i still believe the wankel or ROTARY engine is still the #1 marvel in engines.. simply because it doesnt retract like ALL other non-rotary engines..

About twin sparkers,

The Honda city, 1.5 litre also has it and it HAS EFI. 5 litres of petrol for 100km. FAr far better than the dodge.

You're comparing an EFI 4 banger with a carbureted bent 8?

Not a very fair comparison. I think it's pretty obvious that the two engines are trying to achieve two very different objectives.

No no I mean the Honda engine is technologically more advanced than the Dodge's. Just that.

For me it (honda engine) does a lot more things better than the Dodge's. It may lose on power, but it is well up to date in terms of tech and is efficient.

Well, big muscle engines arent supposed to be really high tech and very fuel effeciant. Its like saying that the Shuttle should be ditched because it only gets 1 inch to the gallon ...

Honda should build the next space shuttle ;)

Wait a second...how the hell can a skyline not meet emissions specs but the space shuttle who polutes more in 1 launch than a skyline would in a billion years doesn't have to meet any reqirements? BAH! Sick the environmentalists on em.

You are also missing the major part of that. Keep your fancy technology and see how hard or expensive it is to fix it when it is busted. At least with an old school American engine, it was all mechanical and a breeze to fix. Never had to deal with ECUs, Fuel Injectors, Eletronic controlled steering and acceleration. At least with the more primitive Carb. engines, they took a real licking and kept on ticking :D

Yeah, with a lower tech engine, all you need is a wrench, a screwdriver, and maybe a hammer and you can fix practically anything. With a car that is full of computer stuff you need digital readers, special equipment (not to mention very expensive), and in some cases a technical degree to know about half the stuff your working on...

Thats where your're wrong. A muscle engine can be improved with technology but the shuttle can't. I can find you a more efficient engine but can you find me a better shuttle?

What do you mean that the shuttle cant be improved. Today's calculators have more power than the computer on the shuttle.

And your wrong about improving the muscle engine with ecu's and stuff. You just adding more things that could go wrong, and another thing to fix and to worry about...

if, IF what you say is true(calculators are more powerful than the shuttle's computer) then is NASA is doing crap all this while? If you say the Apollo space craft then I'll believe you, but the shuttle? Don't know about it though.

Okay, you may have a different opinion but lets put it this way.
You would rather have a muscle car whose engine is low tech so you could tinker with it and not worry about anything electronic.
Its like using ledgers to do accounting while you have a computer to use.

Now, don't tell me the computer's going to crash or hard disk error.

:D Yeah but all the money I save on gas I can AFFORD to fix it

It may have been a breeze to fix back then but todays engines are more complex and not as easily repairable. Also the reason they were easy to fix is because everyone had expirience with fixing them because they always break ;) my neighbor is always hovering over his engine trying to fix something.....I think he spends more time fixing then driving....
