New PS3 Slim Owner

Just saying, Hello.

I'm huge Forza fan, but I love all racing games. So when I heard the price of the PS3 finally went down I had to get one. It's now sitting in my closest waiting for the only game I'll probably ever play on it... GT5.

So the people on the forums saying that if Sony wants to sell a buttload of PS3's... Now is the time to do it. Release GT5 and they will sell a crap load of them.

Trust me, I hate PS3's for the lack of games, but for this price I couldn't resist.

I'm getting Forza 3 next month, a Fanatec Porsche Turbo S Clubsport package, and hopefully GT5 this year!

I know it's kind of stupid to be thinking about DLC before a games release date has even been announced, but what do you think GT5 will have it terms of additional DLC?

I know Forza 3 is predicted to get 10 new cars a month for a whole year. 120 DLC cars in all. I was wondering what options for expanding GT5 they could bring to the table. I imagine GT5 will want to have some really long legs since the development time was so high.

Anyway, I'll probably rent Prologue to get my feet wet in GT while I wait for the Forza 3 demo on the 24th.

Please don't give me crap for liking Forza 3. I don't see the point of taking sides when you can join both. :)

I'm also really hoping that all the cars in GT5 will have modeled cockpit views. They are really amazing.

Anyway, I'll be trolling around the forums here for any kind of GT5 information throughout the next couple of months.

Um, pull it out of the closet now and realize how many games there really are. If you just like racing games you still have Formula 1: Championship Edition, Ferrari Challenge, and SuperCar Challenge (soon). And those are just the ones with a simulation angle to the game.

No one is sure. All we know so far is that it is supposed to have over 1,000 cars. We have no clarification as to whether that is disc plus DLC or all on the disc. If it is all on the disc then DLC would really only be needed to give new car models.

Anyway, I'll probably rent Prologue to get my feet wet in GT while I wait for the Forza 3 demo on the 24th.
Or buy it for cheap and then join us in our online races.

We have a Forza 3 section too. Sure the fanboy wars get heated occasionally, but most of us enjoy racing games in general too. And we are also forzaplanet.net.

Hi and welcome. The lack of games is really a misconception. Of course it was lacking games earlier in it's life, but I don't see a lack of games now. PS3 has some great exclusives and some massive ones on the way.

Welcome! Again the lack of games thing kinda shocked me as i feel that way about my 360, all are basically shared multiplats but i havent baought a game for my 360 since GoW2 8P.

You should at least pull it out of the closet for Blu-ray alone, its good stuff... tht is unless you already have a BR player.

Yeah, I've already got a Sony blu-ray player. I had wished PS3's were cheaper when I bought it as I would have got the PS3 instead.

I'm probably looking to sell the standalone blu-ray player now.

No need to keep it in the closet. There are tonnes of games and demos you can play while you wait for gt5.

And you should buy a copy of gt5p. Even though gt5 is around the corner I think its better than even going a month without a gt game.

At last count sony claimed over 1000 games are available for the PS3,so i don`t think there is a shortage of games, the number of must have games is another matter though.

add 300 dollars to the price of the blu-ray player you bought. what would have been cheaper now?

game exclusives are lacking?

go rent MGS4, LBP, and Uncharted. those should hold you over till GT5 comes out

I thought Sony had more first party (exclusive) developers than Microsoft and Nintendo combined. Their strategy was to spend money investing in talented developers rather than buy exclusivity for certain games and content. I would have thought that the PS3 has more exclusives than the 360. The catalogue of games in development looks great.

I'm talking game exclusives are lacking.

Exclusive games are a dying breed imo. I noticed them more during the ps1/saturn/dreamcast/pss2/xbox/n64/gcube days. I think allot of developers and publishers would rather get there games to as many people as possible rather than make one console manufacturer happy. Like the good old days of genesis and snes.

There are allot of great exclusive games (GT!!!) but they usually are that way cause sony/msoft/ntendo has there hands in the developers pockets.

Exclusives are usually the main selling point between consoles but even w out them I still automatically buy anything that will play GT.

My paid $250 for the Blu-ray player, but you couldn't get a PS3 for under $400 when I bought it.

Luckily I caught a deal on Dell and got a new PS3 Slim for $269 with free two-day shipping. Not bad for a system that was once $600.

I havent bought a game for the Xbox 360 since... um... I cant remember. haha

Even if the same game existed on PS3 and 360, I'd take the 360 version just because Xbox Live is worlds better and the controller is better suited in my opinion.

Maybe then, but you should try out psn now. The statement of xbox live being "worlds" better is no longer valid. Infact, psn is now world's better from when the ps3 launched. The advantage between the two is now ever so slim. Aside from that, it's free. 👍

*edit

I just realized you're a new member to the ps3 family now, so, welcome. Anyway, I also want to mention that saying the 360 has more and better exclusive is also no longer valid...for sure. Really though, system has changed much since its release. GT5 is the top reason on why I bought a ps3 in the first place though. Many other things that I benefit from being a ps3 owner are just pluses.
