Notice of Account Ban measures

Nope, nothing banned so far. I created a new account especially for hybrids, I'm not stupid enough to risk contaminating any of my main accounts with them. I've also not used any hybrids in any online lobby only permanently borrowed them from other people and driven them offline, driving them online would also have been almost equally as dumb.

So I'm guessing at this point any account banning will likely be for using them online in seasonals or possibly lobbies, but who knows eh?

Haha, I actually lost all my game save because I didnt create a backup. :grumpy:

Can I just say 'Hah'! to all of you who decided it would be a good idea to tamper with the cars in GT5 - thinking PD weren't watching you.

I said it from the outset that this would happen; and my 'tip' that punishment was coming soon, paid off, didn't it? ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Enjoy your just-deserts. :sly:

I'll send you a postcard from online.

If it happends it happends. The last few months of GT5 were the best for me because it wasnt the old repetitive thing that we all are used to by now. Its actually quite sad that theyre threatening to ban the few people that still play this game lol.. Atleast I had fun.

Not yet, but I don't really care anymore because GT5 is nothing without hybrids anymore. GT5 was just a disc lying around in my room until hybriding made me pick it up again. It was so boring that it got to the point i also quit GTP but this news just brought me back to it.

I mean i use it only for fun and i go to rooms specifically for hybrids like hybrid show off rooms and all that. If PD does ban us i don't really care they will lose a huge portion of their players who just play the game because of Hybrids. It makes me sad to think that i will lose my GTR soon even if i don't delete it (they will probably patch it) good bye old friend :( .

Do what ever you want with these spawns of Satan, just don’t bring them online.

I get a lot of cars gifted to me. Before I bring GT5 back online tonight I am going to delete all of my gifts (just in case). I am, however, going to take photos of the tuning sheet from each car so I can reproduce them if they were legitimate.

So many great cars getting deleted because of a few punk hackers.

And I did say punks – all of you.

“oh my realistic reproduction hybrid…”

NO your freaking hacked game save freak mobiles.

Oh how I welcome the big banhammer.

Chrunch them all!!!!!

You must have a very dull car history. If Chevy, Ford, Or Dodge had the views you(and apparently PD) do most of the Automotive would be dead. One of the most iconic Car's in the Automotive Culture was originally little more than a Hybrid of a British Sports car and an Amercan Brute of a V8 or rather A SHELBY COBRA. These Spawns of Satan are no more than some gear head wanting to replicate a car they would like to build IRL but may not have the funds to do so. Literally, Some of the coolest real and virtual cars are fundamentally HACKS. In all truth had Carroll Shelby simply said "Eh, the Car maker knows best" He wouldn't have made the Cobra that prompted every automotive Corporation, most notably Chevy and Ferrari, to rethink how the made their sports cars. Had the Cobra NOT been built we would have the very highly sought after 67' Corvette Stinray 427 that can easily match the going price of Shelby's little hack. Hybridding is merely a reflection of gearheads being gearheads.

I'm just going to ask you 2 things, first have you ever tried or used a hybrid, second if you ever had tried one are you able to create your own?
If not clearly you're missing on life. Hybrids revive(d) the game, after this PD will lose more players many many players.

Not yet. Or yes but people are ashamed of telling everyone.
Or yes, but no one who happens to be on GTPlanet forum at all.

Anyway BLJK Ice  Missing on life? Seriously?
For pity's sake, please. I hardly think you can say someone's life is incomplete without a hacked item in a video game. :dopey: Is this really worth a flame war based on something so ridiculous? (Plus the bait was pointed - didn't sound like someone who was looking to be converted. :boggled:)

I'd say the real question here is 'Will they ban the PS3 ID or just the PSN ID?'
Reading around the net I'm thinking they may go for the PS3 - and then you're 🤬

Based on experience with other games it usually goes this way: PSN bans for the offence, then if the use persists i.e. if a person creates new PSN i.d.'s and carries on offending, then an entire console ban is the result.

Banning a console from the off is a risky strategy, there may be multiple users of a PS3 with separate accounts some of who may be innocent of any offences.

I still think the bans will only apply to seasonals and getting reported in a lobby.

I have had fun nearly every single night since GT5 came out. It took a little work to build a friends list full of great drivers but now I have one – and it takes about 15 minutes to have a really fun room from the time I start the game.

I never needed to hack the game save to have a good time and, in fact, the hacked cars brought everyone under a cloud of suspicion. Just the other night after one of my fastest friends left, she was accused of hacking – I told the guy she was fast way before the hacking ever began.

