I have just updated to the current patch, and deleted my save data to start over. Now I can't accelerate. I have tried three different controllers and the same result. I can steer and look behind me, but that's about it, no brake and no acceleration.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Heath

See if your controller layout has changed, if it hasn't, change it yourself to L2/R2 as brake/ accelerate..

Have you tried going into the controller options and changing the settings there?

Edit: Tree'd to oblivion.

That worked, although the X is still listed as an option for acc., but it isn't working, on three different working controllers. Wierd. Thanks again.

What are the chances of all three of his controllers being broken?

I thought about that and dismissed it as its strange for three controllers to go.

Also if the x didnt work he wouldnt be in the race as you need the x to select.

I think that when the wheel is attached gas and brake still work on the controller, the only thing you can't do is steer.

One thought: Is it possible your controllers weren't registering as #1? If you changed the settings for the second controller and something stops them from automatically becoming #1 that could screw it up. Sounds stupid but sometimes strange things happen.

It's this. Hold down the PS button and assign the controller to #1.

Would that be it? Sounds like he can use the controller just not the x button during the race.

Which is the exact symptom of not having the controller assigned as #1.

Ok no problem I didnt know you could still use the controller 2 in the menus.

Hey All,

1) I do not have a wheel or any device beyond Dual Shock 2 controllers

2) It is always in Controller "1", and each time I try another I switch it to controller "1". All of these controllers work perfectly fine as I rotate them and use them in numerous other games. I have also already played through GT5 twice and have not had a problem until this newest update (granted I haven't played the game in 6 months so it was a big update).

I went into hardware settings last night and changed the R2 button to accelerate along with X and it worked fine. I tried to play tonight and it didn't work again. Checked I was set up as Controller "1", went back to settings to confirm R2 was listed as Accelerate, and then tried again. I can only think it's the newest update that is the problem.

Any more ideas?
