Notice of Account Ban measures

Some people on the NGU forums are reporting that they have been banned and cannot access the online portion of GT5. However there aren't many of them and they could just be experiencing normal server problems.

In my opinion (please don't jump on my back for stating an opinion) I think hybriding has done well for the game. As one stated before, the game has turned dull, seasonal events act as a rabbit chase, and the aspec and bspec level of excitement is very low. Hybriding has given a lot of people motivation to continue playing the game.
And I do agree that hybriding has ruined some online room play, but those are the people with no common sense and respect. And yes, the ones who use hybrids for TT and DT are wrong as well, and those are he ones hat should be reprimanded. I for one do use hybrid cars, but only in hybrid rooms, and every time it'll be a controlled hp/weight drag room, never in a non hybrid regular room.
And to the people that have such an issue with someone coming in with a hybrid when you're trying to race with your friends, what's stopping you from inviting them to your personal lounge to race? Yes, you can say it's wrong and thats not how it's supposed to be, and your right, but face it, it's going to happen. I've raced in my lounge numerous times when trying to run a decent 600-700pp race with a few friends.
At the end of the day people, ITS A GAME, NOT A CAREER. No matter what anyone says or does, people will find a way around anything.

I used a rwd gti for a drift seasonal once, but that mostly for fun. And it was Terrible lol. The thought of using Hybrits to cheat the seasonals hadn't even crossed my mind until I just read it lol.

on NGU some guy said he was banned because of Secret Menu...

Does 'secret menu' have to do with hacking cars/how hacked cars are made, or is it just another form of hacking people are doing to the game?
(I dont need to know what it is, or how to do it, i just keep on hearing about it, and im just curious if it afftects hybrids or not)

lol, is this the post you are talking about?

Oh f*&^ xD, i got banned but i think this isn´t a problem, ill back in my other account the reason of this is becuase i usd the secret menu or did a normal points in drift challenge wt a gtr chassis swaped but im dont worried the only problem is i losted my drag cars 1 GTR that does 8.901 but i can copy the setup, when u get banned u can enter in the game but dont play online i one of the biggest problem is u lost tht acc friends but wt this hacks i can make my game near 100% on another acc keep making hybrids we are the power now but remember dont make retard things like me but we need to admite tht **** passed the limits, we are making the PD lost some money.

I don't think this is a reliable source.

There is a chance the secret menu could get you banned, if you do something like use the lounge demo, which allows you change your on-track name. But that is speculation.

I think you have a good point. Through all the conversation everyone has been following who has actually been banned?

All opinions are healthy of course. Mine is if you obtained / altered DLC or used Hybrid cars in ranked events you deserve what you get but to your point other than a few scattered claims on other forums is there anyone who has gotten hit with the ban hammer?

It doesn't appear to be the case so far

The secret menu doesn't have anything to do with Hybrid cars, it's more to do with User settings (such as changing your online name) and AI oppenent settings.

Ok, and the reason why I approached it so carefully is because I thought I could get banned on gtp from talking about it, because I thought it was a method of hacking or something :scared:

It is a hack in itself, not a method for hacking. If you remember the secret menu from GT5:P this is a similar menu, but it can only be accessed through hacking, not through a combination of key presses.

Also I have a question which somebody else brought up. If PD do not want their cars hacked, what is the purpose of the HP multiplier and Grip multiplier? They have no apparent purpose in game, yet are there?

The grip multiplier isn't actually there for a reason.

When you change tires all it is doing is changing the grip multiplier. Nothing else. Like going from racing hard to racing medium to racing softs that increase in grip is the grip multiplier going up.

Same principle for the power limiter

Im still using mine offline we will see I guess how in depth the banning crusade goes.

Take a look at the forum now, and the forum from 3 years ago. It's dead.
Three years ago was pre-launch hype in full-on GTP overdrive - a bit unfair to compare the two moments in time.

Anyway, in reply to the observation made, just because this forum is quieter (by no means dead) that is still only representative of a fraction of the people who play the game. Also not everyone posts.

Let's not forget that 'grip multiplier' is something enthusiasts have come up with to help define and understand that different tyre types. As far as I have seen, it's not 'confirmed' by PD in any way.

