Thanks,
Yes they are Crager SST. Good eye. It's not a Heavy Chevy. I think those were in 72 but I'm not possitive. It seems like those came with a 396 or a 350 package and no cowel induction.

Man i never really disliked what you had to say ,and as to modding a "muscle car" hell its what they were built for .I just disagree to mod a rare one ,like that hemi cuda in mopar muscle one of 3 or 4 built .Do you really think someone would pay a million dollars for a rare car that is all messed up or one as close to original as possiable ? Thats why that car sold for close to a million it was so original , low miles used a drag car since new and raced like ony a year or two.miles dont add that quick a quarter at a time. And as for modding an average muscle car hell im guilty of it myself. i have some pics of my buddy car a 68 camaro we tubbed it narrowed rearend ,fiberglass doghouse and a 396 built by rayburn race engines .and like i said my dad raced a 69 GTX it was far from stock.you know i love all sorts of mods from just after market stuff to real home made stuff.and as for that i have way more respect for the guy who builds his own stuff than the guy who just goes and pays some one to build their car.Even if the car is not perfect it doesnt matter you can see the pride on a guy or gal who builds a car in the home garage or back yard. And i have been close to mexico in brownsville Tx. my best friend in Tx. jesus elizondo family lived there. There was alot of older cars around that place. You know the cars they call the bombas or bombs here , ilove those style of cars.and i have a love for customs of the 50's and 60's . My first was 54 2 dr in 87 it sat only like 4 1/2 inches off the ground had spotlights shaved handles and crager ss wheels with skinny whites .my alltime favorite car when i went in the service i left it at my dads house and he got drunk one nite and traded it off for 2 caddy's :( :( i cried like a little baby when i found out ,but he was my dad so i had to let it go .And yes i still got the gasser sitting waiting on tax time to build a new pole barn hopefully i will get the 40' x 60' that way i can tear into all my cars at once .And i hope there is no hard feelings just a friendly argument and i hope you do get to build a car someday nothing makes me happier than getting in my car and cruising :sly: .Oh by the way i saw the post in the photos section alot of nice cars in those pics ,well good luck and just keep that dream it will happen soon.

there were never such hard feelings dude, there are preciously few of us in GTP to divide our selves over the cars we love. I wouldnt mind modding a rare muscle car because I would NEVER sell one of those (: I wont appreciate a muscle car for its value or rarity, but because of, you know, the thrills, what it can do... and since im gonna keep it, I could as well drive and enjoy the thing like hell :D

and I tell you, no problems with you or anyone in this thread, except the idiotic cleveland, who should go and sink his head in a forum that will allow him to inflate his stupid ego and alter-knowing of "the subject we are talking about" and all that ****.

Cano your the one talking sh** , I was just pointing out
the true meaning of a "muscle car". Unlike your stupid meaning of one, it was just too dumb I had to say something.

My definition of a muscle car is any sports car from the 60's and 70's. Especially the ones with V8s in them. The exception to me is the Vette because it's always been a muscle car to me.

Haha i got a sponser, and they gave me a 400 SB with approx 700-800hp hehehe it has a supercharger, they are also giving me a new drive train, they said something about titanium driveshaft. hehehe.. i also have 10,000 to blow on suspension and brake stuff. haha couldn't be more happier. Now wouldn't it suck to be in a cuda and get smoked by an 80s monte.. lol i'll have to win some races and get one of my dream cars.

In reality the GTO is credited as the first real muscle car.But if look back farther there were duesenburghs in the 30's with 325 to 350 hp. but i think it all started in the 50's with the mopars and desotos packards alot of them had the original hemis in them two 4 barrel carbs and were fast as hell for what they were. my uncle had a 57 desoto convertable with a hemi 2 4's fact headers that were cast and a stick shift ,that thing was fast. my dad had a 58 pontiac bonneville convertable V-8 three 2 barrels and a stick fast but hard on gas.he also had a 57 studebaker golden hawk it had a supercharged 327 studebaker motor in it was real fast.so i have to respect the 50's cars also alot of people say it has to be a lightweight car but think about that the roadrunner wasn't a light weight car or most of the mopars were heavy weights.Except some of the specialty cars like the hemi dart it had acid dipped parts and fiberglass parts for weight even the door glass as thinner than stock models for weight savings .

I agree... i would love a 57 chevy bel air 2 dr sport coupe.. long eh.. drop a big block in just cuz and make it fairly stock lookin on the outside.. excest a great stance and some kind of 5 spoke cragar or something like that.. oh yeah and metallic sapphire blue.. thats a dream car man.

