It is 5 days for free, including the recurring subscription fee that in this case is prolonged by 5 days.
If the player is taking any use of this or not depends on the player.

The whole reason why GT7 is not accessible OFFLINE is to prevent any sort of cheating hacks, a requirement of the FIA support and endorsement for the online races.

Cheat protection yes but more like nobody can mess with his offline savegame and add millions in credits and prevent people spending cash on MTX.

Very likely this is only communicated towards developers who show an interest in having their game be a candidate for the FIA Esport slot.
Players dont need to now the technical stuff behind as they cant change it anyway.

I am okay with this. At least they're doing something, rather than just sweeping it under the rug. I'd rather some free PS+ than some free download of an old PS1 game no one cares about anyway.

Sony offering five days of free subscription for less than 24 hours of down time, and PD are doing the Saturday race over again (albeit on a Wed this time). Thus, at least both organizations are trying.

Shrimp happens, onward we go.

I agree I think it’s been a very positive response from both companies.

Of course they won’t explain the outage, but the response is positive and adequate.

It was part of the FIA regulations that were around when GT Sport was released.
GT7 should no longer have that as the game is not using any FIA regulations (at least it doesn't communicate so).

Everything has its upsides and downsides. For me personally the upsides (no cheating/hacking) outweigh the negatives. But I understand those that see it differently.
