Notchy Force Feedback with Fanatec 911 Turbo S Wheel?

I also have the Fanatec PWTS CS edition and I just love the way it feels in the GT5 TT demo.

I am using 10 FF in the game, with 900 sensitivity (off in wheel), 100% FF, 100% Shock, NO Drift and ABS 50% and the car does not shake side to side while driving in the straight unless I let go of the wheel but that is the same with my G25. But I like the Fanatec over the G25 in the demo it has better FF, no dead zone and turns more fluidly, this wheel just feels perfect.

Interesting topic. Currently i don't own a steering wheel but i want to buy one for GT5. After reading this i think i'll hold off till GT5 is out and then see which one works best with the game.

That's understandable. I've got to admit that my impression of the Fanatec wheel set (with the standard pedals) was a considerable disappointment. However, having used it for the better part of a week now, I have sort of changed my mind. As it's said above, the fluidity of the wheel is quite fantastic, it's so easy to feel the load on the front tires (the b-3 event in gt5p - Evo IX on Eiger is GREAT fun :)), the pedals, once you get used to them, are good and of top of it all it's very quiet.

So overall I'd definitely recommend it, but I'll need to save up to get the Clubsport pedals :D

My old Fanatec Turbo (non S model) did the same thing with Prolouge and it was BAD. It would jerk side to side very violently. I never noticed it with Shift though.

my current wheel, the G27, also does this with GT5p and the GT5 TT Demo. It does not do this with Shift, Dirt 2 or SCC. In Shift there is a very strange feeling though on the G27. In Shift with the G27 I can constantly feel the wheel lightly oscillating and it feels terrible.

I also am very surprised the force feedback is still the way it is in this Demo. There is still no detail in the FFB at all. It's almost like there is a ton of centering force and that's it. Anybody that has played SCC or FC with a wheel knows how detailed FFB can feel. I am not saying I want the Physics to be the same as SCC, but if the FFB was more detailed like SCC, that would be great. I really had high hopes for this demo and for GT5, but I am really feeling kind of disappointed.

I have a Turbo S wheel and likewise notice the same issue but I have found that if you gently turn against the FF for a couple of seconds it then disappears for me, not disappear but becomes no longer a problem

If I could move on to a enquiry of my own, All you Turbo S owners out there playing the GT5 demo (I have not tried it with GT5P yet) I have not been able to use the clutch thus far, I know you need to press the triangle button at some point but I suspect one of two reasons for my being unsuccessful thus far;

a) I am pressing the triangle button at the wrong time (too early or to late) when do you guys who manage to utilise the clutch in GT press the triangle button in your start up routine?

b) I have remapped several of the buttons to give me a set up as close to that as I use in FM3 as possible (want to be concentrating as much as possible on my driving not where the button for X, Y or Z is!) As such I have the Triangle button in the PS3 mode/GT layout to be rear view as this is corresponds physically where it is in Xbox 360 mode. Could this be why I am unsucessful?
I don't know what the Triangle button was in the default GT button layout but it took me half an hour to make the changes I made and test drive them (as it were) and don't want to bin all my other changes to find out!!

Fanatec recomended ingame setting 2 for prologue so i would start there for confing the new demo. If the FFB is not right in the full game, i have buy back g25 and send turbo s back. As the problem is also with g27, it seems PD has to deal with issue sooner or later as g27 will fully replace g25 on the stores by full game is released.

You will not be able to use the clutch in the GT5 TT demo, how ever in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue you will be able to use the clutch only on the cars that use a clutch in real life. For example the Suzuki Cappuccino '95 and the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A '02 has it.

To use the clutch in GT5P (if the car has it) all you have to do is press the Triangle button at the start of every race after you gain control of the car and the big "START" letters disappear from the screen.

I had a nagging suspicion that the steering on my Fanatec GT3 RS wasn't working correctly, but with it being a brand new and rather pricey wheel I chose not to ponder the issue. Instead I chose to get frustrated with the insane FF amount and the very touchy steering of GT5D.

First off I tried changing the steering lock on the wheel from 540 to OFF, which made the steering a bit smoother if not anywhere in the vicinity of let's say GTR Evolution on the PC.
Then I tried lowering the in game FF to 2 and eventually disabling the wheel vibration, which also made for a smoother ride but with some lack of FF information.
Although this helped reducing the over sensitive steering it didn't solve the problem.

As a last resort I dusted off my old Logitech Driving Force Pro and hooked it up. And what a difference it made.
Gone was the twitchy steering. 900 degrees on the Logitech is way more than 900 degrees on the Fanatec. After just 6 laps with the Logitech I had shaved .2s off of my previous record time. It was so much smoother which let me drive faster through the corners without oversteering.

My guess is that the OFF steering lock setting on the wheel is closer to 720 degrees than actual 900. Which differs a lot from when it's connected to the PC. Again indicating a software issue.

By the way, I've only driven the non-tuned 370Z.

I read that NoxNoctis Umbra had the in game FF setting at 10 and the wheel at 100.
How do you even manage to turn the wheel without ripping apart whatever it is attached to?

I turned FF to 0 in game, and FF to 33 on the wheel with my Turbo S. The jerk is still there at the center.
I managed a 1:58 in the no grip car but was almost spun out a few times from the jerk.
The demo is unplayable with the Turbo S.

My Turbo S is working fine with GTR2 and GTR Evo as well as Forza3.

Check that it's set to simulation in the wheel options screen. I had issues with steering when it was set to the default setting.

I have FF set to 5 in-game and the G25 is exactly the same as in GT5p, only with more road dynamics coming through the force feedback system. It's not iRacing but it's a definite improvement. So either it's setup wrong on your end or they just haven't gotten around to supporting it properly.

Let's be clear about one thing, wobbling in the middle is not road dynamics. It happens in prologue in some speeds, not in some zones.

With the current weather it could be... but no, I have a G25, so as I said it doesn't actually wobble in the middle.