…A SHELBY COBRA…

…is in the game.

Getting Cheetos dust you your keyboard is not the same as getting grease under your fingernails.

I think a lot of people posting in this thread would really enjoy this podcast of Science Friday:
http://sciencefriday.com/segment/03/22/2013/for-babies-it-s-better-to-like-what-i-like.html
Babies as young as nine months appear to approve of people who like what they like--and approve of being mean to those who don’t share their tastes. Kiley Hamlin, lead author of a study in the journal Psychological Science, discusses the importance of similarity to young children.

Well, from what I've heard, quite a few people have been banned, however the only thing they all have in common is that they entered a seasonal time trail/drift trail with a hybrid car... So basically, if you don't want to get banned, then don't enter the seasonals with a hybrid.

I never even touch my keyboard :sly:

I've always had fun with GT5, just now I have extra fun. Maybe I should be punished for all this fun.

But, for those of us who cant afford to build what we want and dont have the tools in GT5 to do it, hybridding is the next best thing. BTW, the Cobra would be a real life equivalent of a Hybrid being's that it is a car with a motor, drivetrain and tire size that was NEVER intended to be in the car. A Miata with an LS1 in GT5 is no different than a Cobra in the sense that there was room for improvment so someone, in the Cobra's case Mr. Shelby, made an improvment. No matter what you say A Cobra(yes it is in the game I know) was NEVER intended to exist from Ford or A/C Cars. Also, Just for the record if there wouldn't have been a Cobra the Dodge behemoth known as a Viper would not have been made(inspired by the Cobra and Shelby assisted in the design) meaning the V10 from said Viper would have never been developed i turn meaning vehicles of the likes of the SRT-10 Ram, Chrysler Tomahawk and a few V10 powered Mecedes's would have been relegated eithera trash bin, a smaller engine or never even thought of.

I find your post rather arrogant and that last statement is an assumption.

Still an interesting point of view.

Hei
Except for the ram. That V10 is from a ram.

Nope, the SRT-10 is a Viper V10 not the Magnum V10 found in most larger Rams(2500 and 3500 gas models iirc) the Magnum has a smaller power band and a lower rev limiter.

edit: the block is similar but after that it's like an LT1 vs. an LS1

Well it's developed from the magnum V10 and tuned by lamborghini when it was put in the viper.

Yeah, check the link though. The truck 8.0 is completely different from the Viper 8.0. Main difference being is the Truck engine is Iron and the Viper's is Aluminum. BTW, we are wayyyyyyyy off topic now lol.

Come on man. It is the same principle. You are now just beating around the bush with that statement.

Exactly

I thought this was about hacking, not Cheetos dust...

Anyway, I'm waiting for someone on GTP to get banned. Then we'll know who's entered the TTs with a hybrid on GTP. :P

Based on my experience with other online video games proceeding to ban hacked items or people using bots, etc...
My guess is that these would be the most likely reasons to wind up getting your account banned, in order of likelihood:

1) using a hacked car to cheat in an official seasonal time trial or drift trial

2) using a hacked car to cheat or grief in a pub lobby where it's not welcome & people get mad & report you on psn using the "report" option

3) you have hacked cars... and someone, who knows your PSN username (on PSN, here, or somewhere else), feels sour grapes over some perceived slight, getting kicked from your room, or feeling insulted by you for something, and uses the Official Playstation Grief Reporting page to report you to try & get you in trouble - PD checks your acct and finds you have the hacked cars

4) PD institutes some overall system to check game saves for non legit game data, as you log into PSN

#1 - I think is the most likely to get you banned, and soon if not already.
#4 - has obviously not happened yet... but it's possible it will.

#3 is the one that most people here ought to be worried about - based on some of the hysterical nutty messages I've received after kicking someone out of a pub lobby or some of the excessively out of proportion haughty reactions I've seen over race incident disputes. :boggled:

Not to mention the heated passionate discussions people have over what amounts to liking or not liking green beans.

Also, the internet is not exactly a hot bed of mental health.

None of this matters to me personally because I don't have any of these cars or anything, and I never really cared to either.
However it would be unfortunate I think if someone got banned when they were just messing around with a curiosity for fun, and not actually using the hacked cars to do things that make people annoyed or angry... but said or did something else that upset the wrong person. :indiff:
So it probably would behoove people to think about these things.

And of course people sometimes use the Grief Reporting system on PSN for legitimate reasons. Not saying that it's always petty of course.
Thankfully the blocking feature has worked well enough for me thus far. *knocks on wood* :nervous: But I imagine the report feature exists for good reason. :ill:
