Haven't tried fitting a wing & downforce yet but I think I could manage a 127.5xx with 1-2 more sessions so aliens should be in the high 125's in no time.
Thanks for tune just ran 27'5´´ Nice tune , i usually hate 4wd!!

I've always had a bit of a *sigh* response to the Indianapolis Road Course but it does force you to learn to manage your throttle and you really have to be aggressive on the apexes to pull a decent time. With only some power adjustments to the stock car I was able to pull a 1'33.055. Definitely left some time on that tricky slow combination of corners in the middle of the lap. I want to gold this without tuning the suspension, LSD and any weight reduction as less than 1/10th of a second is tantalizingly short of the goal with a near stock NISMO GT-R!

DS3 novice narrowly ahead of @nowcontrol and @SW__10 with a 1:28.950, currently 52nd!

Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts. :P

LSD settings seem key here. Also my delight in extremely exaggerated lines seems to pay off big time through the long sequence at the start. I've gone 0.3s faster through there a few times but mess up later in the lap.

A lot of lines seem to work through the hairpins.

Something I noticed is the car loves turning in off-power. Instead of trail braking, ease right off the brake and let the steering scrub off the last 10-20kph as you reach the apex. Then just nudge the throttle a little before getting on it hard.

The car also seems to enjoy using kerbs. The big yellow chevrons are valid but extremely slippery, like yellow ice. (Stop giggling.)

Driving Options
Active Steering: Off
Traction Control: 3 (sorry, can't drive with it lower)
ASM: Off
ABS: 1
Steering Sensitivity: 5

Setup based on @Teitzy tune with some adjustments for taste and my old skool 'tranny trick' gearbox, GT2 style.

Stats
600pp
598bhp (long flat line, slight dip in last 500rpm)

75.9kgfm torque

Suspension
Ride: 100 | 60
Spring: 13.65 | 15.48
Comp: 4 | 8
Ext: 4 | 8
Rollbars: 1 | 7
Camber: 0 | 0
Toe: -0.05 | 0.00
Brakes: 5 | 8

Power (always do this before gears)
Oil Change
Limiter: 86.7%
Engine Tuning: no
Exhaust: no (maybe worth it for more torque but less power?)
Isometric Exhaust Manifold
Catalytic Converter: Sports
Intake Tuning
Turbo: Normal (might be worth Stage 1 for 565BHP but 94.5kgfm @ 76.8%!)

Transmission
Final: 4.870
Speed: 220km/h (don't change this again)
1: 2.775 (full left)
2: 2.025 (full left)
3: 1.625 (1/4 from left)
4: 1.375 (slightly right)
5: 1.175 (nearly full right)
6: 1.000 (full right)
Final: 3.125 (315km/h end of straight)

1st gear is useful in hairpins. Change up around 115km/h if you have throttle control...or short shift to 2nd after the inside kerb stops and feather it randomly like me.

Drivetrain
This might not be ideal. I'm using round numbers to get things roughly in a place that works for me.

Initial: 5 | 5
Accel: 10 | 25
Brake: 5 | 10
Triple-Plate Clutch Kit
Carbon Propeller Shaft
Torque Distributing Centre Differential
Front:Rear: 25:75

Body
Custom Wing
Downforce: 120 | 220 (cannot change front, max rear)
No ballast.
Stage 3 weight reduction
Carbon Bonnet (ricer look)
Window Weight Reduction

Results
It was an easy gold with nearly stock settings. Min weight and a few custom parts, drive very (VERY) patiently to every apex and avoid sliding.

Indy Road... did 1'000's of laps there for the 2010 Academy :)

30 mins with the DS3... 1'28.378.

Have a nice feeling tune (all weight reduction, no ballast, max front/min rear ride, very soft front, very stiff rear, no toe/camber, 40:60 torque, 5,10,5 5,20,5 diff)... will try it with the wheel before posting fully.

I don't know what's up with you guys. Why on earth do you need to use someone elses "tune"? Surely you are missing the point of the game by relying on someone else to get your car right? I had no clue when I started a couple of years ago, but by reading and experimenting, my cars now seem to go ok. Stop relying on someone else and do it for yourself, much better and satisfying. This TT is a blast, lots of fun, but I wish we could have a little bit of a tyre upgrade...cheers, have fun

TRUTH.... And I have just got myself into 16th by messing around with some of those digits on the tune sheet until it felt fast and planted... my current lap time is 1:28.072  :D LOTS OF FUN!!

Thanks again for the tunes guys, couldn't have done it without you (well, it wasn't likely at least). Both these tunes put in a roughly equivalent time, although they drive differently. Surprisingly the brakes on both feel very similar although they're very different too.

This tune is from my garage. 1st try in my hands. 1.32.185 and I left time on the tarmac so to speak. Hope this helps someone.

This one got me a 1:31.99 on my best lap. It's very stable and perhaps a tad quicker on the straights (although that might just be my imagination). Very nice, predictable car and likely the tune I'll use if I step this bad boy up in power someday.

This tune got me a 1:31.13 on my best lap. It's easy to misplace a second or two on this track, so take it with a grain of salt, but this one got me a tad better time. Almost a second quicker for me, but it's a little more of a handful. Not in a bad way, it keeps it nimble, you just have to stay on top of it a bit more. (I also had to turn that Accel LSD down to 12/20. At 12/50 the back end wanted to swing out too much coming out of turns for my taste).

Both great tunes. Pick either depending on your preferred driving style and this seasonal becomes much easier. Thanks

Thanks for the comparative review. Its good to see the differences between the two tunes. Not much difference in terms of time between the two tunes really.

I don't NEED someone elses tune, I like to tune most of my cars myself when I can, but I don't have time to spend hours messing with all 400 of my cars. If I run across something like this GTR that I just can't figure out after a reasonable amount of time spent trying, I look up a tune and try it. I almost always still tweak it to where I want it, the tune is just a starting point.

I commend you for taking on each car from scratch, and don't disagree with what you said, but you should let people enjoy playing the game in their own way

Yawn........stop lecturing.

Sharing tunes is what these threads are all about bruv....chill

This is better than i first thought. When i saw the GT-R, i was disappointed. Don't like AWD cars and specially dislike AWD GT-R's. But this one is pretty nice. I still miss some live in the car (if you know what i mean). I had a good start, on P5 with a mid 27, but there is only way for me now and that is down

This is the tune I made to drop my time to 1:32.694. To me, this car feels very good with sport soft. This is one of those cars that I might use at the nurburgring. This was tuned with a wheel and no driving aids except abs.

I don't like using the power limiter so just did stage 1 weight reduction and all the "free" lightweight parts, brake upgrade, triple plate clutch etc. Softened the suspension a little (though not sure this is great advice from PD) and put the max speed up two ticks.

Got a 1:32.9something without too much effort, but I'm not crazy about this car, a case of "if it ain't broke" I think, Nismo!

Maybe you should try some tunes and learn how to get better grip.

Just say thanks to those that helped you have more fun, or not, if that doesn't come easy.

Happy to see this car in a TT as I can now see what it feels like with some world class tunes fixed in. I imagine they're all track specific at this point but I'd like to find one amongst the ones listed above that is also just plain fast on a broader selection of tracks as well. Thanks to all who are posting tunes for this one as I shall be trying them all!..

Cheers!..

I got 1:32.3 with about 30 mins of lapping with just weight reduction 1 and mid range turbo and race suspension (settings untouched)

dont know if it was the track but I was fighting understeer badly. I was 5 tenths behind my ghost and made it all up toward the end so that tells me I can run a 1:31 with just those tweaks and no real tune

down to 133.089 the back side of the course is where im losing time. Got to get this heavy beast to turn quicker.

Some easy ways to make a car turn quicker...

1. Raise front ride height relative to rear
2. Reduce LSD decel (front should always be 5 on any 4WD car, rear should be low - preferably 5)
3. Remove +ve rear toe

Does anyone have glue how PD desides that gold time? I did couple of laps stock and it seems like I was just over 2s. from gold just after couple of laps. Shaving off that 2s. seemd alien like task, so I started to wonder, are they actually testing how fast is possible to go on stock car(if you are one of the top players in the world) and just set up the time by that? Really seems like it on this one... Have any of you got gold on stock??

I ran 30 mins with the stock car last night and was c.0.5 off gold with the DS3... I think if I put more time in I could do a 1'32.9xx and it would be straight forward for a DS3 expert (someone like @matej2547), and definitely possible with the wheel.

I managed 1.32.837 with only an oil change to otherwise stock car after about an hour of trying. I can maybe shave a couple of tenths still with a perfectly clean lap (had some alien sectors on otherwise not-so-good laps), so I think my limit is somewhere in mid 1.32.5 - low 1.32.6 region. The car is too understeery for my taste, because I like to be able to manipulate the rear end with the throttle, instead of having to use the handbrake to get the car to rotate enough in the slow corners. For that reason I might just settle with my current time and not push for that absolutely perfect lap. I am certainly not the greatest driver ever, so I'm pretty sure some alien might be able to get gold without even an oil change.

I did 1:32.935 after 8-10 laps with the DS3. Stock car, no oil change.

There's not much room for mistakes, that's for sure :P

I'm 28.2, still left some time in the middle Part of the track, but, this car is heavy to drive and very difficult, specially on braking. If you miss the apex or hard shift to 1st gear you'll just slide!!

I wish they've put RH or RS tyres!!
