New Track Limits in place in FIA events

Going wide allows you to go faster through the corner, so no, it shouldn’t be allowed.

I didn't say it should be allowed. I just gave you another option, high curbs that make you lose time by unsettling the car if going wide. This is being used in real life too. If damage is taken into account it could break your suspension too. This would make it too risky. Also if there's a tight situation going on you could slow down to avoid collision and go past high curbs without damaging the car instead of hitting a WALL.

Another thought, why not just remove the tarmac run off areas and add sand traps all the way? I personally prefer this in a game because we don't need to worry about debris and actual safety like in real life. Best tracks are always those where the track really ends after the curb IMO. Walls are so unnecessary.

I like it, but would be better if the last part of Mercedes Arena was one invisible wall (with the blocks), instead of crashing into the individual tyre blocks.

Yeah, that is what this game needs, more instant death chicanes.

**** sake, it isn't that hard to add simple zones to the tracks.
Green Zone : Main racing area
Yellow Zone : Slight cuts - either give small time penalties or maybe a 3 strike system
Red Zone : Major cuts - 10 Second penalty

Obviously that wont protect you from getting punted, but at least your car wont be damaged and you wont spend 10 seconds trying to get your car pointed back in the correct direction.

And for turn 2 and 4, just make it slippy out wide. Once the grip is gone then people will change their lines.

Or just put big metal spikes at head height like they do at all race tracks.

I understand that some people like a strict track limit system, but there’s no need to want to see what the “cheaters” will do now that they won’t be able to exploit that. They’ll still be fast as ****. Faster than most that is. They’re fast because of their will to improve and find the limit in every subject (inputs, strategies, lines, reaction time...), not only track limits.

This is a complete ********.... omg yeah let's just put a concrete barrier to every run off area so when people fight for a position they kill each other... this is such a stupid move I wouldn't believe it if someone told me they did this...

Effects this will make:

1. Less great side-by-side racing and battling
2. More carnage in the races

How PD could fix this:

1. Remove this crap
2. Set correct track limits and punish people for cutting the track.

Just did a quick test with audi, managed to do a decent time also. Position wise they are ok. I didn't have to change my normal driving lines at all so it's all the same for me when driving alone. I just see all kind of problems in racing situations.

Why would you be flying?

What is so hard to understand? If you go over speed bump at 100mph you'll go flying. Hitting it at 40mph is manageable

Yep as long as you can make it past this on lap 1...

Everything should be fine 👍

Just gotta relearn to race in the narrower track limits. The higher the skill level, should be an easy feat now.

From a time trial perspective I did a few laps this morning and actually prefer it. Especially the last chicane.

From a race perspective though it may cause problems, but with such wide track limits originally you had some going really out wide and others not then trying to all funnel back in, that in itself used to cause problems.

Is it only for practice laps or race as well?

Will be surprised if these are left in situ during the race... can completely understand during practice / qualy but for sure will cause problems during the race

People complaining it will lead to less battling, I've never seen someone pull off a move around the outside of T2 on Nurburgring GP unless they had an enormous pace advantage. You know the tyres are there now, so drive accordingly.

Yes this one and the other on the outside of the other turn are not a problem, it's the ones on the inside, like the turn in between these and the ones at the chicane, if someone hits one of those in the race you are going to get some carnage. It's not like these ones were needed either as if you cut there you got a penalty anyway, it was just a little space to go if someone tried to run you off the road. These will also be a bigger problem the lower down the driver classes you go.

Can be just racing side-by-side after start and people can easily wreck others now into the barrier.

Better than nothing but why is this necessary rather than tightening the area where you can go without getting a penalty? Penalties are more realistic and less intrusive in racing situations.

Probably cause editing track limits should be a really hard thing to do. They havent changed it since release.

This was a way easier thing to do. I agree its not perfect, but better that then having track limits being exploited.

I think the new barriers are fine, if they are in place only in FIA races. Putting up obvious, temporary barriers for certain races is something that might happen in real life.

Tightening track limits via penalties would be better, but only if the limits were present for every type of race (daily, FIA, offline, etc).

Adding curbs, gravel, or slippy areas would be a bad idea, as that modifies the track further from its real-life counterpart.
