Official Pics: Audi A5/S5

Did I say that my source was a magazine, or internet publication? My source was Iceman (I think). And the way it was worded was that the car was ready two years ago, but they didnt release it for a good reason.

Given that we've established that neither the engine or chassis were "ready" until relatively recently, we're left with only the conclusion that some bloke on an internet site says that some other bloke on an internet site (maybe) says that the designer finished the body 2 years ago.

Well, gosh. A car designed 2 years before it hit the market? Watch me pass out with amazement.


Here's a thought. Or rather a series of them:
1. When posting your rumours, link directly where the rumour appears, wherever your source is. If it's an internet site link directly to the post in question.
2. Establish for us that your rumours come from a credible source and not some random internet guy. Here's a clue: If the post is in English, the guy isn't from Wolfsburg.
3. If you can't do either of these things, shut the hell up about your "rumours".


Posting information without source reference or credible origin is lying. One more unsupported "rumour" masquerading as fact and I will ban you.

Comparisons flying about with the 3er. Audi fans are a little dissapointed with the A5 whilst traditionally non audi fans seem to be really digging it. One thing is certain though that when put next to a 3er the A5 looks better in my opinion.

A bit like the new XK then. Im not too overly joyed about the design, but theres certain elements in the car that I think could very well make it look absolutely beautiful in real life. Its a pitty that I wont see any on UK roads for a goodwhile still. Some say it wont be till frankfurt that cars are delivered to customers, and thats when the new A4 is meant to be revealed so atleast it will keep us fans happy.

I've seen a good few XK's and I can honestly say I think it's one of the best looking cars in production but I thougth that about the pics too. There is just nothing about this A5 that I think "oh yeah, that's nice". The whole thing is just uninspired imo.

I like this pic of the car. shows off its short front overhang. In certain pics I think the cars a bit ugly, but I seem to like it more everytime I see it, just like how I was with the MK2 TT.

That's not your opinion. That's just the fact you'd say Audi over anything else, esp. when the said Audi looks like 3 Series it ripped off.

Just looking at those pictures, it's so painfully obvious to see Audi use the same lines in everything on the rear. Even the window outlines are the same.

The BMW rear end has sharp lines. The audi has none of that, its lines are swoopy.

I still don't see how the A5 has any design cues from older Audis, or at least not nearly as much as it does with the 3. For some reason, I also never noticed until now how much the R8's shutlines jar with me, visually. Particularly the awkward doorline heading up to the roof... it looks like the car was originally two seperate vehicles glued together, but they slid a tiny bit.

On the topic of the XK, I can admit that when it was first shown in "concept" form, I wasn't too much of a fan. I'm a big Callum guy, but it just felt like he recycled too much and the lights felt odd. However, in person, it's just a gorgeous car, and it really shows up a lot of other designs when it comes to proportions. Yes, it still has the Astonesque profile, but I'll side with Callum that if you want a classy looking big coupe, there's bound to be some similarities. And the guy knows how to design nice cars... de Silva can as well, but the A5 is not a design that will go down remembered, like the first TT, the Countach, or the DB7. I feel kinda bad for the guy calling it his best design (hey, source?); he's selling himself short, the man did some Alfas!

Sexy. I swear most promotional/manufacturers photos just cant capture the beauty of their own products. Consumers and fans do a much better job. I absolutely love the design of this car now. I think its beautiful. Much better than the beemer.

Top pic is a photoshop. Rumours point to above 460hp, either from a bi-turbo 4.2 V8 or from the 5.2 V10. Audi say to get more than 430hp out of the RS4's/r8's NA's lump is not a good idea.

Apart from the fact that the threads posted by audilover are near identical yeah I guess it's some completely different audi fanboy.

To be honest thats what most car make centric forums are like for allot of people, but I wouldn't tar every forum member with the same brush. Although there is always going to be a bias in those sorts of forum.

The CTS-V is far too big to play in this group. it's length is identical to the 5 series. and once the 400 + hp cars start to pop up in this segment it really wont stand a chance. The CTS-V needs to get a serious power boost, and go pick on sombody its own size. (which i would LOVE to see happen)

1) The CTS is certainly larger than the A4 and the 3-series, but in terms of where GM has placed it in the market, it is technically a competitor. Not everywhere of course, but in most places (North America), yes.
2) The A5 is slotted between the A4 and the A6, therefore moving it closer to the CTS in dimensions.
3) The CTS-V will be getting a power-boost to somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 BHP, courtesy of the Z06's LS7 V8, and that should put it solidly ahead of the competition for some time.

But as I said before, I'll be waiting for the next Monaro/GTO in this situation. I loves my Zetas, and the thought of the next-gen GTO with the LS7 makes me pee just a little...

My brother has 2 accounts on scoobynet. His propper one, and the audi one which he basically uses to wind up certain members he has taken a dislike towards.

He will say anything with his audilover account just to get a rise out of certain members.

I dont see any similiarities with anything we say at all. Shumacher having a RS6 (not rs4 btw, unless he has one of those now aswell) is just a fact though. Loads of people will use that argument when they say the RS6 was crap.

lol trust me, what im saying is true. What my brother does to get content is to go on audi sites/forums and just copies and pastes. He takes some stuff from me aswell cause he knows what im like.

He personally doesnt care for audi's at all. Hes more of a mercedes/porsche/evo guy.
