Night Majik Productions Presents: Night Majik Elite Part 2

Well guys, after some long debate with some tuners from in my area, I've decided to go with a KA24DE engine, which we all know is a step up from my current KA24E engine.

Before the flaming begins, let's just weigh this out a little.

1. The SR20 is a very powerful very potent engine. But, I don't have the 3000 grand to drop on an engine right now. Sure it's guaranteed power but I'm not going for CRAZY numbers I just want enough power to break traction and hold it there.

2. The KA24DE costs about 2500 less than the SR20, with that money I can buy a really nice turbo and I don't have to worry about AC compression, powersteering, wiring harnesses, or the gajillion other modifications that are REQUIRED to be purchased along with the SR20DET engine.

3. I'm not racing this car, so once again, I don't need 70000 hp going to the rear wheels. I only need about 400 hp, at the very most, to break traction and maybe have some fun on the highway. This ISN'T going to be a circuit car, NOR is it going to be a drag car.

As far as I can see, and as far as my car buddies can see, this is the MOST affordable engine swap available and from what we've gotten in research there is nothing wrong with it.

I stand by my decision, if it's not liked, oh well, it's not your car. You may say, oh yeah, well my SR20 can out run your KA24, so be it, you are referring to engine output in a competition where the power doesn't determine the winner, it's the skill of the driver and the balance of the car.

Thank you have a nice day.

*RADIO VOICE* You may now begin flaming.

3,000, lololololol. If you think that's how much an SR20 costs, then your looking in the wrong places. You can find, very easily, a red top S13 SR20DET - full front clip, for around $1,500 to $2,200, with under 30K miles on the engine. This is extremely common, and is not hard to find at all. However, there is nothing wrong with the KA24DE..... It has a lot of potential, if you know how to tune it. I had a KA24DE in my S13 coupe, and it was pushin' over 250hp with only a few bolt ons, so, with an added turbo, you can easily push upwards of 400hp. Just make sure you get a KA with Low miles (which can be quite hard to find), where as, SR20's are a dime a dozen (with low miles).......... It's up to you.....

;)

I tell you what, you find me an sr20det, full assembly, with NO extra purchases required for 1500 and I'll totally forget about the KA24DE. I haven't found it yet, and I consider myself pretty internet savvy and patient. The KA24DE is 500 bucks off of ebay plus shipping, and if my friend has a 1991 240sx that means he HAS the KA24DE and it will be mine for 250 bucks. But hey, prove me wrong as you have done so many times in the past SD.

P.S. We need to meet up and have a drift battle, SD vs. SD, just for fun you know. Publicity is a mug.

SAY WHAT.

Here are some good finds.....

However, If you can get a KA24DE for $250 (with low miles) by all means, get it. That will leave you plenty of money for a turbo, FMIC, bigger injectors, etc......... I'm probably goin' to mess with my KA (as sonn as I get it), for a little while, before I drop in an SR20DET, so I can respect that. However, the SR20DET is definitely goin' in there eventually........

Well, as soon as I get rid of my Jetta, I will have an s13, but we live on opposite sides of the country.......

I would love a friendly battle, but I don't see how it will be possible, unless you feel like comin' to Washington..................

Hey, its your car...

Just remember, that extra money you're going to spend trying to make that KA24DE be almost like the SR20 is going to be just as, if not more, expensive than a SR20... Think about it, say you wanna put a turbo kit on it, well son, hope you have enough money for a new exhaust manif, fmic (or smic), piping, bov, waste gate, turbo itself, etc.

With a stock SR20DET with SMIC (which is what I have atm), you can break traction easily, I was doing it in a church parking lot earlier today, testing my limits a stock motor can take me.

Well, some of those are full front clips, with everything, including wiring harness, etc......... What exactly are you thinking that you need extra?

Personally, I am going with an SR20DET, because it's a great engine, and already turboed stock, so that cuts down on the overall cost.............

This is where my motor came from. I didnt do this package, but I would have, had I had money for the rest of the stuff needed to complete it.

Great Link, but can you give me the home link, because there doesn't seam to be a link to it, on that page.................... I'm interested in seeing more of this site....

http://www.srswap.com/

This site is pretty old school when it comes to getting SR20's. and they have some pretty good prices when it comes to aftermarket parts (but then again some of them are a lil high).

phase2motortrend is another great site. They carry SR20 parts and have some very competitive prices. This is where I ordered my Apex'i N1 exhaust, HKS Turbo timer, and Apex'i cold air intake from. Back when I had my S14 I also ordered many a part from this site.
