Forza also needs less-clean tracks. I swear the tracks in Forza Motorsport 3 look like a McLaren production facility.:

you serious. GT I would say are clean. Forza's look used.

After 20 laps with the skidmarks all over the place it looks used lol. I like how the marks never leave the track even if you back out the room and come back they are still there. I would like this in FM4.

Don't forget drag compound tires. That was a huge shocker for me. I was on the FM.net forums allot last year talking about the traction problems in FM3's drag racing.

Same here. I am a Drag Racing fanatic, just because that's what I started doing as a kid.

Anyways, who on here bought a Mustang GT in GT5 and got a v6 mustang sound that was even more atrocious then an actual 3.8 or 4.0 with race exhaust? haha I always thought forza did well when sounds. For instance a Ford GT in both games, there is no comparison in sound. I won't get into my gripes with GT5 though.

Cheers.

Yea the race exhaust sounds bad on some cars, however the GT40 especially the race car version sounds amazing In GT5. I love the engine sound in FM3 but the replay sounds need improvment. Sorry for being off topic.

And it needs to be said (again) that one of the head audio nuts from Bizarre is with T10 now. So, FM4 stands a very, very good chance of supplanting PGR4.

Personally I still dont care much for the new Camaros. I still prefer the new Challenger. Even though its a much heavier tank. Overall I prefer the new Mustang out of all 3. :sly:
Now that I Agree 100% with ya on, even tho chevys tend to be cheaper builds as far as interior is concerned they tend put it where it counts in the motor/drivetrain the hell with the fit/finish or build quality, u'll be too busy going fast to worry about shoddy door trim or crappy plastic interior.:sly:

As far as audio:

PGR4 > NFS_shift > Forza > * > GT5
NFS games have always been excellent in the audio department. Especially the new Hot Pursuit game. Incredible audio especially while picking a car in the garage. So I would put NFS above all the games in terms of audio.

The part that drives me insane is when you switch your exhaust, there is no difference. The only way to change the exhaust tone is to swap engines. Thats always been a problem with most racing games. I hope Forza 4 resolves this issue. If I switch the exhaust, it needs to sound different.

True, but the engine swap sound is nice, and also adding a turbo gives you great turbo sounds....as well as a nifty boost gauge in your cockpit. Thsi is in S2 btw.

Yeah I feel Underground 2 Was The Best, you have to admit even after tweaking the audio KR Super Snake was still way to quiet for a mustang of that power and caliber in Hot Pursuit, the cars where hit/miss in hot pursuit some of there audio levels were way to low( I attribute it to criterion's lack of attention to detail coming from kiddie market with burnout.) I'm not gonna say the exhaust notes were off some just did not sound loud enough.....

Need for Speed Usually Kills it in the Sound Department cause ppl in their audio department understand to get the surreal over the top car noise you hear off a tuned exhaust or flowmasters when it flies past you in real life u have to take samples from a better car & amplify/edit/boost um to get the desired movie style or real life effect Forza, GT5, and PGR Never understood this fact if u look sounds files for underground 2 they have Ferrari sound samples yet there was never any ferraris in the nfs underground series they do what they half to boost the sounds and get um right.... NFS Underground 2 was THX Certified for a Reason even the stock mustang gt sounded beastly in that game they blew it out of the water.:sly:

I loved FM3 sounds but i'm not used to all the NFS games they arent really to my taste !

Honda's (being my favourite manufacturer) pop and bang once tuned like real life and actually has VTEC transition noise which is a nice touch and they sound pretty fast and high revving as always. Its a much loved feature of VTEC engines.

I know this isnt really the place for this topic or comparing to GT5 but what bugged me about GT5 the most is that PD and Kaz claim to love the Type-R brand and that the Civic is Japans flagship car and yet they cannot do it any justice - it sounds like a hairdryer and no VTEC transition.

I can only feel Turn10 will improve on what was already great sounding cars and I agree we need the tone change with new exhaust purchases and other upgrades.

With every update on this thread comes more and more great cars I cannot wait to own in my FM4 garage !

The problem with the engine swap is sometimes it puts the car into a much higher class. I usually race B class and most engine swaps that sound good will put the car into A class. While I do love swapping engines, I just wish we could swap the exhaust for the audio we desire. A stock exhaust switched to headers with flowmasters or Borla is a HUGE difference.

I was surprised they didnt announce more cars over the weekend. Must be mainly for the weekdays.

There are quite a few engine swaps that keep your car in B. The Audi's are great for that, as well as some others.

I have over 80 b-class cars. Most of the engine sounds that I want bump the cars to A. Or they dont allow for much upgrades other than the engine swap. Thats why it would be nice to just swap mufflers or the exhaust, and the sound is upgraded. Just like in real life.

Yay for fartcans

If they're in, you could at least tune the older Civics the same way most of thema re tuned IRL. if Forza 4 enables us to cut springs, we'd be getting really close

Just kidding, of course.

Nothing wrong with cutting springs. Thats how I lowered my 69 Camaro and its been like that since 2004. 👍

Kinda figured i'd get that kind of response lol and I take it light hearted anyway as its thrown around a lot.

Just have to say that apart from the common idiots who not only waste their car never mind damage the name of honda civic they are very underrated and very capable and competitive track cars in their class.

My Old Civic had a huge mod list including race coilovers, race header, buddyclub exhaust and an Integra type-r engine at heart 210bhp in a very light car I pulled a respectable 13.7 on the quarter mile. Never did any track days even though I wanted to car was just set up for the road.

While I personally don't like the Civics (never been a fan of FWD), I was indeed referring to the guys who put fart cans on their EG3, which still provides the stock 70HP, but is louder than a proper V8 Mustang. The car also rides on unevenly cut springs and the stereo packs more power than anything else in the car - prefferably with a nice, big rear wing and some LED-headlight thingies, too.

There are at least three of them around here. Very annoying, that's for sure.

Cut springs = the ghetto mod of lowering your car. It's the absolutely worst thing you can do. A 'dead coil' still transfers some of the energy and sadly is the 1st thing ghetto modders do by cutting these dead coils. Putting a torch or a saw to the spring can also change the spring material's properties, potentially making it a weaker spring or one that doesn't have as strong spring constant. I absolutely loathe people who cut springs.... Do it right, get coilovers if you want adjustable height.
Sorry guys but cutting springs is not the right thing to do. Pro race teams do it because they know what they're doing but Jose's Automechanic... not the guys you want to tool around with. If you're gonna do it, do it right.

My 69 Camaro has been like this since 2004 without ANY problems. Thats 7 years along with MANY miles of road track racing, power tour, woodward dream cruise, multiple years and many miles of daily driving. Nothing wrong at all with cutting the coils. You can hate all you want, but it works and is free. I do agree that coil overs are the way to go, but if you are on a tight budget, cutting the coils will get you by for many years. I used a 4" cutting disk. I would not recommend using a torch.
