New Penalty Algorithm (1.15)

There has to be a better way to do things. The last 3 or 4 races I've been in, I've lost two or more positions near the end of the race because of people ramming me from behind while I'm cornering. Half the time they have their hazards on so they're playing with auto-drive. It's fu**ing annoying.

I think the penalty system needs to accept that sometimes contact happens, and there is no need to punish either driver. I had one earlier at Dragon Trail into turn 1, we were running 3 wide leaning on each other, there was definitely contact but not because any of us were forcing the issue, all 3 of us made it around the corner in roughly the order we went in. It was just good hard racing but the game gave a 10 second penalty for me and probably similar to the other 2.

It seems like the algorithm detects contact and assumes somebody must be at fault, it stifles the racing.

New penalty system is terrible as it is now applying wrong penalties. Two races in a row I've received 4 second time penalties when battling other cars, despite no contact and not leaving the track. On top of this got another 4 second penalty when someone brake tested me halfway down a straight. As a result of all these penalties I've lost my 'S' safety rating. What a complete joke.

This is just my opinion but I see it mostly being a car control problem then add people that have no clue how to properly race It’s just chaos. They’ve made it feel like to me anyways your racing on an greasy oily surface it’s gotten worse with every update. Now I’m not expecting the car to feel glued to the track but there is no feel in the racing

I dont think its a car control problem really as much as people just too eager to gain/hold a position or get a win at any cost. Out of 10 punts 2 would be genuine mistakes, the remaining are just people who don't give a **** about playing fair. My point is to let's say reach DR A, you need to be reasonably fast, which points to being able to consistently control the car well. Heck even using someone as a brake would need a decent amount of skill to ensure the puntee leaves the track/wipes out etc, without adversely affecting the punter.

Why does my game says somebody got a penalty and after the race he doesn‘t have a red dot despite not slowing down once to serve it? 🤬

My theory is that the server has no say in penalties and it's all done locally on your console. Since there is lag involved (however slight) each console can determine fault differently. I've had it happen as well that it said on my screen that the other person got a penalty and afterwards he had no red dot and claimed we never made contact on his screen.

Today someone rear ended me and it said he got a 10 sec penalty. He slowed down yet barely lost 1 sec on me and managed to catch back on my slipstream. At the end his penalty was gone, since I raced on with the 1 sec penalty I got, he got out ahead. It's impossible to scrub 10 seconds and only lose 1 second on a car already ahead. It's all lies! The consoles don't talk to each other nor the server to determine who was at fault and what penalty should be issued.

When you're reasonably fast it's more rewarding to drive dirty. First you gain positions, second you drop your SR which eases up the competition for you and you regain that SR again. You can simply yoyo back and forth and keep adding to your DR.

That's probably why PD added the time penalties to stop people gaining positions from dirty driving. However the reward for lowering SR is still there, while the penalty system can't assign penalties correctly. Ergo A/S still has lots of dirty drivers.