And grip multiplier isn't a cheat, the cars PP increases.

Ummm no it is actually what PD uses. Believe me or not I have been explaining this before. The power limiter is obvious that it is that too. Me and others have posted what i have said about the grip and power multiplier many times before in many other threads. Believe it or not it is what it is.

Because they were both in GT3, and PD has basically carried the modification system over from that directly unchanged. As for why it was in GT3... who knows. Maybe had something to do with the rubber band AI that GT3 still had.

Now that makes a lot of sense. And the fact it's carried over from GT3 makes sense too, the oldest cars in GT5 originated in GT3.

Edit: Come to think of it they may be left in GT5 for the Boost system online. Doesn't that work a lot like rubberbanding?

I think hacked car users fall into 3 basic categories.
  1. people who've used hacked cars to cheat in official time trials
  2. people who use hacked cars to cheat or be a griefer in online racing with other players
  3. people who use hacked cars for fun offline or online only where they are welcome
Obviously the 1st & 2nd categories are the ones that people find offensive, with the 3rd category including a wide variety of players, many who are honest and would never use them to cheat or grief other players.

My guess is that the ban has immediately effected the people in category 1.

However, based on my experience with other online video games and hacked items getting account bans... maybe being reported for griefing with them or something like that could get an account banned. I wouldn't totally rule that out, because I've seen it happen in other online games.

Oh yes, exactly.
I don't know what the actual statistics would be. But this whole "dead" thing is total exaggeration for emotional effect.

Well. I don't use the hacked cars for TT's, hell. I haven't done the TT's in months... But I use them for my own personal use.
That is all.

Used the hacked cars for fun, I did ONE Seasonal Event that was not a TT. Thats it though. I just used them for screwing around and showing them off to people online.

Do what ever you want with these spawns of Satan, just don’t bring them online.

I get a lot of cars gifted to me. Before I bring GT5 back online tonight I am going to delete all of my gifts (just in case). I am, however, going to take photos of the tuning sheet from each car so I can reproduce them if they were legitimate.

So many great cars getting deleted because of a few punk hackers.

And I did say punks – all of you.

“oh my realistic reproduction hybrid…”

NO your freaking hacked game save freak mobiles.

Oh how I welcome the big banhammer.

Chrunch them all!!!!!

Nope, nothing banned so far. I created a new account especially for hybrids, I'm not stupid enough to risk contaminating any of my main accounts with them. I've also not used any hybrids in any online lobby only permanently borrowed them from other people and driven them offline, driving them online would also have been almost equally as dumb.

So I'm guessing at this point any account banning will likely be for using them online in seasonals or possibly lobbies, but who knows eh?

I'm still using hybrids online :sly:.

Nothing yet :D. Crunch? Captain Crunch? Hybriding gets you Captain Crunch :embarrassed: I willl never stop if that's the case.

Yes, well I hope it's obvious that I think probably quite a lot of people here on GTPlanet who have hacked cars probably would more likely fall into category 3 (from my previous post). Well, that's what I'm guessing.
And the people who don't are probably more unlikely to go around announcing it. Well, particularly if they fall into category 1... which means I highly doubt we'll hear too many reports from people who've had their accounts banned, if that's the people who had accounts banned.
Unless of course they start banning accounts that are reported or something and they detect it & stuff like that. Then maybe you'd hear some reports of it.

What the, hey! This thread started yesterday and it already has 240 posts.

As your button pushing average ability racer here all I can say is GOOD ONE.

One only has to look at YouTube to see hybrid race cars in action against legit cars.

I'm glad to see they will not be tolerated here (Seasonals) and hopefully in any online races.

And while I doubt it would be the case, I wonder if any of the top racers in the Seasonals have used them at any time?

I would suggest that there should be an amnesty though for those who have used them to delete/destroy/remove them from their lineup first before removing/banning anyone's ID. Perhaps give everyone a week or two as some may not even be aware due to their own personal circumstances.

I could see a place for them in a separate category, maybe, but again they would remain in ones garage and that could be a problem. Probably best to outlaw them altogether.
