Any tips for today's race? You can run at fuel mix 1 for the three laps and (just) make it, but the tyres are all below half-worn using a DS4. I reckon it'll be safer in a race if I pit at some point, but is the time loss worth it?
I pit on Lap 1 and so did some other players. I just had to get away from a player in 2nd, that blocked the whole lap. I wound up catching back up to it and it pitted on Lap 2.

Did the first 2 laps then pit for a splash of fuel and new tyres for final lap. Personally would have lost more time not pitting and skidding around as I use a pad. Finished 4th despite some enthusiastic punts.

Easy no-stop for 5th and a modest (I'm still DR A) 1,075pt. Managed a fun, race-long battle with a Spanish driver who was clearly a bit faster than me (I think he qualified 5th/6th while I was 4s back in 10th), but who made three minor errors at Adenauer, Flugplatz and Hohenrain so we ended up 0.08s apart at the end - not in my favour

Qualifying for supra race was ruined for me slightly touching a car spinning of which got me a 5! Second penalty. Qualified 14th. In a pretty clean and nice race fought back to 6th for 700ptns. Maybe shouldnt have pitted on lap 2 I think but still a pretty good recovery.

Nürburgring was terrible for me, I was ok up until the second lap and things started going wrong as I started over driving the car. I went off three or four times as my frustration amplified the errors :( finished 12th. sorry to anyone I interacted with while trying recover the car. Worst performance everrrr.

What's the "dude" for? Most accurate way to really determine the true power of the car will really be the curb weight/as tested mass, then the quarter mile numbers by the best outlets...that'll give a real tried and true idea, to compare to the chassis dyno. It's clearly making MORE than the SAE rating (which is mandated, with all accessories and can't be fudged), but how much exactly will be up for debate. No two dynos are the same.

No one is denying they are making more power than advertised, but exactly how much we will have to see. Keep in mind, and this is important...these are pre-production cars used for media...some panels don't fit right, some things aren't what they seem. You truly need to wait for a real production grade car, in public hands, to see the facts.

I ran an auto manufacturer under govt mandate...I know something about this.

Started 3rd with a 9:58 Q
Pitted after lap 2 for tires took like .5 for fuel, but honestly probably didn't need fuel.
The winner didn't pit,and managed to win by 3 seconds.
And i hung on to 3rd so i cant complain about finishing where i started.

Posting a link in a thread on GTPlanet to an outside motoring news outlet regarding a story posted on... the motoring news outlet GTPlanet.
Just FYI your posts are almost impossible to read on the custom dark mode of this site. :P

Probably the plan :D
Probably the plan :D

Also for some reason the Supra Cup dissapeared from the sport mode screen after the race :nervous:
Yes, you have to dig into the Archive section to find it now. I recall this happened before with an event too.

Although it says the next race is like a month away on the 29th of June, which is a upsettingly long time to wait, so maybe thats why.

Was a tough race for sure...qualifying was really a b*tch...I laid WAYYY back on got underway for my flying lap with only about 1m30 left...to my surprise caught two cars on the backside of the track before the straight. Had to make a ballz deep move to get past, which was gonna make or break me. Still cost me some time...maybe a second...but ended up P7 to start.

Made a few small...and I do mean small errors (missed apex slightly and got a bad run off the corner) and got a gap between me and P6, so I was out of the draft. Went through lap one in P7, then started catching on Lap 2...went through a few battles, got up to P6, then had to fend off the guy who pitted on fresh tires, all over the track behind me, bumping me mid corner. I held strong, raced a good line, FIA accordance...he couldn't pass and got pissed, but...this ain't HPDE, I don't have to waive you by. I was hitting my apex's and passing around the outside anywhere at the ring is pretty much not gonna happen. He would've got me on the straight, but I was in a draft myself and he couldn't catch me.

Held P6 for like 1650pts.

