I enjoy gaming in 3D quite a bit, but the glasses are a pain. But now the guys from Dimenco are coming with a decent no-glasses solution.

Apparently they have tackled some typical technical issues with no-glasses 3D TVs, like the limited viewing angle and have now initiated a Kick-starter project to able to mass produce and get the cost price down.

I'm certainly looking forward for this one.

Good luck, there is a reason why they have a narrow viewing angle.

And if they can solve it why haven't the big LCD companies that spend millions in research found a way to do it?

Also a 4K panel that is 3D without the need for glasses will be bloody bloody bloody expensive.

More expensive than that LG laser 100" TV or that LG OLED that is curved.

150 degree angle is more than enough for me and €900,- is not too expensive. That of course is the Kickstarter price, I have no idea what the retail price is going to be.

Dimenco actually has its roots in a big company, Philips Electronics, which did spend a lot of money in research.

They don't develop them because no one wants them in it's current state (limited viewing angle etc). The 3D fad in general has passed and spending more R&D money on this is just a waste.

I have no problem donning a pair of glasses to watch a 3D Blu-ray. Especially if it was made in 3D rather than a conversion from 2D filming. I simply don't understand why "But I need glasses" is a valid objection to good 3D video.

OK, fine, you invite 43 people over, that's not gonna work, but what else?

The 3d fad has not passed. In fact GT6 just added 3d to their game. Almost every major film that comes out is currently in 3d. Some might not want 3d and that's fine, but 3d is FAR from over. I am expecting/hoping the new consoles will have 3d compatibility by the end of the year. Any blue ray movie that has the option of 3d is what I purchase. Once you have a proper setup, its hard to go back to regular blue ray movies IMO. 3d is not so much about objects popping out of the screen, its more about depth perception. 3d adds an insane amount of immersion and depth perception to every movie and every game. In fact the lack of 3d in the X1 and PS4 is exactly why I don't have a new console. My 360 and PS3 both play 3d. I will wait until the next gen has 3d.

I don't mind the glasses. The glasses are no longer blue and red any more. The lens is clear so it doesn't bother me at all.

Except if you actually wear glasses like me, then they are a pain. ;)
That's understandable. Most people I know that wear glasses usually wear contacts. Especially when watching 3d.

As quick as technology advances, it wont be long before it will be affordable for us to watch 3d on our tvs without using glasses.
