Nitrous is back ?!

Nitro is back in GT6

This thread reminds me of a GT4 Nitrous thread that appeared when the [nitrous] news was released.

So much fuss but everything turned out alright.

I am not opposed to this it's up to the individual as to how where and when this is used. Once again GT covers lots of facets of the motoring world.

Is anybody else just want to be tearing up a set of tires and then punch it around a corner and hit the nitrous already going sideways?
xD

Yes I have never, ever dragged anywhere and never will. I'll just keep doing this

In that case don't knock something you're too stuck up to try. Argument ended.

Back to the thread topic, sorry. One drawback I could see is in GT4 it was a little unrealistic how many cars could go well over 200mph with nitrous. I do hope they've remedied that, it was a little too unrealistic.

Why is everyone concerned with what types of racing nitrous is used. It's a driving simulator. If you dont like it, don't use it.

Why are you talking about nitromethane in a thread about nitrous? :sly:
Lol you know what i mean!

Maybe PD were trying to copy Fast and Furious

Indeed, but that's what race options are for. :)
If they are there. In GT5 there was no provision for keeping out individual tuning parts, it was either no tuning at all or wide open. Without an on/off toggle this will ruin online circuit racing on open lobbies for anyone really interested in realism IMO.

When I was younger playing GT4, I was so confused with the nitrous. I recall saying something along the lines of 'why isn't there fire coming out of the exhaust?'. I guess I was caught up with Need for Speed and Fast and Furious. Times have really changed. I welcome nitrous in all racing simulators. Drag racing will be awesome.

I can also scream "Too soon, Junior" into the mic whenever someone loses. :P

I never played GT4 so it'll be interesting to finally feel how nitrous is like (NFS games don't count). I'm OK with it as long as it's portrayed realistically. In long races it probably won't make much difference since it will only last a short while. And if everybody has them it'll add a nice strategic aspect to the races. Do you use it at the start to overtake everyone or save it for the final straight to the finish? And putting it on the Formula GT will allow us to simulate KERS lol.

Yes it would be horrible if there was no option, GT6 online should be a good evolution from GT5 so I have have confidence the option will be there as this paticular part is very important (similar to tyre restrictions for example).

Haha, the same time I was saying "thank god there is no fire coming out the exhaust!"

I liked in GT4 you had the option for how much Nitrous you would use, like how much 'shot' you went for in the tuning menu. So if you wanted more power it ran out quicker, dial it down and it lasted longer. In drags I used a huge shot but it only lasted a short amount of time.

I feel a smaller shot that you could use more often to pull you out of tight corners quicker onto straights each lap (within reason) would work better than a big shot just used in the final straight or at the start. Will be interesting.

I never played GT4 so this is something new which I'm excited about. Time for some fast and furious. Even better now that they have included the Charger in the game.

Engine swap would be cool though in my opinion. :D
NA Tuning should be more realistic.
The cars should have real life tuning parts and real life tuning performance. That means: Cars should have more hp fully tuned. That's how it is in real so why nog in "the real driving simulator"?

well its definitely not as dramatic as need for speed underground...

i remembered getting GT4 and being disappointed at the lack of blue flames spewing out of the exhaust when i hit the NOS... but i was 11 or something... so you can forgive me hahah

Good luck trying to win a race with a room full of nitrous users . This is more of a "if you can't beat um, join um".

More like 9sec.
So true but are talking quarter time or how long the engine will last under the pressure, but to be serious for a second alot of cars had their engine potential limited stock because of the agreement between the major Japanese car companies as result many cars had what appeared to be overly engineered specs for a car with only 300 horsepower ( I think the number was something around 275 but let's just round up).

But the Supra KIV had 300hp stock. I wonder if PD will let us get up to 1,000 HP in GT6.

Yeah but like I said I don't really remember the number all that well but I do remember it being around 300ish, also I don't really recall if they applied it to international models as well (just a side note). Not to go off topic but I just wish auto-makers would start increase the room in the engine bay a little more newer cars are really annoying to work on sometimes. One can only hope that with Nitrous we can see a return/access to stage 4 or even 5 turbos, for me the best thing would be to allow further customization of boost systems such as single, twin turbo or hybrid charging. Just think a massive hi-rev turbo combine with a twin-screw supercharger, oh it would be amazing to see the power figures. Although the additional weight, space and well keeping the damn thing cooled might be an issue.

The number was 278 bhp, I think.
But I think you're totally right. I think the tuning in GT should be like the tuning in real life. There are 800bhp civics (with original vtec engine), in GT5 you can't make more than 400 bhp. It would be cool if cars could just have a littel more power fully tuned. A twin turbo would also be cool indeed. A twin turbo has less turbolag than a big single turbo. That can be an advantage with some tracks.

EDIT: I looked it up, it is 276 bhp

There goes the Online fun :(

I think pd has added no nitrous to restrictions for races online probably, for those who don't want people to use it. But in my opinion I think it's going to be fun. Especially with drag racing and high speed tracks like stage x.

It makes about 280HP from what I'm reading (Before break in).

Well i looked it up ever further..