My uncle tim has a 57 2 dr. bel-aire 283 auto all factory black outside silver with black inserts on the seats all original style it has crager ss wheels and a nice stance ,that car is sweet . gotta love fins:embarrassed:

love fins indeed. I always liked the styling of the "batwing" 59 Impala, and the 58 too. too bad those are being destroyed into lowriders recklessly. We have to remember that in the 55 model year of chevrolet began the pushrod 265 V8, and from there our dear small block was born, in 57 it was the 283 hp "black widow" trimmed car to compete in stock drag racing, and from there chevy had a somewhat good career on
drag racing, but never came close to what ford and mopar achieved. for 50s cars, a favorite of mine is the 49-51 mercury (of course) the 49-51 Ford "shoebox" (of course) and the 58-59 Impalas and byzcaynes, but I wouyld give all that away for a wagon version of that stuff!! I love wagons, they are cool and hot and they can be transformed into real statements. I dont know if you saw some real cool concept customs in the past years, starting with troy trepaniers "intruder" 57 Ford wagon, orange and gray, blown 351W, you know, the stuff. heavily modded body, it looked impressive. the we had "real mad" and "newmad" a black and tangerine and blue and white cars, respectively, who wore almost completely handmade bodies, and a custom chassis with goodies galore. ooh, I would trade any car to do some of those things, Id prefer a wagon version over a sedan/coupé any day. wagons rule.

Yes the Intruder does look outstanding i saw it at a goodguys show in indy very nice car. And a 59 is a wonderful car a guy in brazil in has a 2 dr sedan it may be a biscayne but it has a 6 with a three on the tree:( 2 bad its not a 348 3 2 barrel car .i like the wagons myself .Iwould like to find a 49-50 ford or merc woodie 2 dr or a 64-64 2 dr malibu wagon as you can see i like the 2 dr cars better, dont get me wrong if a nice early 60's wagon came my way right i would not turn it down. You know I was sitting here thinking about all the cars i have posted about owning or my family owning and cars i know where are at ,and i figured alot of people probably think im full of crap .But it seems there are alot of older cars around here just sitting i can show people maybe 50 -75 just sitting in barns ,yards ,farm lots or cow pastures in fact right by my work a guys has a 69 cutlas and a 63 pontiac in a cow pasture just rotting away and wont sell them. i know where a 55 chevy convertable is in a lean too that looks like it is going to fall on it , i asked about the car and he said " get off my property " i have been told "you see a sign in it" there is a 68 SS camaro in town in a drive way that has been there 3 years with out a motor in it and it is a nice car.i know where a 56 nomad is by a barn close to greencastle that is a shame they let jus sit .Well sorry for rambling on .

not to be sorry at all! I also know where are about 70 abandoned cars ON THE CITY STREETS. Im just crakinc off an english version of my site, so you can see what I mean. my site has a section of abandoned cars, of wich I take pictures of and keep a database so I know exactly where they are. I have found everything from a VW Bus 23 window to a Danged-rare-in-mexico 70 Challenger RT convertible :( just sitting there and rotting away, mustangs, impalas, a 57 chevy hardtop, superbees, and stuff like that in the streets of mexico city, let alone yards and barns, as Im not really able to explore places like that. its cool to discover such treasures, but it is also sad to see them just fadding there, most of the times the owner will never be found and things like that that really sadden me. when the engish version of hotrodcano is ready (just spanish at the moment) I will of course bark about it here, so you all can go and take a look.

ok then, Im gonna give it away, altough the design is that bad because it was part of a school project wich got overtime, so I had to whip something quickly to give it to the teacher. the adress is www.hotrodcano.tk
it will take you to a blank page with a 32 ford toon on it (made by me of course :D) that says that hot rod cano aint open yet, but the automotive section (only link working, one that says Seccion Automotriz) is kickin now. go there. I promise I'll have the english version up this week, given I have the time. tell me what you think (:

Cano

DGB, you speak/read spanish man?

*Off topic*-- I just got through drawing a hot rod that was thought of a while back. I just put it to the paper about 2 hours ago with the wheels and tires. Now it's completed, lots of erasing but you can't tell-- a good pencil always helps with that. Kind of looks like a Supa Hot Rodded Prowler or something. I just wish we hadn't blown our last scanner.:(

welll, keeping eith that, it wont be off from two weeks that my car art page will be open. you will hear about it here (:

first i m new and wld like to be a member
although i m poor and can t afford the expensive "muscle cars" i have a 71 maverick (go ahead and laugh) that cost me 850. i bought a 302 for 200 and the edelbrock performer kit for 550.
for under 2 grand the kids in 350 camaros and 351 mustangs cant touch me, (i guess it helps to weigh less than a honda civic does most years) even with their officially sanctioned by all "muscle car"label i m not a ford guy or a chevy or a mopar i m a poor kid who likes power regardless of the badge or label that comes with it isn t that enough

anyway i ve been reading posts on subjects for about 12 hours now so sorry it s long and i ramble and have poor grammer

I WONT laugh at you. I will respect you and your car with whatever I have, because I know what Mavericks can do. over here in mexico, they are prime material because they are everywhere, effin cheap, and easy to hop up (they came with factory 302s, so its a sure bet) and I have seen monstruous mavericks eat mustangs and even a viper. you are working with what you have, and you are dping for the effin fun of it and for going fast. I can do nothing else but respect that and bow. maybe this dude would understand why I want to mod a Fairmont :D

Cano

welllllcome, indeed!

ouch man, you are COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY NUTS. Shelby's presence on this country went practically unnoticed, and finding one today would be INCREDIBLY, INCREDIBLY hard, because neither that nor the Shelby LTD received the attention and pride they deserved, and now I dont know if even one survives. but they were really cool. I will try to ask for some of that cool stuff over at the mustang club mexico, they may know some stuff. but, heheheHEHE... if they do... ITS FOR ME!!! :D
