New seasonal events look pretty difficult.

The Lotus was the hardest for me. I didn't go as far into tuning it but won on the last turn last lap. Still yet to beat the Fiat one. No tune on that car, yet. I won Ford GT TEST CAR premium CARBON FIBER, and citroen gt concept premium. Plus the cool suits and helmets.

What drive settings do you use for the event?

Previously I put wrong description (for Lotus;)

I used CCRacing's serup https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=190685

add spoiler, and set downforce to 20

All Aids off. ABS - 1. Manual Transmission
Enjoy!

Won the lotus race in 2 tries with the setup I had previously. Took me about 40 tries to win the STI race, first attempt after looking here and setting brakes to 10/8 as suggested. The Fiat race has me so upset I'm about to  puke. about 100 attempts and still over 5 seconds out of first. Best lap ever ~2.04.999. WTF!? I'm not a bad driver but these crappy FF cars always give me headache. Every single time I go through the last left turn before the chicane I run into the back of some pos gremlin. I'm about to sell every Fiat I have (two out of 250 cars) and never look back.

Won the viper gts-r team oreca #61 for the lotus race, haven't cashed in the lvl23 card yet.

I Just finished the Fiat one.

Lap 1 1'08xxx
Lap 2 1'03xxx
Lap 3 1'03xxx
Lap 4 1'06xxx (crashed hard)
Lap 5 Won

I maxed the fiat out for this one. Max lightening with ballast, stage 2 engine build, full intake, headers, cat, chip, suspension, clutch, flywheel, LSD, ect.

Set the LSD to 10/30/5

My power band was 65hp for like 9/10s of the rpm range.

That's probably unnecessary though. Also, use auto transmission for this one, it helps a lot.

thanks man this info got me a win!
(used MT no lsd and no weight reduction or ballast but the powerband worked like a charm), i think i also used close ratio 5speed

Here's my gold videos of the expert challenges. (Apologies or video quality, had to record from my laptop.)

Tuning and Setups:

FC Suspension, ride -25 F/R, rate 6.4/7.3 F/R, dampers all 4, ARB 3/3
Camber 0.5/1.0 F/R
Brakes 4/5 F/R

Subaru (thanks to m-Simm for these settings)
Stage 3 w/r, window w/r, carbon bonnet, rigidity, aero 20, ballast 14 to make 1250kg,
sports ECU, power limited to 83.5% (says 395bhp)
Racing a/f, cat converter, full racing exhaust,
mid rpm turbo, FC tranny, max speed 137
twin clutch, racing flywheel, LSD default, Carbon p/s, Torque spitter 35/65
FC suspension, -15 F/R, rate 8.5/9/0 F/R, Damp ext 8/6 F/R, Damp comp 6/7, ARB 4/4, Camber 0.0/1.0 F/R, Toe 0.20/0.25
Brakes 2/8 F/R

These races were great fun and a real challenge, took me flippin hours! It was just a case of minimising loss of speed and staying fast but smooth through the corners. Also, careful yet aggressive throttle to burst out of the hairpins made me up a lot of time.

Don't know why my last post isn't showing up yet. I just tried bearcat's setup, got 2.09.35 on the first lap, didn't even bother doing a second lap. guess I'll try another one.

For the people I helped out with the Lotus tune, you're welcome...glad I was able to come up with something that works across the board for many people.

Anyway, about to try this Fiat one again after reviewing some videos...hopefully my new Fiat with no aerodynamics will get the job done.

Still not sure why my posts aren't showing up. Just got gold in the fiat race after like 10 hours total tuning and practicing. I took alot of the setup from peoples posts but my suspension/brakes are quite different. Didn't upgrade the flywheel cuz I heard something about that hurting speeds uphill. Thanks to everyone submitting setups, I'll do the same and I hope my posts start showing up.

Driving aids: ABS-1 all others off
Tires: Comfort medium all
Upgrades:
Window weight reduction
sports air filter
low rpm turbo kit 1
fully cust trans
twin clutch
LSD
Fully cust suspension
Settings:
LSD 10/30/5
Ride height -25/-25
springs 6/5.3
extension 4/4
compression 3/4
anti roll bar 5/5
camber 0.7/0.2
toe 0.12/0.03
brakes 6/8
engine limiter - whatever gets 65hp

aero front kit
rear wing set to 20

Finally beat that dang Fiat tonight. A joy passing that dang lead A2 about 200 feet from finish. Whew!

Now off to shop for the prize cars along with 2 1000 tickets.

How many have beaten the 3 challenges with a pad? I guess it's a lot easier with a weel, Vettel Challenge v2.

A vote thread would actually be very cool to see a statistic. :)

Has anyone Done these with auto transmission? I've got 3rd on the fiat and 2nd on the lotus. I know everyone's going to say I should use manual but i've tried a million times to change and my small brain cannot cope!! I don't want grief about not using manual, if I could do it I would! So is it possible with auto or if I should give up!?

