NFL lore

It's like this; it was the Wild Card playoffs in January 8, 2000 between the Bills and the Titans. The game itself went back and forth until the Bills took a late lead in the 4th quarter. Then the play happened that gave this legend its name. The Bills kicked the ball off after scoring that field goal to make the score 16-15 in their favor with only 0:16 left on the clock. The Titans player, Lorenzo Neal got the ball and started to run it before handing it to Frank Wycheck, who then lateraled the ball to Kevin Dyson nearby. Then Dyson took it all the way to the end zone and scored the goal. But before the game ended however, a booth review was called to see if the lateral was a forward pass or if it was legal. After a few seconds, the referee announced that the call on the field had stood. Therefore, the Titans won. That's why this legend was called the "Music City Miracle"! Amazing huh?

It's not exactly a "miracle" though, is it?

Yes, way back in the prehistoric year of 2000, a messenger arrived on horseback to inform my village that Lord Wycheck had completed an illegal forward pass that wasn't called by the game tenders, and the Titans of the Kingdom Tennessee had won the game. It was the greatest thing that ever happened in the world, and I only wish that we had some sort of glowing picture box with which we could have seen this act of God.

You were lucky, Kylehnat, we had to communicate with stone piles and wait for occasional burning shrubbery for real information.

Is any of you REALLY sure that the play could have been an illegal forward pass? After all, it looked to me like Wycheck had thrown the ball perpendicular to himself, and not forward! But don't get mad; I'm just saying that it looked like a perpendicular lateral and not a forward pass, that's all.:indiff: But if you want clear proof, take a look at this video. It'll show the direction of the ball with 1:13 left in the video clip.http://www.fandome.com/watch/73767/Music_City_Miracle/ Personally, after THAT event I am now a fan of the Titans because of the fact that they were able to pull off something like that! After all, the Panthers only big "accomplishment" was playing in Super Bowl XXXVIII, the Steelers only big event was winning Super Bowl XL, and the Giants had won this year's Super Bowl.
