Some people on the NGU forums are reporting that they have been banned and cannot access the online portion of GT5. However there aren't many of them and they could just be experiencing normal server problems.

Does 'secret menu' have to do with hacking cars/how hacked cars are made, or is it just another form of hacking people are doing to the game?
(I dont need to know what it is, or how to do it, i just keep on hearing about it, and im just curious if it afftects hybrids or not)
The secret menu doesn't have anything to do with Hybrid cars, it's more to do with User settings (such as changing your online name) and AI oppenent settings.
Ok, and the reason why I approached it so carefully is because I thought I could get banned on gtp from talking about it, because I thought it was a method of hacking or something
The grip multiplier isn't actually there for a reason.NFSCARBON1Also I have a question which somebody else brought up. If PD do not want their cars hacked, what is the purpose of the HP multiplier and Grip multiplier? They have no apparent purpose in game, yet are there?
Three years ago was pre-launch hype in full-on GTP overdrive - a bit unfair to compare the two moments in time.Take a look at the forum now, and the forum from 3 years ago. It's dead.
The grip multiplier isn't actually there for a reason.
When you change tires all it is doing is changing the grip multiplier. Nothing else. Like going from racing hard to racing medium to racing softs that increase in grip is the grip multiplier going up.
Same principle for the power limiter
And grip multiplier isn't a cheat, the cars PP increases.Let's not forget that 'grip multiplier' is something enthusiasts have come up with to help define and understand that different tyre types. As far as I have seen, it's not 'confirmed' by PD in any way.

Because they were both in GT3, and PD has basically carried the modification system over from that directly unchanged. As for why it was in GT3... who knows. Maybe had something to do with the rubber band AI that GT3 still had.

Anyway, in reply to the observation made, just because this forum is quieter (by no means dead) that is still only representative of a fraction of the people who play the game. Also not everyone posts.
I think hacked car users fall into 3 basic categories.
Obviously the 1st & 2nd categories are the ones that people find offensive, with the 3rd category including a wide variety of players, many who are honest and would never use them to cheat or grief other players.
- people who've used hacked cars to cheat in official time trials
- people who use hacked cars to cheat or be a griefer in online racing with other players
- people who use hacked cars for fun offline or online only where they are welcome
My guess is that the ban has immediately effected the people in category 1.
However, based on my experience with other online video games and hacked items getting account bans... maybe being reported for griefing with them or something like that could get an account banned. I wouldn't totally rule that out, because I've seen it happen in other online games.
Oh yes, exactly.
I don't know what the actual statistics would be. But this whole "dead" thing is total exaggeration for emotional effect.
