Yeah, Rene (south african with the gtt) told me you almost have to yank any information out of him. Keith McGregor is apparently pretty open in terms of discussing the car but he doesn't go too far. I've talked to Arnie Nguyen (not sure if you know him - 10.X second S6 Rx7 sponsored by Kiwi-RE and also Heat Treatments mechanic) and got a bit of juicy behind the scenes information about the GTR :D

This is Andrew (formerly known as Cobraboy :D) too forgot to mention that Vince. We had the owner of Turbo Vehicles Limited in last week wanting some grinding work done on a 13B eccentric shaft. He was with Keith and Keith had an RB26 wiring diagram for a Motec M800 in his hand :scared: All these high profile drag racing personalities left right and centre - it's amazing!

Oh yeah, Rene got 182rwkw which equals to about 218flywheelkW because of his Tiptronic transmission. He went to Beyond2Performance.

Yep I know Arnie very well, sometimes too well. He's ok though a bit of an arrogant bugger at time but still good value.

Owner of Turbo Vehicles, is Mike Healey. Which again I've spoken to a lot over the years and again always at the track. If he's there with a tall woman that is whom I refer to as "dragon lady". She's got a sharp tongue and not someone whom I enjoy talking too no matter what. she's really hard case.

Can't wait to see Reece's car running this year. I know a little bit of what is in store but also said I wouldn't discuss it.

I know, as I said on the NZPC forum 2005 is the season for 7's.

Apparently they had all 3 drag cars out the back yesterday - Reeces GTR, Kevins Camaro and his other car. 'Always gotta have a backup car mate!' as he said :D.

They don't seem to know when the GTR is going to be back out again - I just hope I'm there when it is!

I went out the back of work today to have a nosey around and came across the garage with their drag cars in it. In there was the GTR (in bits) the Camaro and a Torana (also in bits).

Looking at the condition the GTR was in, I don't see it running at the V8 Nationals in early January but it's possible it'll be at the 4 and Rotary nats in late Jan. Pretty cool walking into a garage with three 8 second drag cars though :D

Found Reece on Wednesday and introduced myself and also said Hi from Vince with the Silver GTR!

Got a ride home in the GTT on Wednesday - it was raining and he lit the tyres up at nearly every set of lights on the way home. Then left a set of skidmarks about 10m long up my road with a very very smokey burnout 👍

Hahaha good on ya !! He's an awesome bloke aye. I've got all the time in the world for Reece.

Well I figured i'll post here too then since I own a nissan and it has the heart of a skyline :)

It is a 1988 Nissan Cefiro import(imported by myself)
Originally it ran a gutless RB20DET/5speed combo which I bolted up:
Hi flo RB20 turbo
custom manifold
35mm external gate
fmic
550cc injectors
powerfc

This combo made an ok 306rwhp but eventually injectors failed(they werent serviced as i had been told by prior owner) so that engine went bang, dropped in another RB20det moved my bits over and within a week that went bang(on the dyno hehe). Took the step dropped in an RB26DETT from an R33 GT-R with following mods:
600cc injectors
aftermarket cams, we believe they step 2 nismo items but unable to find part #
Custom turbos, equivilant to Hi flo 2540s
custom twin 3" exhaust
Custom sump(8L instead of 4L)
twin Filters
Wolf3dV4 Ecu running MAP and rotational Idle
VL Turbo gearbox
OS Geiken twin plate Clutch
Custom 1 peice tailshaft
R200 diff with 4.3:1 ratio
5 stud conversion all round with R32 gts-t brakes
Volk TE37 rims in 17x8 and 17x9
Profec B s2 EBC
Nismo fuel reg
HKS Adjustable cam gears.

prob other minor stuff done that i forget. Last dyno run with traction was 442rwhp with 1600ft/lbs of torque, this was achieved on 0.99bar boost. We leaned out the tune and it began to spin wheels on the dyno. For Freeway racing i run 1.19bar :D

Car also had a 5 page feature article in High Performance Import magazine here in Australia(issue 49). I've since moved to Brisbane though from Perth.

i just was surfing the net and saw a tommykaira r33 for 39900$ in florida...link coming....

HAHA! I FOUND THE BEST SKYLINE! :) just kidding

but its not a GTR, why import a GTS even a tommykaira when you can import a GTR for just as much? Theres a street legal tommykaira R33 GTR somewhere (in FL I think) the only one in the us, now that one I'd take :)

:drool: I passed out when I saw it. I think I just applied for a loan...does it count if you put up your soul for collateral?

$13,000 and for some extra money, they can professionally convert it to Left Hand Drive!
There's another Skyline here, too:

Hell yeah I reckon! He asked how I knew you and I mentiond that we've known each other for a while through the internet and that we had planned to get together and take some good pics of your 'R. He said he used to be a forum regular a few years ago but he's not a fan of them anymore, too many know it alls.

I can't wait for him to get running again. I'm not getting my hopes up but someone from our Machine Shop does some sundry labour for their drag team and the date is set for the end of January and we know whats happening at the end of Jan! :D

Heloooooooooo there peeps, just a quick question, does anyone have any info about the RH9 club, apparently its like only for tuned gtr's that can run sub 10 second quarters on street tires. apart from that i dont know anythink else. can anyone help? also do they have a website? i saw a few videos of the rh9 lot doing 0-300km/h runs on ex vi termini, was awesome.

Just a question...

I think my friend is full of himself.

Is it possible for a R34 body to fit over a R33 chasis. I found some info that said the R33 chassis is smaller than the R34 body by a few mm. So wouldn't that mean that the R34 Body would be a bit big for the R33 chassis?

I doubt that the body panels would fit straight up, but with some work you can probably get them to fit.

On another note, one of the guys had an R34 GTR owned by Jonah Lomu (NZ rugby player) in at work on Thursday. Full carbon fibre undertray made it look the business 👍 the 600hp engine under the bonnet did too :D

No they dont have a website that I know of, RH9 stands for Record Holding 9, an exclusive group of tuning shops that have built 9-second street cars. Very hard to get into, very exclusive.

Hey, I want to join the Skyline fan club. Right now my brother went off to Los Angeles for a few months and he left me in charge of taking care of his R33 series II gts25t. When he was here we were always working on the car. Here are some low quality pics I took with my phone. We havent done too much too it. Exhaust, suspension, BOV, pod filter, turbo timer and boost controller. We spent $2500 on lightweight 17 inch Buddy Club rims which have 235 at the front and 255 at the rear. As for the decals...I'm not too crazy about them but we managed to get 3 of them custom made. I do however like the RS*R SUMO concept on the mirrors like on the RS*R Supra....it's different... Anyway, we'll be looking out for a carbon fibre bonnet and intercooler in the next few months.

EDIT: We're thinking of selling the R33 in the future and getting either an 99 R34 GT-T or a 92 R32 GTR. R32 GTR will be faster but it's getting old now along with an outdated interior. The R34 GT-T still performs and is a newer model with a fresh up to date interior. I just cant say no to the R34 rear lights...

i bought my first car yesterday: a Gun-Metal Gray R33 GTS25t :D !!!!

it's a Series 1 and mechanically it's completely stock. first thing im doing when i actually get the car (paid for it, wont get it til the end of the week) is to change the ugly series1 front grill and put the GTR style one in WITHOUT the GTR badge.

Cant afford to do much to it performance wise due to lack of money now :embarrassed:

any cheapo upgrade suggestions are welcome!

(I CANT F#$*%N WAIT DAMMIT)

Yeah remove the crappy stock 2 stage boost controller, it holds you boost at 5psi intill 4500rpm then gos to 7psi, remove it and your boost will always go to 9-10psi. Helps alot with bottom end.

Also reset your ECU.

how do i do that? :D

I'm pretty sure you use a hand held computer type device that you plug in under the dash. Well, that's how you do it when re-programming trucks...

Get some pics on here when you can. And good luck with it, you lucky 🤬...

To reset the ECU just pull off the battery lead (which on R33 Skylines in the boot/trunk) and press the brake pedal for a few seconds to make sure all power is discharged. Then reconnect the battery lead and let it idle for a minute and then drive it normally for a few km's. Dont forget to always run premium unleaded fuel preferably 98 RON.

As for the stock 2 stage boost controller, it sits on your left strut tower righ next to you power steering reservoir, it has two wires (joined together) and two hoses, one going in and one out you just join these hoses together or replace it with a new hose. The hose goe's from your wastegate actuator to you intake.

i've never fiddled with cars b4 (as i never had a nice car which i'd want to fiddle with), so is it safe for a newbie to do this? i wont screw anything up will i?

What does reseting the ECU do? i sort of know what it is, but i'm not sure what benefits i will get from reseting the ECU.
Also, should i reset it after removing the boost controller?

Just make sure you join the hose properly so they dont leak, if they leak then your car will overboost. After doing this you will notice the difference straight away (thats if you drive it before you do this mod), but when you do it make sure when you are under full boost that the factory boost gauge doesnt quite reach or pass the 7+ mark. If it passes the 7+ mark then youve got a leak. If your really unsure of this then leave it intill youve become more familar with the car.

The ECU on Skyline constantly adjusts timing of your engine (from input of the knock sensor), after time it screws up abit (from different fuels etc) and its good to reset it, your car usually runs better and you gain some power after a reset. Sometimes my Skyline with start detonating (pinging/knocking) at full throttle after time with different fuels and a ECU reset makes a huge difference.
