Ireland's on same time zone (BST) as you guys.

Well done on finishing exams btw.
You learn something new every day! And thanks. 1000 mugs of coffee later and I just got through them! :)

Finish mine on Wednesday and Akmuq finished his on the 11th.

I finish my Leaving Cert (equivalent to A Levels for the Brits and for the Americans it's my final tests in high school.) on the 18th, so that will most likely be a night out, but I'll have the pick forms up in advance. And the tables will be done when I can get them done, hopefully on time.

Since this has become relevant, I'll tell you that when I was in high school (I'm 30 so that you can get a frame of reference), there were four sets of finals tests that I must undertake if I wished to advance my education to college[University], but one was required to even get my diploma.

The school district competes for state funds, and the state in turn competes for funds from the federal government. The only barometer for how the money gets distributed is through test scores. In Texas, where I'm from, had the TAAS test, it is a test that I had to undertake in the 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 10th grades. Each test comes in three portions, literacy, mathematics, and social sciences, and failure on one portion means that you can't advance to the next grade.

The 10th grade test has something special on the line. Pass this test, and you would earn your diploma on your senior year, barring that you pass the 11th and 12th grades in the first place.

The other three tests were college prep tests, the PSAT, the SAT and the ACT tests.

Sounds like an awful lot to have to pass. We only have to pass core subjects in 3rd year (15yo) and in 6th year (18yo) like maths and English. Others are to get your points (score) up for getting acceptance into collage.

uni expect B's in GCSE and now a C for my Alevels, but they give us COMMS (essential skills) which give us UCAS points for uni
usually you do 4 subjects in 1st year of A level. then you must drop one for the 2nd year.
Good luck though guys! If any of you did 1st year A level course this year send us a PM, i'd like to know how you found it

I said was for a reason, @Matty. After I graduated high school, the tests changed around year after year since. Half of that is because the way that Texas distributes education funds, a so called "Robin Hood" system, has been a sore spot of education funding for the state's schools since its inception, and half of the way that the state takes metrics for distributing the funds has been through the TAAS testing.

For example, an outstanding school might get more funds than an acceptable school based on test scores, however, if there is less population in the acceptable school, the Robin Hood system will kick in and take school taxes from the outstanding school and give it to the acceptable school. In other words, the Robin Hood system is a giant redistribution of wealth scheme.

Thankfully the Robin Hood system was declared unconstitutional after the 2001-2002 school year.

That sounds fair though.

If I understand correctly they used to take funds from richer, weathier schools to give to poorer, less privileged schools. Which to me is a good way to improve funding and general education around the state.

Then again I don't know all the details.

It'd probably be for the best though if we stopped talking about it here, but I'm happy to continue in PM if you want @Sanji Himura

Last night I picked for (I think) Columbia, Uruguay, Italy and Japan.

The last two games will shake up the table I think. Still unsure between Italy and England, gonna stick with Japan as I reckon they'll have lots of possession.

Picked Colombia, Uruguay, Italy and Ivory Coast for today, need a clean sweep after picking Cameroon and Spain yesterday!