Well, practice, practice, practice...u have to do 5 almost perfect laps. The gears should be short, especially with the Subaru challenge. As i am not an englishman i try to explain how to prevent understeer with the subaru: Supensionsettings on the right side, the bottom settings i've chosen were -0.10 front and +0.2 rear, the upper one +1.5 front and +2.2 rear, like this u can accelerate earlier in a corner, cause the tires reach the ground easier with these settings. Also breakbalance: at least 6 front and 5 rear, try out 7 front, it brakes hardcore (with all cars) and if entering a corner (the car itself is very stabil) the car turn its nose better in the corners providing higher cornerspeeds. I did them events all in about the 3rd try. Me name is captn_pommeroy if u want to get some driving school ;-)

@paulturismo: Did you use controller?

One look at his signature:

GT4 Game Completion 100%
A-Spec points 32406
B-Spec skill 6734 (he's actually ****e)
Day 1442, Golds 80
GT3 Game Completion 97%
Controller: Logitech DFP

Oh lol, it's a wheel. Who had thought that.

Another challenge to push the wheel sale ...

Each time I gold an event nothing happens? the screen showing the result goes away and then I get GT in the bottom right hand side of the screen, and the only way to continue is to turn the game off Grrrrrr, the only thing it will let me do is the two time trials, on Rome i was 50th last I looked but that's besides the point, the point is I am unable to do anything else in the seasonals.

lol, totally forgot about that ancient signature. Yes, I use a Driving force pro :)

I use Auto and have no problem.

I did. I heard it actually made things easier in the first one (Fiat), but I wasn't going to try teaching myself to drive manual in an 'expert' race. It's hard enough as it is. Don't think I could have done the suberu without a wheel though.

Did you both use a wheel? I'm using controller. On the lotus one I can get within 2 seconds off 1st, but the fiat race I'm an absolute mile off can't remember the numbers its all a horrible blur, I'd say about 10 seconds and I can't see where I can pick up 2 seconds lap!

I use a DFGT. I cut the track on the Fiat race and ran consistent 2:02's (I think? It's been a few days)
I can't stand going that slow, it's literally mind numbing for me. So I made damn sure that I only had to do it once.

I'm enjoying trying to crack the lotus one but the fiat race is just painful! Think I'll give up on it and focus on the lotus one, no point doing something over and over that you don't enjoy! Plus I don't need a lv21 ticket and couldn't care less about suits and helmets!

One weird thing with the Fiat set up.. glitch? After my first try I realized I was going to have to do everything right. While tuning I was looking at the effects my changes made on the HP rpm range. With the sports filter peak HP was 65 at 2200rpm!!! (or 2100 real close) I changed to standard and it went to 5100rpm. So I tried it keeping the car right as close to 5100 and got laps around 2:04ish (I know...). Tried it with peak hp at 2200rpm and shifted at 6000 redline... 2:04ish... So not sure if this is just a glitch but did nothing different.

I used DFGT too, but they all took me a long time. The fiat one is all about using brakes only when necessary and, more importantly, using every bit of track. Do you use the driving line? It won't be perfect, but might help. Also, the best I could get was second until I put the aero kits on the 500. Might be coincidence (I had learnt the track pretty well by then), but worth a go.

I do have driving line on but as the stupid AI all follow it in a line randomly breaking it's not always easy to stick to! I think this 1 might be beyond my skill level, i've only managed 41 golds on licences so I'm far from being any good! I'll try a few more setups tonight. I think maybe "expert" events is a step to far for me!

I think it's really funny how everyone complained about how easy GT5 has been. Now they put some challenge in it with the new seasonals and already people start to complain about it. I had a fun time with the new seasonals. The first two I did in 2 tries. Just a little bit of setting the gears and suspension right and it was nice. The subaru was a bit of a challenge. The key is to drive really well and consistent.

Everybody is working with set-ups, while all you have to do is improve your driving. Keep as much momentum in the corners, keep your revs up and break early. The Sport tire require more delicate driving instead of the racing tyres. Because many people only use racing tyres, this is an adjustment in technique. The cars weight transfer has a longer effect on the tires and therefore it takes more time for the car to "grip" the surface and be able to turn.

I use a normal DS3 controller. It took me 5 tries to beat the subaru seasonal. I hope PD will post more of these challenges!

Where are the tuning restrictions?
I don´t see any.

Do a Weight stage 1 and add the missing weight with ballast.

Add Power and restrict then with power limiter.

Where´s the problem?

Edit:
btw , restrictions are welcome ;)

raVer

thats where im missing it, take away weight and put it where you need it and add power and limit it....im assuming it will get a flat power band for lower rpm pulls?

I ALWAYS use automatic, but i had to change to manual for the Fiat race. I was running 2:07s with auto and not even getting close. I switched to manual and could occasionally run 2:04s and was getting much closer to the leader. After 3+ hours I finally beat it and had a fast lap of 2:02.8. I think the automatic bogs down occasionally and costs time on a car with so little horsepower.
P.S. Remember to cut across the grass on the last turn leading to the start-finish straight.
P.P.S. Has anyone beaten the race with out cutting the final turn? If so, congratulations.
