% of the GRAN TURISMO cars are fully upgradable, so maybe not as they came from stock, but after those kind of changes we all do for races (brakes system, suspension, weight, cpu, etc.) I think they'll be all or 90% able for that kind of racing-config while driving, just because I guess there will be things or systems to buy for the car in order to make your car able to be adjusted like that (as easy as when we bought NOS for later config it on the GRAN TURISMO 4 config menu, you know...).

Obviusly, EU/US Prologue might come with new DFP support already built in.

Thanx to guys at goingsony.com blog for sharing this video with the world, without even knowing the presciousness of it :D

somehow i am beginning to like these extra buttons/dails on this wheel.....:):)....am using an wornout dfp and really waiting for a wheel with more rigid h-shifter cause i find the g25 one too plastic and without any feedback....so if i have to wait for the "tuned-up" version of the g25,this new dfp gt one will maybe do fine untill that time(another year...maybe longer:ouch::ouch:)............btw,totally like the idea of a race with changable weather and than changing your settings during race!!!!nice...!!!:)

Adjust bias mid race? Dynamic weather confirmed!

The new wheel is a good DFP upgrade. But I'm hoping for an official Gran Turismo "G25 quality" wheel with the release of the full version of GT5.

(Additional buttons, 'solid' shifter, force feedback pedals? etc)

Hmm.. having two official wheels sounds like a great idea(IMO). A reasonably priced wheel :) for the masses and a G25-like wheel for the hardcore fans. (GT25 huh huh :) 💡?)

True statement.

As a college student who doesn't even have a PS3 yet, I doubt that if I get a wheel at all it will be a G25 or its successor. If anything, it will be this new wheel. I've got cost to consider as well as space and mounting options, which are obviously limited in my situation.

Yeah , I see what you mean. Having two options is just logical for logitech (lol?). They can use up their old DFP supplies to make the new DFGT, while keeping the hardcore guys happy.

Of course the 911 turbo wheel has some issues... That is why we are beta testing it and it isn´t in production yet :).

But you would be making a misstake not looking it into heavilly if you have the money to afford a G25... Feel and force feedback is more realistic thus better in my eyes :)

911 wheel has it's own thread. let's stay on topic here, okay? and if it's not in production yet ( unlike G25 and DFP ), it's not a competitor yet.. if it ever will be. I won't buy a device that might lead into electrocution in the middle of hectic race.

Exactly what I am waiting for! Hopefully this idea comes to fruitation! :)

Had to smile when I saw that ^^^ video, as that Lotus Elise wheel visible in the game on the screen is exactly the one I've used on my G25-based Lotus cockpit in preparation for GT5 :D

Unless they've used metal for the pedal shaft and locating parts now, I can't see this holding up. At any rate, my DF brake pedal broke, then my DFP brake pedal broke with GT4. In GT5 Prologue demo you really do get more braking effect if you apply massive force to the pedal – as I've found with the awesome and customisable G25 pedals. Here are mine:

If the pedals of the new wheel are metal construction, I may get it to replace the broken DFP pedals on my old cockpit (using PS2 and GT4):

I agree with the idea that this new wheel is built to sell as many as possible to those who can't afford the G25 or don't want to wait for a (possible?) updated G25 version. I think the G25 will offer enough fun for the time being. Roll on release day for GT5 Prologue!

DIY! :)

You just need to dismantle the pedalbox – the individual pedals are modular and you can mount them inverted using the M6 threads in each pedal base. Asking to be modded!

Then you can cut down the G25 pedal covers to match the car of your choice and put them in the right relative positions. If you want to copy the Lotus Elise/Exige accelerator pedal, you need to use some alu profile attached to the pedal base.

This new wheel is 11" in diameter? That's significantly bigger than the Driving Force Pro, right?

Well, according to this video the wheel does look much bigger than DFP, and somewhat stiffer I might add...

Can´t belive they use the same pedals as the old version. I guess the pedals are just as the pedals of Momo racing force and then I played with the momo after playing with the G25 for a couple of mouths everything went bad becuse the pedals are like zero degree tilted and there are no resistance in the brakepedal.

I suppose I'm the only one who likes the way it looks? :P

Anyway... I'm trying to decide whether to get this or a G25. I'm not a super-hardcore racer, and I'm generally not too picky... but still. I'm not terribly unwilling to part with an extra $100 or so to get a G25, but I'm not entirely sure I need it.

The problem is, at this point we do not have any sort of "real" review. We do not know if the wheel has the same "guts" as the DFP or the G25.

There is a night and day difference between the DFP (Tug-of-war) and the G25's precision and realistic feel.

The G25 is made of better materials. In the end, you get what you pay for. If you don't have a wheel and are thinking of getting an entry level wheel and were leaning toward the DFP, then get this new one. Don't get a DFP at this point. I'm expecting this new DFGT to make the DFP extinct. Or, this DFGT may (hopefully) be made in a limited run just for Prologue. I'm hoping PD and Logitech are hard at work developing a proper step up from the 4 year old DFP.

Thanks for informed advice 'dts', you swayed me. I'm thinking the new wheel might be matched to P, as physics are all new code. Can anyone quote a ballpark figure for this one (price)?
