Was the 63 the 4WD Lotus? Nice shot of Hill driving it without the rear wing.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4WD cars made too much grip and traction, so a rear wing wasn't always necessary. And the drivers wanted ever-reduced amounts of power going to the front, which lead them just becoming unnecessarily heavy. Part of the reason Cosworth abandoned their works effort.

Fast-foward a dozen years to the ground-effect cars which didn't need front wings; they were merely an obstruction to the under-car suction.
 
As much as I love the World Championship winning Brabhams, I'll have to add my vote for Dan Gurney's Eagle as the best looking car of the 60's. It's automotive porn :drool:
On the other side of the coin, with recent mentions of 4wd F1 cars, the Cosworth F1 would easily win the title of the ugliest F1 to ever see the light of day
