I'm going to do some testing with the F40 right now. I'll report back in a few 👍
Just got done after a quick tuning session. My best was a 2'07.339 after about 5 laps with a decent baseline tune. This car is definately a challenge to get dialed in! I'm off for some more laps...👍
Nice lap. Now I know CWR will stop at nothing to run low 7s consistently lol
I am planning on changing my racing line for the first right hander in the esses, then I'm going to work on degner...if I improve I can see high 7s in clean air for me.
Thanks Hopefully I can knock off a 2'06.xx with some more seat time and fine tuning.
As far as the first right hander in the esses. It's crucial to take that corner as straight as possible without overdriving the car and sacraficing your line for the next left and right hander, which lead up to the very crucial dunlop corner. When approaching T3 (the left hander entering the esses) I try and carry as much speed as possible through there while turning in as early as possible in order to clip the apex perfectly. From there I scrub a bit of speed and turn in VERY early for T4, the right hander you're speaking of. This of course helps to make your line as direct as possible while maintaing good speed, without sacraficing your line and entry for the following left hander (T5). It's quite easy to lose a LOT of time and momentum through this portion by taking a line that is not as direct as possible. How well you get through the entire "S" section is really dependent on how you initially enter the esses and the first left hander. It's all about keeping the flow and momentum up by running a really direct/straight line. Just my 2 cents of help
I have a question, do you guys brake in a straight line for the 2nd right hander of degner, or do you brake while turning into the corner?
Trail braking into Degner 2 is crucial with just about any car. Trail braking (slowly letting off the brakes as you approach the apex) helps to give the car the front bite you need to carry your momentum through there. If you don't trail brake you end up with a much slower entry than ideal. With the F40 and my particular set-up, I find that I must be quite exact with the entry speed and amount of braking that I apply as I turn in though. If I give too much brake I end up over loading the fronts and running a bit wide. That's probably less of a problem when having a wheel and pedals though.
I was just reminding everyone that the tournament is today! I haven't seen much participation on this combo. I hope you guys are ready for this one.
I desperately need to get some more practice in before the races today. Only got about 15 minutes seat time in this car last week
Regarding delayed starts - Isn't that kind of unfair for us just to be sitting in front of everyone creating a road block for their starts? I'm sure we wouldn't be too happy if another group was just parked in front of us on the grid. Not only that, we are also minimizing the effectiveness of waiting 15 seconds as were likely going to create a roadblock for everyone behind us to get around. It might be better and more respectful to just pull off the grid entirely and re-position ourselves before 15 seconds. Just a thought for next time maybe 💡
I catch it magnificently and in the end lost only like 5 or 6 seconds, but that was enough for not only Earth, but TitsyBits (who is a direct rival for the promotion to Orange Cup) to pass me.
Race 1: 6th
Race 2: DNF
Tune: my own
tough week
Make that "TwistyBits" please. Although, "TitsyBits" ain't bad either. 👍 And, you had a guardian angel following you, the very laggy guy with the alphabet soup tag. We both caught up to you on L7 or 8, but he went totally berserk at the 2nd Degner. Caused me to throw the car away. Ah, well, not really his fault.
