I'm happy for the Wild, they've got an awesome fanbase, and it's nice to see them rewarded and finally catch a break.

Is there any team other than Boston or star player that doesn't play for Boston that you don't hate?

Pavel Datsyuk, Wayne Simmonds, Claude Giroux, Jamie Benn, Heres few.

Yeah they have the longest current sell out streak if I'm not mistaken. Second Vancouver then Toronto and Montreal after that. I'm fairly sure that was the stat. But yes they certainly deserve it.

I thought I read somewhere that Minnesota, and every Canadian team save Ottawa sold out every game since the lockout. I seem to recall a few empty seats for some Canadiens games this year, although I bet the tickets were technically sold.

Yeah that is true I think that stat included pre lockout.

I really hope this Luongo deal happens now. Gillis predicted today that the signings would create a domino effect with all the teams who were interested but didn't get them. They all have to reevaluate now and then go after plan B and he thinks that means lot of trades here.

Just thought I'd post since it was getting a little too Canadian in here.

Canada: The only place on Earth where in the middle of the summer, without any professional hockey being played, and hockey is still on the front cover on major newspapers. :)

And people are more interested in Suter/Parise than pretty much anything else

I think the Red Wings are in huge trouble here. I'm going to assume Carle was their second choice and he is off the board so now what? They are all getting to be seniors there in hockey town and they just lost Lidstrom and Stuart.

They can get Semin lol. They need to trade someone like, Franzen, Zetterberg or Datsyuk. They need to do that.

I think the Wings are going to seriously regress this year. I can't see them being able to replace Lidstrom and Stuart's minutes easily. They needed one of Carle or Suter.

EDIT: They lost Hudler too. Yikes.

Semin would be an upgrade over Hudler, but the glaring holes in the lineup are top 4 D.

Looks like Luongo won't be playing for Vancouver, very soon. I'd say hes going to Florida. As much as I want him in Toronto, thats not happening. I think the only place WORSE than Vancouver, for Luongo, would be Toronto.... He's not too good with the Media and fans pressure.... He belongs in Florida, were one will notice you losing a game on a soft goal when Lebron and Wade are chucking up ally -ops on the highlight reel the same night.

Luongo said on Vancouver radio today that it's time for him to move on from Vancouver and that he has enjoyed his time here. Could be anytime now a trade is announced because clearly he was told something if he is saying that.

I really want to see Nash in Detroit. Will Weber leave Nashville? Maybe he gets traded to Detroit as well?

What could Detroit offer the Blue Jackets. I mean what are the Blue Jackets looking for? Defense? I'm pretty sure Nashville will do everything they can to keep Webber. Probably Nashville's number one priority.

Ian White or Kyle Quincey or Jonathan Ericsonn 1 or 2 first rounders.

[Edit]: Lidström didnt leave Detroit his a scout now.

Canucks are taking a very serious run at Doan. He has all sorts of connections here and loves the city. He owns a WHL team here and his wife is from here. God would I ever like to get him in a Canucks sweater next year.

Apparently, Doan is giving the Coyotes until Monday to try and sign him back. He is just stalling as long as he can to see if the ownership / arena can be worked out. It is obvious he really wants to stay there.

The CBJ defense is pretty much set for the next few years. Two pairs will most likely carryover from last season, and then there are 4 guys fighting for 5, 6, and 7. Plus, most of the prospect depth is on D.

The only way I'd trade Nash to Detroit is if, as part of the package, they agree to drop their fight to get into the Eastern Conference and support a realignment with the Jackets in the East.

Maybe Nash gets traded at next years trade deadline but at the deadline the Jackets stands at 6th in the West and Nash stays. Who knows?

Well it's looking to me like we'll have a lockout :(

The owners announced their first proposal on the new CBA, and it's ludicrous.

- Entry level contracts increased to 5 years
- Player's share of hockey-related revenue decreased from 57% to 46%
- Contracts limited to 5 years
- Salary arbitration eliminated
- UFA age increased to 10 seasons in NHL (currently 7).

Based on revenues, the rollback to 46% would basically mean a 56M cap. Good luck getting Donald Fehr to agree to a salary rollback for the NHLPA. This offer is a real slap in the face, and doesn't bode well for a full season this year. I know you don't open with your best offer, but this is like going for a hail mary pass on the first play. Revenue is up 50% since the lockout, and player salaries have only increased 15%, I can't see this ending with a salary rollback for the players.

Entry-level contract to 5? Isnt that the rookie contract? Max contract lenght will be 5. Sounds good. But it looks like a lockout. Cant wait to see who comes to Finland :P Looks like Tim Thomas knew this was coming and desided not to play this season.

I don't like the principle of limited contracts. The owners are the ones who give out the stupid deals.
