Nurb 24Hr Supplies

Hello

I started this thread about the food and drink people used to complete the 24Hr races in one and other things people used to do the 24Hr races (etc. how to stay awake, how to keep focus) :nervous: :nervous:

P.S there are some items you can't buy in Ireland (Mountain Dew, Slim Jims, etc.....)

Thanks

i would recommend something that is easily and quickly edible, mildly filling and easy to prepare. not too much junk as 24 hours of chocolate is bad. you could take a 5 minute break, put something in to cook like a pizza, race for 20 odd mins then get the food and eat for 10. that way your next break is going to be further away 👍

as for drinks, water is good. coke tends to make you need to drink more :(

Crackers, coffee and coca-cola. Should cover any emergencies.

Who can eat while they're racing, anyway?

Plus, it's better to take long breaks anyway, as you'll only have one or two catching up laps to do instead of interruptions every hour or so.

in my last write-up of a 24hr race, I mentioned our strategy. it involved running 2 hr stints, switching between 3 drivers, like real life. so try and get some sleep in your 4 hour break, then drink some coffee/energy drink right before you race, along with a quik bite. fruit is good, high in sugur to keep you energized, try to stay away from junk food, like pizza and sweets, they give you a quik high, then a long low. in your 4 hour break, drink stuff like water or juice. NOT caffeine! this will stop you from getting a much needed 1-3 hours of sleep.

this works so well in fact, that I was able to get 4-6 hours of sleep during the whole race, and went on with my day as if I had just slept all night. good luck!
