Have you not seen the Atlantic division? Weber ending up in Philly would make the Atlantic that much more stacked. The Preds do have the money why does everyone think they don't? They did just match the contract didn't they? Suter leaving helped as well.

Alex Semin just signed a one-year contract worth $7 million with the Carolina Hurricanes. I did not expect him to sign with Carolina.

I didnt either. Semin-Staal-Staal? Or 1st line Semin-Staal and second Skinner-Staal. And dont forgey they have Cam Ward.

1st line: Ruutu-E.Staal-Skinner
2nd line Jokinen-J.Staal-Semin

Seven million for one year is way too much for Semin, he seems to be inconsistent. Sigining for one year was a smart choice for Carolina.

The prejudice against Russian players is absurd. GM's were foaming at the mouth to get Rick Nash at 7.8M for SIX more years, but Semin gets one year.

Good article here. The ol' boys club and the bigotry needs to change.

I don't think Semin's worth 7M per year long term (nor is Nash worth 7.8M), but on a 1 year deal, there's really no risk with Semin.

That was a very interesting article. Canes have a very strong top-6 now. In defence they have, Gleason, Pitkänen, who else? Canes need 1 solid d-man to be taken seriously, but if Cam Ward plays like he plays they have a very good shot. I think Cam Ward is in the top-3 of the best goalies in the NHL, behind Rinne and Lundqvist. I know Quick played amazingly last year but thats just one good year.

It is very interesting to see what happens to the Preds and Wings. Preds lost Suter. Very big piece of their puzzle and i believe Sergei or Andrei Kostitsyn. Wings lost Hudler, Stuart and Lidas. Who they have to replace those guys. Ian White, Kyle Quincey. Their team is getting very old. Datsyuk 33 i believe Zetterberg at the same age, Holmström is 35-36, Bertuzzi 34-36. They have few prospects coming up just cant remember the names.

The Preds lost Andrei Kostitsyn, although they could still sign him. Radulov is gone too. But yeah, the Canes have an interesting top 6, and Ward's a stud, but their top 4 D seems a lil weak. It'll be interesting to watch.

I think they should play more offensively because they know they have strong offence and weak defence and they still have Ward back there. Ruthford himself said that Semin will play with Eric. Who does the Canes have for bottom-6?

Laviolette got a 2-year extension. He is a very good coach but if he cant win a cup for the Flyers in those years i think his Flyers years are over.

As the new season gets closer and closer, I still can't think of a cup favorite at this point... :dunce:

Classic
As the new season gets closer and closer, I still can't think of a cup favorite at this point... :dunce:

Philly, Bruins, LA, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Washington, NYR, there is many teams for the Cup. You may think what is Dallas doing there? They added, Derek Roy great center, Jagr and Whitney for some experience and that will be seen in the Play-offs.

Dallas:
Jagr-Roy-Erikson
Whitney-Benn-Morrow
Not bad top-6.

What about the Canucks?

They're still arguably the best or 2nd best overall team in the league right now.

Looking at the NHL's 30-in-30 article on the Red Wings is interesting, it looks as though that what they say is correct. We won't be outright contenders this year but the important thing is to fasten up a top 4 finish. I still think the Wings are a top 4 team in the WC, they just have to prove it. Guys like TooToo and co will have to stand up and take notice.

Taylor Hall 7-years and 42 mill. That may be a bust or very good idea if Hall becomes 50-goal scorer/100-point scorer.

Scott Hartnell 6-year 28.5 mill. Just regular deal for Scotty.

Mike Fisher 2-year 8.4mill deal. A bit over payment for Fisher his not worth 4.2mill maybe 3.5.

Max Pacioretty 6-years 27mill. Good deal for the Habs and Max.

Still no decision for Shane Doan.

Yea Doan to Detroit if Phoenix cant get it to work. If Rask fails we are not probably even making the play-offs, Smith to Boston! What will happen to the Bruins when Chara retires? Trade for Tyler Myers?

When Chara retires I think Boston will be a tad scared. Obviously us losing Lidstrom is a similiar situation albeit on a grander scale overall. I am pretty scared about our D this year but just gotta hope we can keep on going!

...or for a lockout :sly:

The Bruins do have Dougie Hamilton in their system, he is a really solid prospect and projects as a top 4 D-man. I doubt he'll fill the void Chara will leave, but that's pretty hard to do (IMO Chara is the best shutdown D in the NHL). By the time Chara's ready to retire, Hamilton should be able to step in.

Yea, i think Ham ia ready for 2013-2014 season. I want Tyler Myers to Boston, just make Chara his trainer and we should be fine. :D

[Edit]: Doan gives Phoenix 3-weeks. *Rumor* Buffalo have offered Doan 4-years and 30mill deal. 7.5mill per year?! THATS CRAZY!

Damn. Red Wings won't compete with that. Not because they can't, our Salary Cap is looking fantastic right now, but because Holland won't be brought into a bidding war.

Jordan Eberle signs with the Oilers for six more years. (6-years 36mill, 6mill cap hit)

Kyle Turris signs with the Sens for five more years. (5-years 17.5mill, 3.5mill cap hit)

Still no new contract, NHL players are getting 57% of the money and Bettman offered like 45%, offer 53%. Bettman is a real douche! He makes like 8mill and wants more. <.<
