Hello all and welcome to week 5 of the NRS!​

We are in full swing now and going well with a good amount of regular participants, keep up the good work! 👍

In week 5 we cover the 300-350BHP power bracket with some serious machines starting to appear, ive chosen a mix of up to date and slightly older machinery for this week but all showed fine ability and "Fun" factor which is why they are here..

Please try not to discuss the cars and your choices on here, just by PM to myself,

Feel free to test each car,I really would recommend that you do as each one of these has a different style and approach on the Ring....testing was done on "S1" tyres this week for comparisons. See you sunday for the results!

Nitro, i dont mean to be pedantic about this but participation or not could you refrain from discussing the cars within this thread until the winner is announced?. I usually put in the first post "No discussing" cars on here" and forgot to do that this week so 👎 to me but will edit it in.

Know it seems over the top but i want to get a clean vote with no influence where possible, im not having a dig...just my preference

Driving a skyline in a GT4 comp is pretty inevitable anway... mind as well get it over with early.

but looking at the parts... aww... no adjustable center diff.

I'm not sure I have this car or not. The Nissan dealership doesn't carry it, but upon checking out the used carlots I found something similar, but I'm not sure it's actually the right one:
Nisaan Skyline GTR V Spec '95 ... it doesn't mention anything about a "R33" anywhere in it's name, title or description, so should I keep looking?

EDIT: Okay, this skyline - modded as outlined above - comes in 5 HP short (and it only has a couple of hundred miles on the clock) .. this is after the oil change and everything, so it must be the wrong type. I don't have a R33 model available to me right now, so I'll hope that one comes up in the showrooms soon, otherwise I'll have to sit out this week.

Skylines drive better with no VCD, they have a system callled atessa.
much better than LSD or VCD.

kind of unfair though... since anyone that scores the 6.2mi *new* car is going to have a HP advantage.. since all other used cars have weakened engines.

Thanks for the link. I took my GTR V Spc '95 out for a spin and loved it's handling, but it's definitively not the right car: perfect weight, but short on HP. I'll wait for the proper version to come around, but one question on that ... I'm on day 1455 ... how does that translate to the database?

I have a huge collection of Skylines ... but that isn't one of them!!! (so many 34's and no 33's). I only have one memory card also and while I keep meaning to buy another and download an ubersave to it, I haven't got around to spending the money yet and it's kinda something that never been a 'burning need'. I can burn off a week or so of time in game easily enough, it'll just mean that I can drive until later in the week and I'm going to have some high mileage monster

Hi Folks

First, apologies for missing week 4, had family staying over for the week. Only
had time for a few laps using the DS2 and I found out I'm way out of practice with it. crashed and burned every few kilometers lol .

Now onto Week 5. I have purchased a 1997 GT-R V-Spec R33, and after doing the
power mods find I'm coming up with a figure of 372BHP, some 20BHP down on the
stated figures. This car has about 50,000 km on the clock, wether the distance has
anything to do with the power difference I'm not sure. ( yes I did change the Oil )
Just a little concern as I need every dammed BHP I can get .

Lets get serious and race with the R34 GTR M-spec Nur

It is the best skyline and handles much better than a R33.

Plus its new so anybody can buy it and have the same hp.

It may need down tuning to keep it in the horsepower bracket though chippy.

Im sure Dave has considered all things he needs to for the series, as it is his baby after all.

Still, i see your point, for ease of entry for everyone to have a balanced field, etc, but i think the differences will not be sooo great, and if the drivers with less power are recognised as such, then their skill will be all the more admirable.

Just my monday morning thoughts.

Im gutted i didnt get to submit for the nsx, i had a blinding lap.

Maybe this week.

I got the same problem as everyone else.

I got myself a 95' in beautiful Dark Gray... but i can't get it over 369BHP. Also, that thing is a pig around corners but i do love the sound of the turbo... pssssssssss...

I just wanted to say that I am a little concerned, or disappointed rather, that some of the modifications we are doing to the cars (port polish, weight reduction) cannot be undone. So whatever car we are racing with in the series I have to go and buy or try to buy an extra one because I don't like altering my cars irrepairably.

But the Nurb and this series kicks butt!

Also, for those of us with this car that have well over 10km on the odometer, do we get to do a chassis refresh or are we just out of luck, in which case we need to go find a new one.

Speedy, just do a few laps of Dicapri in the special event series (rally thingy) and win the 650,000$ car a few times and resell them. its technically a cheat, but who cares, pretend its a sponsorship for the Nurb series we're doin'

we could also fix this problem by selecting another similar car like the evo if we want to keep the 4wd thingy going, or the RUF since it was the second choice... problem solved.

I disagree.

The '00 Skyline GT-R.

That's the best skyline.

It weighs only 1540kg (which is the lightest of any R34).
The weight can also be tuned down to the lowest levels of any normal R34 as well. 👍

No v-spec or Nur... Just the plain Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 '00.

Availible as a new car at the dealer and I've got a hunch it's the cheapest of the skylines from the dealer as well.

Anyway, it doesn't matter... Sorry to get involved.

Btw, when do the results for week 4 go up?
I can't wait to post my time and hopefully my replay shortly there after.
Should be interesting to see what watson did as well as fryz... I'm wondering to myself if I had a good final section or not.

Post Script:
I suggest a new vote is done and the candidates are limited to 2 models, both new cars availible from the dealer.
3400S or R34 '00