That must be why its missing from the option menu I guess? Interesting. I didn't catch that break was in there...

i had a really poor but fun race. my entire last lap was a battle for "not last" in the top split lobby haha. @Mistah_MCA because of your streams i tried driving 3rd person... it works strangely well for the supra. at least on a track where i don't know what im doing anyways.

On the final lap I have a 1.5s penalty and a car less than 2s behind me. We trade mistakes while the timer counts down. It comes down to the wire!!!

Ah yes, welcome to my perspective, my friend! :D
I feel a lot more comfortable racing in third person. I tried racing in bumper and roof view, and it makes me super uncomfortable.

I couldn't attend the race since I'm with loved ones before they go back home. Bums me out a bit, since I would have likely been in your lobby.

My Race on the Nürburgring yesterday. Started from 3rd position with 9.52 min after a difficult qualifying with several small mistakes and maybe to much fear of doing mistakes. The race after this was just 30 minutes of nonstop flat-out racing without fuel saving tactics etc. .
The leading group of 4 cars was constantly fighting for positions and there were several contacts, overtakings and an incredible close finish with the Top 4 just within 0,3 seconds.
Unfortunately I got a 0.5 second penalty on the last lap and lost the lead on Döttinger Höhe because of that but i think even without that penalty slipstream would have been strong enough for the cars behind to catch me.
Not the cleanest race and also a big mistake from myself when I pushed Jacques unintended. I hope you still enjoy it. :sly:

Out of interest, why do you do the FIA races on a lower rated account? To get more points by racing in a lower split?
Yes because of that and having more entertaining races for my Youtube account. ;)
I think more people want to see fights for the podium instead of fighting for 15th place.
I also want to see myself on the ranking at a position where I think I belong to. The point system punishes those in the bottom half of the top split and I would be in there. Depending on the combo I would score 500-1500 points most of the time, wich isn´t even enough to get the star player status. There needs to be a base point system or some kind of league system to make sure that a midfield result in the top split still gets a higher rank than a 3rd place on the 3rd split.
At the moment many people reduce their DR-Score just to get matched into a lower split and score better points.
So now the problem is even if you can get 10th in top split you probably will only get 4th in the second split because of people who dumped their DR.
I think Tidgney made a pretty good statement about this. 👍

This has been more concerning to me, the more I see things unfold. Anything less than 6th or 7th in top split, will still have you running a very fast pace, but likely 2-4th in 2nd split will run against lesser competition and gain more points for the effort.

I'm just gonna run where I land and whatever happens, happens I guess. I don't give a f...

My DR has now reached a point where I always get matched up with top split lobby in Oceania for the past 4 FIA races. While it's cool to be in the same room as the fastest guys in the country, the gap is just so big that even if I ran a perfect race (from my perspective), I would still end up 15th or below with only a measly 600-700 points. It's a lonely race at the back, you learn nothing, and you just become a mobile chicane for the front runners. Previously before my DR got this high I would be in 2nd or 3rd split, have great battles throughout the race and end up top 5s mostly with 800-900 or maybe 1000 points if I'm lucky. The effort/reward payoff ratio tails off dramatically the higher your DR is unless you're Top 16 Superstars material. I guess I could just join others and tank my DR, but purposefully losing races just to have a chance to win one just feels wrong, not to mention a waste of time and a pain in the behind. The rating system should take care of the skill matching and I shouldn't have to consult kudosprime after every race just to make sure I don't get above a certain DR "wall" to be competitive.

Of course, at the end of the day I'm unlikely to make the world tour or finals anyway, so there's no point stressing about points. But if you're after good close racing you pretty much have to game the system.

The Supra races are different because participation has tailed off dramatically in the last few races, so there's a huge spread of skills from front to back, making the DR system completely pointless. I just go in YOLO and hope to finish as high as I can

Fuel mix 6 gets you round the race distance today, with enough spare to go to 5 or maybe 4 for the final lap. You'll get better if you short shift.

Ed - I'm just going to pretend I knew that the next round of this is on the 29th of June.
